Alejandro Garnacho
Manchester United are content that Alejandro Garnacho has backed away from a potential row with Erik ten Hag after liking social media posts criticizing his manager. However, Garnacho’s actions will still be dealt with by Ten Hag. A source now says Garnacho showed contrition by quickly unliking the posts, while a club source said that any further action taken against the player is considered "an internal matter."
Anthony Martial
Anthony Martial will leave Manchester United at the end of the season - no doubts. He will pick his favourite option as his next club in the coming months, he’s currently focused on his recovery from injury.
Ten Hag
MEN - Some Manchester United players are delaying decisions on their futures as they expect Erik ten Hag to be sacked in the summer
Antony
Fabrizio Romano - Manchester United have dismissed suggestions that Antony was left out of the squad for the game against Bournemouth because of a disagreement with Erik ten Hag. One source says United are unhappy with speculation that Antony was left out because of a row with Ten Hag over his playing time. United sources insisted he wasn’t able to participate against Bournemouth because of an injury picked up in training on Friday, which meant he could not finish the session.
Casemiro
Casemiro is likely to leave Manchester United this summer.

Agree with most points but taking Garnacho off at half time when Rashford's form has been appalling is the issue. Garnacho had made the left side his own and for some reason he got moved back to the right with no justification. Garnacho on left with Antony/Amad on right at least we would see some effort. Mount could even play right.

I would sooner see Antony or Amad on the left and Garnacho or Rashford on the right. This inverted winger nonsense isn't working. We make it easier for opponents to defend against us. I could see the logic if we had wing backs that went down the outside of our winger and gave crossing options for our CF but we don't often enough particularly without a natural left back like Shaw.

That's an issue with how the club is run though isn't it? If you're a good professional you'd want to be playing, it's the profile of playing staff. Also, our players having that mentality and so many still being there from previous managers again makes me think it's better to keep ETH

@@ste4392Tbh I don’t believe it’s about being “a good professional” United wages are absolutely ridiculous. As an example, Rashford reportedly makes £15.5M per year, Salah makes £18M per year. Do these two players give you anywhere near the same output? Antony was reportedly on £20k per week at Ajax, came to United and it’s £200k. Look at Sancho’s salary. Good pros will sit on lucrative contracts because as we’ve always been told, a footballers career is short, make as much money as you can. The clubs give the wages to these players, it’s not by force.

Sté, i loved and respected Casemiro for what he did last season. If his legs are gone is there a way he could be converted to a CB and be one of a quartet of CBs that we call on. I know his wages seem to be an issue but it costs to buy a new one and we still have their wages. We need leaders in the team around emerging youth. You can then still probably sell him one year down the line to Saudis. I would still keep Varane for this reason. The class of 92 needed experienced leaders around them.

We need to start signing real athletes, players capable of running for the full 90, week in week out, and can resist injury a la Bruno Fernandes by being conditioned to doing it on a regular basis, other sports have athletes, that seem to manage hugely more exhausting feats of strength and shows of fitness, without constant injuries, we need that resilience in the squad, for next season, as a baseline

Genuine question Ste: I keep hearing this thing about the EtH bonus being he's playing the youth. Do you really believe that is by design? There is no player he has played that he has not been forced to (he was forced to play Mainoo for so long he'd have felt the wrath of the fans had he left him out for anything else available). If he was really wanting to play youth why did he let so many go for nothing in the summer instead of doing the Chelsea loan thing to get game time then call back and integrate or recoup a much bigger sale price later (what would we give for a match-fit Ethan Laird right now)? Amad scores the winner in the FA cup then sits out a game ban but does not start or even come again on until Garnacho is subbed in the Bournemouth game (I still think Garna should have stayed on and moved over to replace ineffective Rashford for Adam btw). Do you honestly think Kwambala would be anywhere near the team right now if it wasn't forced? I think the bar has been lowered so far that ANY 75% performance effort wise is lauded!
@lucasvanwijngaarden670
@lucasvanwijngaarden670 16 күн бұрын
Injuries have definitely forced the issue, but that's how well over 95% of youth players get their first opportunity. He played Garnacho last year when he had other options available and was already working to get Kobbie ready for the first team as well. Even without injuries he would have played, although probably not every week if there was more competition for his spot. Kambwala looked clumsy at times against Bournemouth, which probably means he isn't quite ready to start regularly. Ten Hag also invited 7 players to join first team training recently, so he is clearly trying to get the most out of the academy. And bringin in 2 academy players in 2 years is a lot, no matter how you look at it.

@@SqueakyWeasel247 After reading through it again, here are some answers. I already covered this question. I do think it's by design, but slightly accelerated due to injuries. I think he's looking at a lot of players in the academy and assessing wether there is a pathway into the first team for them and focusing on those. Quite frankly, what happens to those he doesn't think will become a part of the first team is an issue for the academy coaches and transfer department to deal with. But I agree that the club has been letting talented young players leave for far too cheap. Erik has admitted before that he thinks Amad deserves more game time based on training than he has been able to give him. Especially after a few good showings I think we'll see more of him. I think his Bournemouth appearance showed he can bring something different from Garnacho and Rashford. But he probably won't start games yet. Similar to how Garnacho got minutes of the bench before getting starts. I don't know why Rashford keeps getting played, but Rashford at LW, for whatever reason, is the most consistent thing at United since his breakthrough.

@@SqueakyWeasel247 I think I responded to everything you mentioned. If by bigger picture you mean is Ten Hag the right man for the job, that's another question entirely. But I think there is no point in appointing a new manager in the summer because the club is still a mess. There is a limit to how many youth players you can play in one team and we already have a lot of young players. The rest of the squad has massive issues, but those can't get addressed till the summer and best case scenario it will take 2 years to fix things up properly. With a third almost certainly needed before we can even think about challenging for a title. So why bring a different manager in before this mess is sorted out.

“All going wrong”? Surely, you mean: “All gone wrong”. 10 years in the making. Never has a club with such immense resources and massive pay-outs on players been so poor, for so long. Rip it all up, players and managers… and start again. Club needs a fresh start.

If Sir Jim and others want to be successful. Even if they don’t think ETH is the man they should still keep him. Put in the foundations behind him and then the next manager might have a chance of succeeding. You sack ETH now. Bring in anyone and they fail. Sir Jim looks stupid. Keep ETH for another year. Sort everything out behind him and then make a decision. It can’t be done in a few weeks.

ETH is making mistakes and looks mentally tired - but what manager would not be with our dysfunctional club and relentless hostility in media. with a summer reset he can come good again especially if he has structure and recruitment. Bro…Garnacho (outside of Bruno) is the biggest culprit of turning the ball over and the lack of a ball retention. Why do you think he runs back so hard? He’s covering his mistakes of always losing the ball. He is not as technical as you think. He’s closer to Dan James than Ronaldo. 😂

Loved this Ste! Firstly, Garnacho isn’t anywhere near as good as he thinks he is. He’s closer to Dan James than Vinicius. He’s overhyped by fans have never seen quality in this team. This team is shit, so there really isn’t one player whose “decision”, which isn’t true anyway, matters. Antony is garbage, so he can go. Sure hope these new appointments can build a club and culture, because we don’t have a good one of either.

Why don’t you talk about the number of injuries in training
@ste4392
@ste4392 16 күн бұрын
That needs looking at 100%, but I think that comes down to conditioning and bringing players back early, but the training needs looking at. ETH wants high energy and fitness levels, so is he pushing then too hard or do we lack athletes or both?
@mundolioknows6447
@mundolioknows6447 16 күн бұрын
@@ste4392well, they seemed ok last season until March. Since then, they have just never recovered. They didn't seem to lack fitness under Ole either. Players like cas and varane have had long careers so I can understand their bodies breaking down a bit by 30 years old. But players like malacia, mount, AWB, mainoo, Martinez, lindelof, Amad, are young and had no history of long term injuries yet they've all missed multiple months this season. Others that have a history of injuries like Shaw, martial etc are more excusable but were they managed properly considering their history? Rashford's pace seems to have halved. He can't sprint like he used to and he's definitely a player that relies on pace. Something is very, very wrong behind the scenes.
@ste4392
@ste4392 16 күн бұрын
@@mundolioknows6447 we did have the most games of anyone in the league last season and the midseason World Cup. Martinez, Malacia, Shaw and Mount have all been rushed back and the medical staff said the were ready to play. The reason Reguilon was allowed to go was because ETH was told Shaw and Malacia were going to be fully fit in January. Martinez refractured his metatarsal and Mount has had a reoccurring injury. Rashford had a broken back under Ole and was playing. Martial and Varane are made of glass. Amrabat has needed injections since the world cup, Hojlund had a back injury when he came and hasn't really got to 100%, so is it the training or is it the medical team?
@mundolioknows6447
@mundolioknows6447 16 күн бұрын
@@ste4392 why did you just list all those injuries? Rashford's broken back 3 years ago has nothing to do his lack of energy now. Everybody had a world cup to deal with. Had we gone out of the fa cup in the 4th round last year, are you saying we would not be in this situation??? It's not just the players that are missing. It's the ones who play. Nobody looks physically fit. Why are we the only team in Europe that has never had a fit squad since the world cup? Defend ten hag by blaming his staff if it makes you feel better, but they are HIS staff. He is responsible for them. If they aren't capable of doing their jobs, he should have changed them. He is responsible for not managing to put out a fit 11 in the past 14 months. No one else.
@ste4392
@ste4392 16 күн бұрын
I'm saying we have these players who've been mismanaged physically and we are bringing in players while injured, or with a history of consistent injuries. So is it the training or is it that we have problems deeper than that causing us to pick up injuries?
