You should read the manga. The layer and detail is way beyond the movie. I think manga is far superior than the movie version in most aspects. ps: I watched the movie first, then read the manga, so I do not have a bias toward the manga version. I generally think the manga version is a masterpiece, and movie version is only above average.

He was hard to read and a scary but interesting character you should really read the manga it was better than the movie in my opinion

I find it difficult explain this, but I think the author was clever when letting Mashiba fall in love with Kawai, and also befriending Ishida. This especially true bc of his narrow mindset. It is as if the author is indirectly saying something (maybe redemption, love or humanity). I couldn't really hate Kawai bc although she is the most hated (for good reason), she indirectly influence Mashiba. Her friendship with Mashiba help change his black and white view and begin to experiment with the idea of redemption (of course, she didn't intended to). I think the relationship that Mashiba have for Kawai match perfectly. Just think about, a stubborn girl and a calm, resilience boy together. They perfectly contrast each other. I can only imagine what their relationship be like if they push further. ;) Sorry, it already hours before my last comment but I went somewhere.

Read the manga and you'd hate Kowai more. Movie doesn't give her enough screen time to flash out her terrible personality.

When I reread the manga, it doesn’t seem that way, esp. by the Coming of Age ceremony. We should consider that he sees Kawai for who and what she is but continues to hang out with her because they’re friends in the least. He has this line where he says “I like her as much as I like children. She’s about the third on my list.” Which is to say, not romantically. At least that’s what I understand of it. He’d like to teach her to be good or change even, probs. But even he has to resolve the little to no change in Kawai after learning about Ishida’s and her shared past. And lol, I wonder who or what his top 2 are.

I often find that after I gather all my material on a character for a video, I'm able to isolate their actions and try to understand them in ways I didn't while immersed in the story. The Anime Dude You're welcome. I try to see things in a different perspective. Besides I don't see her as evil or anything since nobody is really evil in Koe no Katachi. I am rather indifferent towards Miki, I don't hate her but don't like her either but she is a realistic character. Also after Ishida wakes up, Kawai stops her whole "cute" act with the long hair, no glasses, and goes back to her old look she had at elementary, being more real than acting "fake".

Thomas Fernandez It's not just about Nishimiya though. The way she brings up Ishida's past as a big scene in front of the entire class just so she could go crying to Mashiba was enough for me to consider her a bully.

Nahhh she's wayyyy worse than just that. You don't actually have to read this all because it's a really long rant and pretty much an explanation of why I hate Kawai the most and why she is the worst character in the whole series/movie. Honestly I didn't read the manga but just from watching the movie I hate her guts more than Ueno surprisingly. It's true that Kawai did not take a direct part in bullying Shouko but the fact that she badmouthed her, exclued her from things and following Ueno's and Shouya's lead was just as bad. The reason why I hate her more than Ueno is the exact reason why I don't hate Shouya. Shouya saw his wrong doing and understood what he did in the past was horrible and wanted to find redemption by accepting who he was in the past and tried to make amends with Shouko. Ueno, though I still dislike her, I don't hate her as much as Kawai because she showed that understood she was a bad guy and was not totally oblivious (she even learned how to sign even though it was technically a badword but I mean better than nothing right? and Shouko wasn't offended). Kawai on the other hand NEVER admitted that she was wrong. She believed herself to be innocent through and through and never once admitted that she was wrong. She is a full on hypocrite and she likes to draw attention to herself. For example in the movie when she was young, once young shouya pointed out that she also participated in badmouthing shouko, she f**king cried claiming that she was a victim and tried to get everybody in the class on her side (which they did like the gullible buttfaces they were who were probably tricking blind because they were in the room with them everyday but whatever). Yeah you could say it was because she was young but that can't be excused for the high school scene when she did almost the exact thing when Shouya confronted her about telling other people unnecessary things about the past and and she denied by talking EXTREMELY loud to involve people that didn't need to be involved into the conversation and pretty much telling everybody about when Shouya used to bully Shouko to Mishiba and the whole d*** class when it was none of their business. Ugh I honestly hate those types of people because they always see themselves as perfect and an angel. They don't see what they do wrong and play the victim which is worst than someone who knows that their bad and is making changes, even if it like barely, its still more than nothing.

As for making more character analysis videos... I suppose Violet Evergarden could be a good anime to choose characters from. It also happens to be made by the same studio who made A Silent Voice, Kyoto Animation. (It's my favorite Anime studio too)

Yuzuru was one of my favorite characters though, and the movie fleshed out her character pretty well, but a video on her would have a lot of content and take quite a bit of time to make so it may be a while.

he figured out from his own experience that the teacher was in the bullying too (although he(the teacher) knows shoko is being bullied, he doesnt do anything and laughed too) he's mad when the teacher kinda just seems to forget everything about it and sidelined it, not feeling responsible at all.
