First thing I noticed about this video: get out from under the overpass!!! Those things turn into wind tunnels, and you run a huge risk of getting sucked out, injured by flying debris, or even collapsing underneath a fallen bridge, should the tornado be strong enough. Instead, find a ditch to lie in so debris does not hit you while flying across.

It shows the tornado shedding the wedge as all the dirt and debris lingers in the air as the tornado turns into a stovepipe (about 10 or 20 minutes after bridge creek and close to where reed timmer was under the overpass)

That monster formed as a multi-vortex tornado! It had the power of most fully grown tornados while in its infancy!
@TheLocalLt5 ай бұрын
Kind of, it was a cyclical supercell and had already produced two increasingly intense tornadoes which at the time were credited as part of the Moore tornado, though it was later determined that the tornado had briefly lifted as it cycled. But those are very much integral to the Moore story, in fact if you view Val Castor’s footage only the second half is the technical “Moore tornado”, the first parts are of the lead-up tornadoes from the same meso that are treated in lay men’s terms as part of the Moore tornado.
@rektspresso72884 ай бұрын

@sabishiihito9 ай бұрын
The footage starting at 12:41...my God. The rotation was insane. But as crazy as it looks, I think the rotation on some of the tornadoes from April 27, 2011 looked even *more* intense. Had there been DOW trucks around for some of those, the windspeed record set by this monster may have been matched or possibly exceeded.
@chaos_doom13219 ай бұрын
So far it is only known that the 2013 El Reno tornado could have reached or even narrowly surpassed the 1999 record for wind speed. The subvortices of that Leviathan looked extremely violent. 2011 had fairly powerful wedges like Hackleburg, Cordova, Tuscaloosa or Joplin but their winds were not estimated at the level of the 2 beasts of 1999 and 2013.
@HotFuzz10249 ай бұрын
@@chaos_doom1321 It’s generally accepted that at least one tornado, if not several from April 27, 2011 had even higher winds than the 1999 Bridge Creek tornado, or at least as high. Look up the 2011 Smithville tornado, as an example. Winds weren’t measured directly, so the “official” wind estimates are simply what the bottom of the EF5 range starts at, but it was a no-doubt 300+ mph tornado, perhaps well over that. Not to say Bridge Creek wasn’t a beast, it absolutely was, and we’re kinda splitting hairs to an extent.
