Thanks again for driving thinking! As you stress, all forces are to be interpreted as shifting of balancing opposing stimuli. (AKA dialectics). A corollary of this is everything must be interpreted in a context. Useful principle. As an aside, I rankle at the use of the word "senile" (also seen in senile amyloidosis and elsewhere), ... As long as we are revisiting past problems. Maybe senior, or age-related.

Your point is well taken, Dr. Sadofsky. I think the semantic error is in the use of the word "senile" to refer to loss of mental faculties. Originally, the term was, I believe, senile dementia, where senile means "related to aging" and the modifier was used to distinguish this type of dementia from other types of dementia. With time, it was shortened simply to senile, particularly in casual conversation, usually with a pejorative meaning. I don't think the term "senile" is used to refer to age-related dementia by physicians (and others) who are mindful. As always, thank you for your thoughtful comments and support!
