Cady (Lindsay Lohan) sits with "the Plastics" during lunch and gets invited to return for the rest of the week.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tina Fey from Saturday Night Live wrote and appears in this comedy about the alternately funny and terrifying pecking order among teenage girls. Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) is a 15-year-old girl who has spent most of her life in Africa, where she was home-schooled by her zoologist parents. When her family relocates to the United States, Cady finds herself attending a high school in suburban Illinois, where she gets a crash course in the various sub-strata of the student body: the jocks, the cheerleaders, the stoners, the "cool" kids, and so on. Much to her surprise, Cady finds herself embraced by a clique of rich and popular girls known to outsiders as "the Plastics," led by Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Gretchen Weiners (Lacey Chabert), and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried). While Cady is grateful for her new friends, it doesn't take long for her to realize how manipulative they can be, and she soon discovers she's violated an unwritten law when she goes out on a date with Aaron (Jonathan Bennett), who is charming, good looking...and Regina's former boyfriend. It isn't long before Regina and her pals are on the warpath, and Cady must face a level of vengeful behavior for which years in the jungle never prepared her. Joining Tina Fey in the supporting cast are fellow SNL players Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, and Tim Meadows. The screenplay for Mean Girls was based in part on Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends and Other Realities of Adolescence, a book by professional youth counselor Rosalind Wiseman.

Yeah it is. Sad though how Regina really does not like Cady’s bracelet and is only saying this to “win her over.” This is confirmed later on when she tells that other girl how she likes her vintage skirt but immediately tells Cady how “it’s the ugliest f*****g skirt she’s ever seen” when the girl leaves. What a two-faced b***h!!!

She sought out their weaknesses and manipulated them. Karen was easy because she's dumb, and Gretchen is insecure about herself and seeks attention. That's what Regina was doing with Cady in this scene. She wasn't trying to be nice by giving her compliments. She was digging for her weaknesses and figuring out how to manipulate her. Cady's weakness was that she was new and clueless about public school life.

What made movies like Mean Girls , Heathers, and the Breakfast Club so iconic is that everything was so subtle; because that's the way mean high school girls are. They pretend to be nice people who are down to earth when they're really just condescending and soaking themselves in more popularity.

This scene perfectly captures what it feels like for a popular girl to talk to you, the conversation always feels so stiff and you never know how to respond and everything seems slightly ingenuine. Also, I noticed how Regina complimented Cadys bracelet but that's most likely a lie since later she does the same with the skirt on that one girl. Shows how Regina was manipulating Cady from the start.

This is just like the “grooming” process abusers use with victims in real life. They will try to “win them over” at first by being extra friendly to them or making them feel really special & important. They, also, tend to do it to people who are kind of naive and innocent, just like Cady was here, since it is easier to “lure them along” so to speak. Yet, they are just toxic and manipulative behind it all to that person which is so sad.

People keep talking about how great Rachel is as regina but we need to appreciate how natural and subdued Lindsay is as Cady! To think that she just got finished playing a typical loud mouth Disney character and was able to bring the realism to mean girls with her performance is crazy. All of her facial expressions here are expressive but in a real life way. The look she gives after the girls ask for privacy is such a good choice!

But she decided to stay away from mainstream Hollywood and works full time being an actress for Hallmark. It degrades her "acting score" but she made that choice.

This is why Regina George is the #1 best character in Mean Girls considering that she's a conniving yet very deceptive mean girl who'll do anything to become mean and popular. Add to the fact that she showed no remorse in her behavior makes her even more iconic and unforgettable.

I love Regina's subtle expressions in this scene. Pay attention how she subtly rolls her eyes at Gretchen after she explained what is "fetch" or the slight "god shes so dumb" face she did when karen asked Cady why she's white. Rachel MCAddams is such a good actress
