The Late Late Show with James Corden

2 жыл бұрын

James Corden welcomes his guests Mayim Bialik and Gillian Jacobs and is stunned to learn that Mayim isn't really a fan of musical theater, and the "Jeopardy!" host shares how she got herself into trouble with Neil Patrick Harris at a show he starred in long ago. And Gillian tells James about the most rebellious thing act she did as a teenager: cut school to see an exhibit at a museum in Pittsburgh.

@@meggy0Exactly. Regardless of if she's seasoned to understand what's good and bad about theatre, being a supportive friend is just being a friend. I've had friends who even warned me before shows, "it's so bad" but did I go and cheer for said friend and applaud their work? Yes, because it still takes time and energy to create a role or performance. If it's not your thing, fine, but you're going for a friend, not your opinion. I've never liked her or her attitude. She's very pretentious and this just reminds me more of why she is very unlikeable and has a "I'm better than you BECAUSE" attitude. I'm good. @@caloss2 me applauding my friends performance is not dishonest. I would never be rude like that. Being courteous is not dishonest. She went to support her friend, knowing full well she hated theatre. So why then, make that apparent. No. She is a terrible person who feels she's entitled to project her opinions on everything when it's completely irrelevant. You see it differently, fine. I REEEALLY want to like Mayim, but every time she opens up about her life, I like her even less. What terrible person wouldn't support their friend while doing something they love? You don't have to love musicals or theater to just give a standing ovation to a friend that's brave enough to put themselves out there to be judged for the public. I'd have cut her off and never gave her a second thought. With friends like that, who needs hecklers. She just comes off as an awfully miserable and rude person.

Being mad about not receiving a standing ovation is exactly what theater people are like - save someone's life and then we'll talk about all the applause you deserve. Good God. And the musicals Mayim describes are cringey to me too as an adult (I like the performance-within-a-performance ones like Chicago and Cabaret). I think the host is coming at her hard for an opinion that many people share.

So Mayim doesn't like musicals. So what? I have much more of an issue with her flip-flopping on vaccines whenever it is convenient for her career, her shameful rebuke of women who are harassed or assaulted based on what they wear, her financial contributions to Israel's military and her endorsement of brain pills whose benefits are unsupported by science. She would be a disgrace as the permanent replacement to Alex Trebek.

I absolutely love her honesty and how open and candid she is. Most guests make themselves look as important as possible but Myiam knows how much of Hollywood is smoke and mirrors and tries not to take it all too seriously. That's the cool thing about the closing clips of Call Me Kat when the cast comes out to dance at the end, " See? We're all just actors having fun. I hope you did too!". It works for me. Neil Patrick Harris should do a cameo on her show. That would be fun!
