This has been planned for a long while. Now I know not all these fish will be rare to everyone due to where you are in the world, but for my, all of these fish are ones that I do not see regularly in fish shops around me. I loved the idea of making a big tank with lots of shoals of nano fish and am stupidly happy with the result. It's a bit of a dream tank for me to be honest...well, maybe double the size would be the ultimate dream...maybe one day! 😊

I currently set up a no filter/heater/co2 3 gal planted globe. Tropica substrate and heavy planted mini dwarf hair grass. Custom made mount with Fluval nano led on it. Do you foresee any problems having 5 pure red line shrimp in there? Also think dwarf hg will thrive without co2? RO water remineralized with seachem equilibrium

Interested to see a follow up to this in a month or so. I keep CPD’s, Rosquito Rasbora and Cherry Shrimp a similar, but smaller set up. I’m upgrading to a 4’ this spring and was planning a similar set up. I’m in Plymouth and pass Taunton regularly, so need to check out that store for bog wood. I’ve always found the CPD’s very sensitive to water changes, hope yours fare ok. Always tended to almost drip acclimate the fresh water in. Pain in the arse, but not lost a single CPD since doing it, and now they’re breeding, so very happy with water conditions.

@@eg92257 I’ve a very well planted tank. No chance of collecting them, so I just leave um. With the baby shrimp, pest snails v’s assassin snails & misquote Rasbora darting around it’s meals on wheels in there. But, I do get half a dozen hatch each time. They all seem to of settled and maintain balanced numbers. Natural population control.

You can also liquid cyanoacrylate super glue. Just take a little bit of paper towel, wedge it between your rocks and wood and then squeeze a little of the liquid super glue, works way better than the gel for larger setups.

I love your videos, and you inspired me to get my 20 gal up and running again after a move two years ago. I am so happy with it! I did have a lot of trouble with gravel and all of the silt attached to it, and the first one, I didn't rinse the gravel, so I had to take it all out and clean the gravel. There was so much silt! I was terrified of putting it down the drains, and I dumped the silt outside on the gardens (which were covered in snow so it's not pretty!) I saw you put it down the drain, and I just gasped. Then you explained how you flush out the drains, so I guess it should be okay, just people at home, beware! Great videos though, you're my favorite aquarium guy.🐟🐠🐡🐠🐟

Make sure you're on public property and not taking too much or selling what you take (so you aren't breaking the law). It is also incredibly fun to do.

I use API leaf zone if I see plants with deficiencies. I just follow the instructions on the bottle to be honest.

I recently bought a metal tea strainer as an alternative to a plastic net or sieve for removing the floating plants on maintenance day. You can run them under the tap to give them a wash too

Your videos are always such a pleasure to watch!! I initially subscribed to your channel for the informational aspect but honestly now I come here because you have such a friendly presence and your enthusiasm for the hobby is infectious. Anything I learn along the way is a happy little bonus! This scape is super cool, the schools of all the different fish makes it such a lively tank to watch!

This tank setup is absolutely amazing! It's making me jealous and making me think about where in my home could I fit a few hundred liters of water. I love that it looks like the fish have so much room! To be fair, in my eyes the planted tank looked like a finished video too, I would have been content to wait for the next one to find out what fish get to move in there.

I think the negative space surrounding the two 'islands' really ties it all together perfectly! Sometimes the kind of higher in the back, small plants in the front big along the back can feel a bit full. To my mind this one is Perfect!

I previously had a lovely Marine setup before we moved and had children over 10 years ago. The bug for fish has never left me and I have recently been looking at starting a new tank. The cost of setting up and maintaining a good size Marine setup is astronomical. After coming across your channel I have been completely inspired to start a planted tropical setup. Keep up the great work, loving the videos.

Incredible tanks! Having kept high tech planted tanks for 11 years now, I promise 99% of the people in this comment section would be unable to take such a low maintenance approach using tap water. I don’t know if MD uses RO, however, you will never see this sort of health in your plants and livestock while only topping off and using tap water. Mine comes out the tap with a TDS over 500.

I’ve built a little nano-ecosystem for the home office with some snails, shrimp, Pygmy Cory, Kubotai rasbora, a pair of Scarlet badis and a whooole lot of plants. I barely get any work done and the badis are incredibly entertaining stalking through the undergrowth, I highly recommend! if they ever make it to merch just shut up and take my money!! Thank you so much for sharing your passion with us!
