Quite a sombre video this week about the soldiers who fought and died in the 1st and 2nd world wars, just my way of pictorially highlighting some of the soldiers headstones in my local cemetery that fought and died in the two great wars, thank you to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for not letting there sacrifices be forgotten.

I really appreciate your message here, Martin. My grandfather didn't like to talk about the war, when he fought for the US in Italy, and I think he wanted to avoid glorifying it with war stories. For him, it was just a sacrifice to be made, and he was lucky to get out mostly unscathed. He would have appreciated this tribute.

Thanks again for another great video Martin. They whole video I though you were shooting a 135mm camera. I had no idea that Pentacon 6tl was a medium format rig. Great work on remembering the WWI and WWII fallen. 100% agree with you, these guys need to be remembered as does their tremendous sacrifice. Thank you for helping us all remember.

Thanks Martin for that beautiful video. I enjoyed it as every other video from you. There are many channels about film photography out there which are mostly about comparing gear, film stock other technical stuff. But your channel (espacially this video) is about what people often forget...telling a story with your photos, getting great compositions and just go out to shoot pictures. So thank you for your great work and your beautiful way of showing the important things about (film) photography. I also have the Pentacon Six and the 180mm and love it very much. I haven´t used it wide open at 2.8 very often, but I will do it now for sure!

I sincerely appreciate your videos, Martin. This one in particular. It made me buy the same sonnar lens you use in this video. It had the same problems you encountered with your lens, the aperture was stuck wide open. I removed the front and rear elements, which gave me access to the aperture mechanism. The aperture blades and the aperture ring were baked together with the remnants of grease and dirt. I disassembled the complete mechanism and cleaned each aperture blade first with lighter fluid and then with isopropanol. The inner aperture ring was not only dirty, but also a little corroded. I polished it carefully with my Dremel and cleaned it again. Then I reassembled everything without oiling or greasing, which is a little bit fiddly, but doable. The mechanism is working fine now. I use this really magnificent lens not only on my P6, it is also one of my favorite lenses for portrait work on my Nikon D750. I use the Hartblei adapter, it is the only one that doesn't have uncontrolled reflections in the adapter. Again many thanks for your videos, keep up the good work!

Absolutely fantastic Martin, my Grandad rests under a CWWG headstone in France, after the D-day landings, the work they do to keep them in good order is second to none, and the least that can be done for these fallen hero’s. Some really great shots there and all very tastefully done. That lens looks awesome.

Very nice and true. Some deeds deserve to be remembered. Just yesterday I took my Sonnar out to take a few portraits and found out that aperture also got stucked open. :-) Will send it fo repair in few days. And I also use stand development for my bw films but with more diluted developer and times up to over an hour. :-) Nice method think.

The aperture stucks because there is oil on the blades. Common issue with those old Zeiss lenses. There are some videos about the disassembly, but you can also find some people on the net who are able to fix this. Aperture must be taken apart, cleaned, reassembled. Cleaning it while it is in it's place is impossible.

@martinhensonphotography
@martinhensonphotography 3 жыл бұрын
Its shelf life is much longer than Pyrocat HD, its amazing for stand or semi stand dev and it is just a one part dev , no part A and B, as I say, Tommy, I just experimenting a the moment but in these pictures I think the micro contrast is better then the HD
@jameslane3846

I would also add that you can use 510 Pyro as far as 1:500 but I don't bother with that, I do sometimes go for 1:300 for very high contrast films or scenes however

Very sombre and beautiful tribute to our fallen soldiers, thanks for highlighting the sacrifice they made for us in the World Wars Interesting that you developed it for 20 minutes and how many times did you invert at the 7 and 13 minute mark? I recommend @1:100 15m 30 agitating continuously for the 1st minute then once only at the 10 minute mark. The negative you showed looked a bit over developed

Nice one Martin. Great to see the Pentagon out again. Do you have any other lenses for this Camera? Have you ever considered getting the 180 fixed? I watched a video by John French at kzfaq.infovideos on 510 Pyro. That was the first time I had heard of it but it does look a promising developer to try. I'm just getting into Pyrocat HD so it might have to wait a bit.

Very poignant photography. Instead of constantly changing the waist level finder to magnifying hood and back, you can always leave the waist level finder on, and use your 4X5 loup on the GG of the camera to fine tune the focus. With a 6X6 camera there is enough room on the GG, provided you were not using one of those oversized loups. Thanks for sharing the video.
@martinhensonphotography

I do that sometimes with my Rolleiflex , unfortunately my loupe is to big to do that with the Pentacon waist level finder,
