Thank you much for this video - we had the exact same problem with leaking from the side and it looks like the injector sleeve has indeed deteriorated, so we ordered a new one from your link. Saved us lots of time and money - much appreciated!

This was about the best made repair video on You tube I've seen. It explains just what I need to know for my Maytag, which started leaking down the side. One question, what is the purpose of the air gap? Seems like it would leak/blow out the top all the time. Thanks.

The air gap is used to help prevent syphoning if the washer overflowed. Under normal water pressure, the water flow will bridge that air gap and not drip or leak.

I love the condition of this washer. I wished mine looked this good. Great video, very helpful. I'm hoping to just replace the Rubber Injector valve half way in the middle of that hose assembly.

After a bit of troubleshooting, I was able to replace mine. Thankfully, I found your video and that saved me. However, now that I have the new parts on, the water will not come on at all. The power functions, spin cycle works, but no water comes through. I don't even hear when the water would normally start. Could it be the water valve now?

I have this washer. It's old but works great and is dependable and reliable. Does this model have a valve that will pop open if it is over filled with water? I did a large load of laundry allowing the tub to fill completely and then adding a couple pairs of jeans and a couple shirts. While adding the clothes I heard a small pop noise which could be the sound of a valve popping open. Then, I heard water leaking into the metal housing followed by water running along a path on the floor to the drain. I let the washer wash the load and didn't notice anymore leaking during the entire washing. Is their an overflow valve, or what would make the pop noise and then water leaking. I'd estimate the amount of water leaked to be around a quart.

OMG.. Thank you so much.. I have this exact washer, but 30 years old.. started to leak....was purchased by original owner works fine but is starting to leak... I watched your video.. I do not know how old your washer in video is but looks exactly like mine and was able to get injector hose out with your direction.. Thank you.... I may have difficulty getting new part due to age of washer.. can you tell me the age of washer in video...I am going to inquire on the above part mentioned.. so I have his same problem... why is there no top to this white plastic thing? its 22 years old and never leaked??? where did the top go?

Thank you for the question. I believe the white plastic thing you're referring to is the air gap, and it is not supposed to have a a top. The air gap helps to stop the contaminated water in the washer from being drawn back into the main water line. I hope this answers your question!

why would it shoot water out after 20 years? I do not know why it wouldn't leak without a top?, but I see water splashing out of it now, but a lot just a cup or so everytime the water goes into the washer? weird

If you are having water leaking out of the hose at the air gap, it could be because there is damage somewhere. That would be the most logical reason that it would operate normally for 20 years, and then suddenly begin leaking. The air gap is designed that way, so the fact that it has no top should not be causing the leak, it would have always been that way the whole time you have owned your washer. You might want to check the rubber injector valve, because if that part is worn or damaged, it could cause a leak. I have a question. The white air gap part is leaking on my washer. Water spits out of it causing leaking down inside the dryer. Do you know why it would be leaking? Do I just need to replace the whole injector hose with the air gap? I thought maybe I was missing the lid or something but I can see there is no lid that goes on it. Thank you!

Looks like exactly what I'm dealing with, the white air gap part is leaking, I will take the rubber injector valve out and see if it works without it, and if it works will order that part. Thank you for your informative video and comments. Mahalo!
