Hi everyone! This is my take on what I believe (should have) happened thus far on GMW, with absolutely no “Maya became Riley” story line.
-
Maya didn’t become Riley.
She grew. She evolved.
And with that growth, she developed feelings.
Maya’s feelings for Lucas were real; Lucas’ feelings for Maya were real.
But, Maya loves her best friend. Maya loves Riley more than anything in the world.
Maya stepped back once before, and she's stepping back again.
Maya let Lucas go (again), for Riley. Because there’s nothing in this world more important to Maya than Riley’s happiness, not even her own.

Well, that's all I gotta say on this. I love the finished product and I hope you do too! I stressed so much on this video, not quite sure where I should take it, but I'm very happy with it :)

I think Maya was protecting Riley by stepping back and saying she didn't like Lucas. When Riley brought her back from her identity crisis, she said she only brought her back to where she needed. Riley brought Maya back to the season one version of herself who had no hope and pushed Riley and Lucas together. I believe that eventually Maya will get back the growth from season two and realise sometimes she needs to put her own happiness first.

history repeats itself. just like in the beginning, in girl meets true maya, maya came in while Riley is singing. rucas and joshaya. it started over.

yes. Maya knew Riley couldn't handle not being picked. even sabrina said in an interview that maya is a very smart girl. She's always one step ahead of everybody. she knew what was gonna happen before it even started.

To be honest I dont like Riley, I mean Maya had always gave up on so many things just for her..ans its unfair I mean she always put herself after and her friends before but Riley never noticed that and it sucks..Damn I dont know if its just me, but I will have loved to watch an episode in which Maya had bursted and tell everything that shes been carrying inside to Riley and last but not least to put an end to that dake friendship Riley gave to her all along😊

since: Riley was Lucas's first so she belongs with him. sensibility: maya is the one who pushed riley. she put her feelings aside (like she always does) and did whatever she had to do to make riley happy. (like always(because somehow Riley's feelings always deem more important). (plus maya and Lucas show way more emotion and its way less awkward)

I feel like Riley is a bad friend towards Maya because i feel like in a way Rileyconfused maya because riley was all telling her that she turned into riley because she was being good so riley was all like oh is that why you like lucas because i like lucas like no maya likes lucas because she thinks lucas is a good guy she said it herself riley even said that she makes fun of lucas because she likes him and that she stepped back for riley so thats means maya like lucas since day one so why all of a sudden maya turned into riley which she didnt but she turned into riley and thats why she like lucas like this is so dumb and i feel like gmw is turning into one of the boring disney channel shows that make no sense

Yeah. What I also didn't like about Riley is that she pushed Maya in this situation and blames Maya for liking the same guy. Maya didn't want to tell anyone about her crush on Lucas, it was Riley who forced her.

I believe Lucas originally chose Maya beacuase when they were talking about jelly beans. Lucas was talking about how coincidence with Riley but with maya he was talking about personality

Gah, the more videos I watch (haven't seen an episode of the show, but binge watching tributes and obsessed with lucaya), the more I think Riley and Lucas's dynamic is so childish... Riley only really seems to like Lucas because he's her first crush and it seems more like a surface crush. But Maya and Lucas have such a deeper connection and have such great chemistry and like each other for who they are and seem to understand each other better. I honestly don't understand why the writers didn't go for the more developed pairings, Lucaya and Riarkle.

Gorgeous and beautifully edited. I particularly liked how you cut Maya "letting Lucas go"/sending him to Riley at the ski lodge with her letting him go/sending him off with Riley on the horse. In both scenes she is wearing a jean jacket with roses embroidered on it. No way that's a coincidence. The costumers did that on purpose. We're supposed to draw parallels between the scenes. S2 went on to say that Maya had liked Lucas for a long time but continually stepped back. So that scene parallel in Ski Lodge Part 2 is so important - it's telling the viewer that no matter what's being said on the surface, Maya *still* likes Lucas and she is *still* stepping back. And if you want that underlined, just look at her face in the lodge as Lucas leaves. That is not the face of someone who's happily had their feelings explained away and now has their heart's desire AKA Josh. She looks heartbroken. We need an s4 so bad. There is a lot more of this story to tell.

This video just reminds me how much this show needed more seasons! It needed to be picked up by another network! I needed to see a continuation. I needed to see them go through more 'stuff' in life and figure them out together. I'm pretty sure this triangle thing would have come up again 🤣😂 cause there is no wayyyyyy maya and lucas never really liked each other. I really wish it continued. This was my favorite Disney show. 😭💓 Nice edit/video btw😁🤗

What an great show sadly it ended but Riley and Maya friendship was deep but i hate how Maya had putted her friends friendship behind her happiness and i am not against it but she needs to be happy and find love and if wasnt for May who pushed Riely towards Lucas on the subway she would've never met him. (This was the last show i actually liked from disney and sadly it's gone.)

This is my favorite Lucaya ever. (And I've seen a lot trust me.) This is so perfect and beautiful and all the dislikes are probably from Rucas and Joshaya stans. The "Maya became Riley" is just a dumb story line that I don't know if it's just dumb because of stupidity or did they make it because they WANTED Josh to be manipulative (Which really seemed like the case.) like they said in the show "things are just words" which is all Rucas and Joshaya are based on WORDS! People only ship them because of words or just think they look cute together. Josh is barely on the show and then all of a sudden knows how Maya feels and suddenly likes her....don't come at me with that bullshit. Even if Lucaya ends up together (Which they better.) the storyline is still dumb. And, I don't care who gets mad at me for this but I DO NOT like Riley in season 3 they always talk about their friendship is the most important thing but it seems like in season three she only cares about a guy. Uchh done ranting.😤

Yess!! Rucas and Joshaya are just crush. Riley fell for Lucas bc of Looks. Maya fell for josh bc of looks but Maya and Lucas fell through each other over friendship and conversations. Josh definitely manipulates Maya you can see it in her facial expressions and I refuse to believe that Maya never liked Lucas. It was all a plot point just to get rucas together.

LUCAYA AND RUCAS STORY: •Lucas and Riley like each other but they’re not ready so they break up, but they still like each other •In the same time Maya start to like Lucas, but she doesn’t do anything, because she wants Riley’s happiness. Lucas likes Riley, but I think in the same time he starts to have feelings for Maya, but he confuse them for only friendship. •Riley says to Lucas he’s like a brother and Lucas is confused •At the campfire Lucas’ feelings for Maya come out and Maya’s too. •They start to dating, but it’s embarassing. • Everybody discoveres that Riley still like Lucas. •Lucas has to choose between Maya and Riley now. My opinion: I think Lucas chose Riley because he saw how Maya was looking at Josh. He thought that she had still feelings for him, so he picked Riley, but it wasn’t true that Maya loved Josh! Lucas had to choose, and she felt insicure and she tried to found distraction with Josh. And everything happened. So Maya decided to play the long game with Josh, but ONLY because Lucas picked Riley. Ok it’s a little bit confused, but I tried to explain. Sorry for some errors, English is my second lenguage!!

I know there’s two ships, but I always thought the real special relationship in this show was Riley and Maya. I hated the love triangle because it was just so ridiculous to me to mess with the best relationship of the show. At the end Maya ended with her forever love so🤷🏽‍♀️

Lucas like Maya for who she is...Maya poured a smoothie on his head because she wanted him to be himself....not to be someone who is like a perfect boyfriend.... He called her the Blonde Beauty... Lucas grabbed Maya at the campfire not cause he wanted her to stop because he wanted that...he wanted that... Riley think of Lucas as a fantasy a perfect person... Maya like Lucas to be who he is... The way his face fell down when Maya said he picked Riley...the way he asked Maya if that was what she wanted...Lucas chose to stop Maya chose to stop in the end they both got their heart broken for Riley

i don’t think that Maya “turned into Riley”, I think that she just stepped back again. “you know the last thing that i would ever want is something that’s Riley’s.” She did this because she knew that Lucas had already chose Riley, and that she could do nothing about it. Because she cared about Lucas so much ,she let Riley have Lucas. “you only know you love something when you let it go.” Maya was the one who truly liked Lucas.

Dominique Burton Lmao, Disney own freeform and their full of shit because they told freeform not to air it after it officially ends on Disney. The show could be on Netflix but Disney doesn't want to hand over the rights. Smfh
