It's time for Maxxie's summer Schnauzer haircut because it's hot y'all! Maxxie, my white Miniature Schnauzer, wants to show off his new Schnauzer haircut after the dogs go to the groomer. Also, I'm sharing my method on how to keep your dog safe in the car with a dog car seat cover (dog safety harness). I'm taking the dogs to the groomer today, and Pollux gets to go too.

Aren't the boys adorable?!! How often do you get your dogs groomed? Do you have a summer vs winter cut preference?

Hi, I have two mini schnauzers. One is white the other salt and pepper. They go to the groomers once a month. I prefer a shorter cut in summer and in winter I let the coats grow a tad longer but not much. Guess I am a in betweener.

I get my rescued Morkie groomed maybe every three months but he gets a bath every two weeks! He just got his summer coat and he looks like a different dog!

They must feel fresh after the groomers but they may have that anxiety, especially Pollux thinking of where he came from with all the barking dogs. He'll get more use to it in time bit they sure are happy to be home! They love you so much! Adorable

Hi Renee, just a little info; re: Pollux and the heat. Given that he's a high percentage American Staffordshire Terrier, you may find that he's not heat tolerant. Staffordshire Terrier's are known to be sensitive to the heat. In the summer, here in the Midwest, and especially, when we lived in South Texas, I was careful not to leave my American Staffordshire Terrier's outside, during the hotter part of the day. If it was necessary to take my dog somewhere, in the heat of the day, I always took a couple of frozen ice packs with me, in the car. For long trips I'd freeze 2 plastic gallon jugs of water, and wrap them in a towel, placing them where Gracie, and now, Daisy, can curl up near them. I do have A/C, but it doesn't get the back of my 29 year old Honda station wagon as cold as the A/C in the newer cars. We're shopping for something newer, like an Odyssey, with accessory air, in the back. Just a little info I learner, when I became an American Staffordshire Terrier mom. Occasionally, Gracie, my sweet Am Staff who passed in 2018, at the age of 15, would dig a hole in the soft, cool dirt, in the shade, and curl up if I happened to get busy, outside and didn't take her in when she was ready...LOL, so much for having a clean dog! She was an abused rescue, from a farm, so I'm guessing that she spent a lot of hot South Texas summers, in the shade, in the dirt! I remember seeing dogs, like my Gracie, curled up under old farm house pourches, when I was a kid, before everyone had A/C, and most dogs stayed outside! ( When dinosaur's walked the earth...LOL!) The dogs look so comfortable and refreshed, after their, "spa" day. Enjoy the weather, winter's coming, sooner than we know! When my dog goes, she just gets a bath and a pedicure, as she has fur like Pollux.

You should take your Chom-Chom to that seat cover! I love mine by the way, bought it at your recommendation and I adore it! I have a dark brown sectional sofa with 3 mostly white Dachshunds, it comes in super handy! Love Maxxie's cut! "Cover up, he gotta poop!" lol! They both act like they feel handsome. Kiss them both for me please.

Awww Maxxie IS adorable! White Schnauzers are very unique. His hair grows differently than our other Schnauzers hair did....different texture and thickness too. Very interesting!

How gorgeous the guys looked after they left the Parlour , I did however notice that when Pollux got into the car to go he was hot at a bit because he accidentally got in their mommy's seat and Pollux seemed a bit worried.

Enjoyed your boating trip in Kentucky . You leave the dogs on their own for a while, and why is Pollux not allowed on the seat with you and Maxxie can poor Pollux, maybe that is why he tear's his bed up because he cannot get a cuddle on the chair with you. You are amazing in all things you do but when Pollux cannot seem to get a hug on the sofa with you it's probably cause he feels totally left out sometimes. Only saying what i see.♥️🍝💝💝❤️💝

The boys are fresh and adorable! My two little ones come home exhausted from the groomer too. No matter how well they are treated by the groomer, I think there’s a level of stress involved, and it tuckers them out. My Havanese and mini poodle get groomed monthly. Living in Northern CA, we get triple digit summers, so they get summer cuts too. 🐾❤️🐾

Forgot to say: we also get our black labradoodle girl (called 'Bumble') trimmed for the summer and throughout the year but she also has a specific 'summer' haircut, namely all the curls come off and she then looks like a labrador for a little while. I very much like this neat look but especially during our cold and sometimes downright miserable winter days her warm curly coat can't be beaten because it keeps her nice and warm. This year we had the summer cut done just in time for a few very warm days we had. Thankfully her coat grows back very quickly, because our weather has made a complete u-turn and it's been mostly awful, rain and fairly cold. Today it's brightening up a bit and it is warmer. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Maxer and Pollux!!! You are a star!!! Enjoy your warm weather and should it get on your nerves we will gratefully receive it here in the north of England!

There's nothing better than a freshly groomed schnauzer. I have groomed my Molly myself since COVID. Her cut is a bit uneven in places since she doesn't like to stand up during grooming. But at least there are no mats.

I have a short haired chihuahua - so no groomers - I just bath her in the sink. I cut her nails as well - give here a treat for each toenail. Sweet, sweet dogs - so awesome that they have each other to hang and play with.

Hi Renee'! Okay. I know your channel and your focus is on your curls and going grey. I had very curly hair in a time that could not have been more difficult. As a 7 th grader in Jr. High, in 1965, it was painful, physically and emotionally. I grew up in Seattle.....where it rains...... Straight hair was THE style, and there were really no products or tools to try to deal with my hair. Ironing, juice cans taping to my face... And any tiny sprinkle ruined it. I'd have red marks on my face from taping my hair, difficulty sleeping..... It has only been about 10 years that products with silicone, I think, that my hair is predictable, with options, and easy. I understand and admire you for rejecting society's exhausting and repressive expectations of women, and sharing them with the world. However, you DO style your hair, use product, makeup, shave your legs, I think....... Having your hair in a ponytail isn't going to go away. There is no other way to keep it off your neck and face in summer. Believe me, I know how uncomfortably warm it gets. You are so cute, you never look bad. Your hair down is darling, and your ponytail look isn't going to change much, since the front of your hair is almost entirely grey. I would LOVE to see your hair, using some product, left wet after washing, with a leave-in conditioner and a product that you can apply that will smooth out the wispy sides, and you can comb it all back, but just for the bangs parting on one side, creating a smooth side bang. Then I comb through making a smooth ponytail and tucking the end under the stretchy hair tie. It's very fast and easy, and the smooth bang shows off all the shades of grey. You just let it dry (I know! ) And you can comb it into a looser ponytail or see what happens when you run your fingers through. Maybe cool waves. I wear my hair curly, straight, wavy. I've done almost everything to my hair in the past, but shaving my head. In the 80s I got a perm when it was longer to keep it curlier. First one I hated because the cut was wrong. I'd straightened my hair many times, so on a Saturday, my husband left on errands, I straightened it. When he got back, he thought I was an intruder, going from BIG, to stick straight.

Hilarious jumping in the front. Mine goes every 6 weeks but he is a Sheltie. Heat is hard for him but if we are outside- he has to be.

I love Maxxie, he looks like my last Westie, I thought Maxxie was a westie until I read he was a schnauzer, maybe in UK they look different, still so darn lovely, Pollux too he has become a gorgeous well adjusted pooch, well done with him, love conquers all 🥰😍😘

We adopted Maxxie 9 years ago when he was just a little pup....and we were told he was a Schnauzer. But I've always thought myself that he is mixed with something else. You are probably right about the Westie!

I used to have two cats with really long hair and about twice a year they got sheared down to half inch and they loved no hair.

Pollux is looking more at ease and happy each time we get to see him. At one point I had 6 schnauzers and used to groom them myself as I had spent some time working at a groomers so I had been trained how to do it. It was a never ending job for sure. In one of your videos I heard you say that schnauzers don’t have hair in their ears, I just wanted to say that’s not been my experience as every schnauzer I have groomed had a lot of hair in their ears and I have to say Maxi does look like a full-blooded schnauzer, I don’t think he’s a mix. Thank you for sharing. ❤️

Hi! 6 Schnauzers at once!! Wow!!! I used to groom mine back in the day....but it is such a big messy job! And I didn't now what I was doing so they all look bad. I gave it up years ago and now take them to the groomer. I find it so interesting about the hair in their ears. My first 3 Schnauzers had no hair in theirs ears.....and Maxxie gets a bunch. Hmmmm....

@@blueraven2345 A broken leg....oh no!!! I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll be up and about soon enough. I think you will really enjoy my video coming out on Tuesday. I'm taking you on a day trip with me to one of my favorite places in Western Kentucky. It's so much fun and unlike any place you've been before (unless you've visited yourself). He doesn’t hang around outside much. He’ll come outside to potty and maybe lay in the chair for a few minutes...but he usually goes right back inside.

I love a fluffy dog. However, I do understand dogs w/ hair like Maxie need a super trim. I noticed though that he’s still fluffy looking. (I don’t know any other way to describe it.) You did mention he had a particular type of cut. I believe you called it a “puppy cut”, so that must b why he’s still fluffy looking to me. They’re r so adorable. I’m glad I stopped by, I enjoy my visits. We had a dog similar to Maxie but he had both fur and hair and I hated when he needed a trim but of course we want our buddies to b on the cooler side. 😘Great job guys. Hard work looking so adorable! Lol 😎

I call it a puppy cut because I don't like the harsh lines on a traditional schnauzer. I like softer lines and fluffier body. He still gets the skirt and has a beard/eyebrows.....just just aren't as drastic as they should be 💗

Your dogs look great! My dog Rusty comes home from the groomer & is just exhausted! LOL! He only goes every 4 months...he is a Jack Russell mix & has short hair...but his little beard grows & certain other places, like his eyebrows...& of course, he needs a nail trim at that time too. I have a bearded, rough coated terrior mix. I do his nails myself and used to bathe him as needed. The doggie daycare (don't Roll your eyes) that he goes to only charges $10.00 for a bath since he is considered a small dog, so I let them do it now. He doesn't need clipping but he is a shedder like Polux so I brush him almost daily.

Maxxie uses the doggie door as usual.....but Pollux still refuses. Absolutely refuses. Even stands outside the door and barks for someone to let him in. Gosh!!

Susie Hill .....I was going to ask that question as I’ve had several westies and thought Maxxie was one until it said he was a Schnauzer

Maxxie was a rescue that we adopted 9 years ago. We were told Schnauzer....but have always suspected he was mixed with something else. I didn't know the cream streak down his back was a Westie trait because he certainly does have the streak. I always wondered why.....bet that's it!!

Renee, do the pooches ever play hide and seek in those rounded plants that move like willow trees? I notice Maxxie, as many minis do, has developed apricot shading. Consider a cool cotton sheet instead of the rather warm-ish blanket for the boys to lay on. I find that in summer any fabric with texture makes me feel hotter and then I get cranky. lol

Both Maxxie and Pollux love the fountain grass! They go in here and hide...and Pollux loves to run in-and-out like he's on an agility course.

Just look at those two adorable boys!!! One question: Are you doing any training with Pollux? Or planing on it? I am assuming here, that Maxi has a bit more training on him? You know just the usuall little bit of obedience training? Or maybe getting pollux used to someone touching bits he is currently not liking beeing touched? Anyway it is great to see both your dogs so happy and Pollux is just getting brighter every time we see him. Getting out off the shelter and giving him a loving, understanding home was the best thing you and your familly did.

None of the trainers in our area are working with dogs right now. We are on the list for the gal we really want to work with, and she is hoping to start taking dogs again in the fall. Fingers crossed!

Luckily, Maxxie's eyes don't run or stain. I simply wash him with a blue shampoo and his eye area stays white.

Hi Renee is the car seat cover washable... do you vacuum it before washing it ? xxx oh, touch Pollock feet regularly and it will desensitize him to it xxx

It is washable....but I've never done it. I think it might be easiest if you just spray it off with a hose honestly. Seems kind of "stiff" to put into the washing machine.

Too cute! I ordered the car hammock after the last video. Mine has two “outtie” clips on the front passenger side - am I stupid or did I get a defective one ☹️ am I missing a piece?

WELCOME TO MY CURLS hi dear! The clips to attach around the headrest - there is an innie and an outtie to secure the blanket to each headrest - the one side has two of the same so it can’t be connected - I was doing “zoomies” to figure it out! Ha

@@vanessagray7080 Just went outside and looked at mine just to make sure. I think you received a defective seat cover. Of the 4 different sections that are made to loop over the headrests....each section has one "innie" and "outie" so the two pieces can snap together. Then once snapped together, the strap can be adjusted to the correct length for your specific car. If one of your straps doesn't have the correct ends then you can't snap it together. Interesting! I would certainly return it as defective.

Hi! I forgot to add that to the video description! Thanks for reminding me! Its the EASY WALK non-pull dog harness. Here is the link to it on Amazon amzn.to/2BvkbTq. It attaches at his chest and turns him sideways if he tries to pull ahead. It's great!!! When I was using a regular harness, walking Pollux was almost impossible. Since changing to the EASY WALK harness, he can't pull on me. Very much an improvement and highly recommend. I was introduced to this harness by my sister-in-laws who have a Golden....and he pulled. They now use this same harness and actually gave me the one Pollux is wearing.

Kentucky is hot.....but it's the humidity that makes it terrible! I walk the dogs at 7am and I come home dripping in sweat. Yuck!

@@WELCOMETOMYCURLS : I moved to West Virginia in 2017 and came back to Minnesota because the humidity down there combined with the heat was too much for me, so I know what you mean about it! And I grew up in Florida! I thought the humidity in your part of the country was worse than Florida's! At least they get a sea breeze.
