NHTSA and EPA regulations are killing the ability for companies to provide reliable, durable 4x4's with equal or higher power than previous models... Even my 2017 tacoma was absurd, the first Toyota 4x4 I've ever owned where my stud welder for dent pulling would just melt through even on LOW with small pins! 🤦‍♂️ Every year mileage requirements go up, mandatory safety equipment and testing goes up... Really we've been past the point of no return of having no "real" 4x4's since roughly 2010... If only we had exemptions for REAL Toyota 4x4s like Australia and South Africa... Atleast Ford tried with the Raptor, and Dodge with the power wagon until the EPA necessitated the gas powered ecoboost and terrible transmission... Ford didn't have the best history of reliability before being hampered by having to pair up that combo to maintain the same power levels at a higher EPA spec'd MPG rating... And Dodge died as soon as FIAT took over... RIP Bronco owner's wallets is all I can say 😐 Thanks EPA 👍 now go give some more tax credits to Amazon and Walmart who import everything on cargo ships burning millions of gallons of unrestricted crude oil and low grade diesel so we can have landfills full of un-repairable, single use import products... Great "Green" initiative EPA 👏

One of the reason those beeps is so infuriating to me is that I know that as soon as you overuse a super annoying beep like that, eventually you learn to ignore them thereby rendering them not only useless, but dangerous. It's a "cry wolf" situation where when you really need the beep you'll have already ignored it.

Hey max, I hope you see this comment. So I have quite a bit of experience with these 22 tundras my friend jus got 2, a limited TRD Off-Road and he traded in his 2019 1794 for a 2022 TRD Pro, I have been test driving the limited for almost a month now. And to address some of your concerns, the truck does beep at you a lot but for most of these things you can simply just turn them off, like all the safer gadgets that freak out when you’re off-road, for example, lane centering assist etc, they all can be turned and they won’t bother you. Secondly the TRD Off-Road while it has the name off-road in it, it’s more of an appearance package as I have discovered, it doesn’t really make the truck any more off-road capable than a bone stock, I mean it adds the more off-road tires and crawl control but that’s about it, to really get the best out of a TRD-off-road it has to be lifted with better tires as my friend and I found out while taking it off-road bone stock, it scraped and banged on a lot of things, but once the lift kit went on it, it changed into a different truck, also the front bumper on these 22’s are pretty low to the ground for efficiency sake so if you don’t wanna scrape it, it’s most likely would have to be modified. For the android auto disconnecting, I have figured out that it mostly happenes when you wirelessly connect to it, so most of the time using the cable solves that issue, I’ve also had the same problem in a lot of BMW’s where android auto or apple car play just disconnected on me while I was using it, and switching to the wired connection helps, and the problem can be fixed with an OTA update. Regarding the check engine light, same thing happened to my friends Limited Off-Road, it came on while we were driving, tried to restart the truck that didn’t change anything, we took it into the dealership and they ran a scan on it, nothing came up, it happened to just be a glitch for us. So i would say you should try to run a diagnostic check to see what the problem may possibly be. I feel this is the case that happens with any first year vehicle, same thing happens when the previous Gen tundra came out, it had its own fair share of issues but they were all worked out in a year or 2, same thing goes for any brand really, Ford has had a bunch recalls on the new F-150, it’s what happens when you get an all new vehicle, essentially the customers are the beta testers which sucks cos customers who get the bad example have a soured experience of the brand. In the case of the tundra, I have noticed that the trucks who were made the earliest seem to have the most amount problems, while the latter made trucks, have less problems. I have seen people who have had nothing to say but good things about the tundra on KZfaq and I’ve seen people who have had problems. I’m really sorry your truck hasn’t been making you happy, hopefully things would turn around. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the tundra I test drove for quite some time and I’m looking into getting one for myself l, preferably a TRD Pro, Capstone or 1794. I think the new tundra is still a great truck, it’s pretty darn fast for what it is, the interior is miles and miles better than the previous Gen, it rows more, which is very important to me and it’s a lot more comfortable than the last generation. I’ve had a lot of seat time in the last Gen and I can confirm that. I also think it looks better but that’s a controversial opinion 😂. People like to hate on the new thing especially on the internet which made me start to doubt the new trucks but once I test drove one, I fell in love.

In all Toyotas it’s annoying, I turned it off cause on the merge lanes for freeways, it would try to turn me back into the lane instead of merging. If you have the turning lights in, no problem but when you don’t, it forces you back into your lane. I hate the seatbelt reminder cause I have a child, and when she’s not with me sometimes, the car registers weight so it starts beeping and after a minute it’ll turn off, but seems now with the newer safety sense versions, they’re going to kill you with noises 😂

I ordered a 2023 to Toyota Tundra dark blue pick it up on NOV 18/22 ..Its a BEAUTIFUL truck very comfortable seat and nice interior.. I've been doing mechanical work for 40 years and had trucks sense 1978 . I also exchanged tires for BF GOODRICH KO2. The truck rides like a Lincoln and handle nice. The first thing i do is listen for noise from the Drive Line to Panels then drove to a gravel road and engage my 4x4 about 5 times. I engage my 4x4 at a FULL STOP most of the time or at 3 to 5 mph and everything work GREAT. .I put 600 miles on the truck so far...3 days ago we had some snow so i decided to engage 4x4 and it made a loud clunk it did this 2 times .. YESTERDAY I went to the dealer to have it check they told me that the TRANSFER CASE needed to be replaced... I THOUGHT HE WAS KIDDING he had to tell me 3 times before it SANK in ..I can feel my stomach turn over and said that i NEVER in 40 years had TRANSFER CASE ISSUES and I didn't even make my first payment yet ...They told me it may take 4 or more weeks to replace it ...I TOLD THEM THAT'S IT FOR HUNTING NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. Even the $200,000 plus Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 does the same thing. It's all about safety. Think about keeping one foot on the ground...and placing the truck in drive and trying to back up with your foot on the accelerator. Doesnt sound too darn safe to me! With the huge screen and the varieties of views that the back-up camera gives...you'd have to be a bonehead to not hook up a trailer. Just because it doesn't allow you do it...doesn't mean that its not beneficial.

I just purchased a 2023 limited and a few things. 1. Free year of maps, or if overlanding get a paper map (duh) 2. You can turn off the parking sensors, there is a physical button. 3. You can turn off Lane keep beep 4. You can buy a buckle for any car on Amazon for the seat belt sensors. 5. Auto headlights are standard on every trim, rain sensing wipers are not. This video is sensationalized for views(i get it), most things are non issues, driver error, or easily adjusted if you read the owners manual to maybe learn how your new truck works. Test drive a truck before you buy, don't like the view from the drivers seat or the led lights inside the cab, or want to go overlanding but get the worst light duty truck for turning radius and payload then it's on you not the truck.

The raptor blew up on him and the tundra stops/alerts his driving style which causes him problems. I think his off road expectations of a stock vehicle are too high, but also his driving style seems to be causing him issue with newer vehicles. Get an older vehicle without safety technology, actually lift it and put on off road armor/tires, and these problems probably won’t occur. It would also be a lot cheaper than smashing trucks costing $60-90k

Secondly I thought the automatic air-dam [under the bumper] was only on the Sport packages | not on the Off Road Packages [Mine does NOT have one]? Not saying you are incorrect- maybe its a limited trim level thing? I know you are pretty well versed in truck knowledge- this is more of a question to anyone that knows for certain. A lot of those stuff you speak about you can turn off. The lane departure and that auto break. Not an issue. But those other stuff you complained about definitely. The pay for nav, the dimensions. How low the off-road is to the ground, the horrible break over angles, especially the front end.

Thanks for sharing, these are the kind of things I was afraid of with this new Gen Tundra. It’s very unfortunate that Toyota is trying to milk people for subscriptions on something as basic as navigation. The other “safety” items seem extremely annoying. Terrible vehicle experience. I’m a Toyota guy but I don’t think I can bring myself to buy a Tundra like this, unless at the very least a good tuner is available to fix these electronic issues.

my 2007 Toyota Tundra was the best vehicle I ever owned, I sold it when it had 320,000 miles on it and it had just finally had its first major problem (bent valve needed top end rebuild) before that all I ever had to do was replace the starter, radiator and a timing chain (not cheap) still sold it for a decent amount considering and now looking for another truck am wishing I had just spent the money to rebuild it. to get something comparable I need to spend like 60k and from the sounds of it the new ones aren't as good!! I loved my tundra ! I would agree that even the 07 was not great off-road straight out of the box but I used mine for work ,towing a cargo trailer every single day, it does very well for that type of thing and as a very comfortable reliable vehicle.

Automatic parking brakes - for hell's sake, when did we hit the point where we couldn't pull a lever? I owned a Range Rover Evoque - it had the same type of parking brake. I once was trying to do a time-lapse photography shoot up in cold, windy Montana. Set the tripod up, got the camera firing off and went to jump back in the Evoque, only to discover that the door was just a bit too close to the tripod. I could NOT move the vehicle because I couldn't close the door. Stupid how these manufacturers are taking manual control away from some of the most critical elements. I've got a 2017 Tacoma, and sometimes it just won't go into 4-low, it'll just sit and beep like that. Give me a lever hooked to the transfer case and I'm a happy boy! But put the computers in charge of every little function and it's nothing but frustration if you ever actually take the things off road where you're supposed to be able to use things like 4-low or maybe just make your own decision about when the parking brake needs to be engaged. They seem to be taking a lot of the functionality out of everything, so every damn fool can call himself an off-roader on that one weekend a year that he actually drives on a gravel road... Grrr...

My Ford F150 has a completely FLAT floor in the rear.... so you can store a ton of large items easily without the 'teeter-totter' effect over the hump. Plus,.... imagine an adult sitting in the center position of the rear seat..... feet on the hump forcing the knees to his/her ears. Also - no decent tailgate step option.... they only have this afterthought, aftermarket feeling toe step that bolts on under one corner of the bumper.... ridiculous. I have done a lot of research and my F150 is so amazing and trouble free that I feel compelled to buy another at some point. So far I just don't see any world where I'd get rid of a truck that does almost everything right for one that does so many things wrong. One thing you didn't mention but that is important in snowy areas like the mountains where I live.... No 4A mode, they're still having you shift in and out of 2H and 4H. It’s the same with the 3rd Gen base Tacos too. When I got my ‘18 sport taco, I was shocked it wasn’t a feature. Annoying really - The dealer just told me to always leave the lights on and they turn off after about 30 seconds. No thanks. I wanted to add, auto makers have forgotten about two generations who might be in the market. Most gen x and baby boomers aren't interested in the technical crap! They want more affordable stripped down versions. The auto makers of yesterday use to focus on buyers of all preferences. Now they only focus on a small more youthful group, and maybe the occasional tech savvy older types. Truck sales would probably skyrocket if automakers would offer cheaper options and cut all that technical stuff that costs too much out! Get it together, auto industry. You're probably alienating 1/3 of your consumers!

I am a LONG time loyal Toyota fan, but, they are failing their base in spades. While not related to the Tundra, but just Toyota as a whole, the new Supra, is NOT a Supra, it is a reskinned BMW Z4. I bring these things up because those nonsensical actions are the crazy thinking that went into the things Maxx Powell mentions in the video. What else are they gonna do to annoy people? I really don't even wanna know. I know that my next truck will NOT be a Toyota. I am keeping my 2Gen Tundra, but any new truck purchase will be another brand.
