I’ve had a Stanley 8M tape measure for years and it's great when roughing out my timber stock prior to the fine-tuning available with the more precise iGaging tools. Having the ability to measure and check your work with confidence makes our furniture making so much more accurate, productive and less stressful. Great informative video as ever. I wasn't optimistic of finding one being in the uk so couldn't believe it when it came up. As im a serious timber scavenger its going to be invaluable, and if not for your video on the device id have never known about them so thank you.

I inherited some woodworkers squares (Marples I think) from my dad years ago. He was in the trade and warned me that, from the factory, they're only guaranteed straight and square on the inside edges.

I was in the same boat as you with those beloved squares. I have two identical to yours who were my Grandfathers, both are out around .5-1mm, gutted!

Hi Peter, accuracy has always been my Achilles Heel and I have been investing in good kit to try and improve it. Small point, when you were using the "magic cube" should you not zero it on the flat bed of your tool before transferring it to the blade?

Hello Peter. Another good video. At the 10:25 mark you show a Festool tablesaw in the video with the igaging angle gauge. What is the model number for your Festool tablesaw? I've never seen one available in the U.S. like that.

I think I'll have another look online for an igaging marking/cutting gauge in the UK. I was very keen on getting one about 6 months ago but couldn't find one that wasn't drastically overpriced due to scarcity in the UK. Any ideas Peter?

I wonder if using the term "Gubbins" is a reference to Sir Colin Gubbins the British special operations officer from WWII. Many people have never heard of him due to the fact that most of his exploits where classified secret until well into the 1970s. He was a brilliant spymaster who oversaw many inventions of war that were instrumental in defeating the Nazis. I see youre using the knob on the festool to make big jumps. if im going zero to 45° i kinda toss my kapex side to side. i figure it has to be tough. i paid enough for it and it saves me time. Do you think im doing wrong by my kapex? im not slamming it or anything. just hustling trying to make a buck fixing other peoples mistakes. i bought that saw, made 1 cut, felt a huge difference in how stable it felt (aside from the other great features) and sold the dust throwing, large, heavy, hard to bevel from the back 12 inch dewalt sliding compound miter saw and never looked back. sorry to get off topic. im a newer woodworker (painting is my main trade) and am soaking in all the info i can. people think im a finish carpenter now when they see my work.. festool plays a big part.

If you go to your local trading standards department you can check your measure against their local measure which is compared against the nation measure standard. It’s accurate.

Festool makes a table saw?
