I am totally dismantling this Maytag Centennial Washer MVWC model with a bad transmission. The washplate has frozen onto the gear shaft and the drive hub is stuck. I will use a bottle jack to try and remove the stuck transmission

That sounds like the bearings or the transmission is bad, or you would need to replace the splutch cam
