Follow along in realtime as I paint this simple halberdier or billman from the 14 - 15th century. Includes techniques for painting metal, leather and blue fabric.

I've watched a few of your painting tutorials now, & for a person like myself, who hasn't been able to paint in quite a while, I've found them very, very helpful. Great painting, and Its actually great to be able to see what you are actually doing. A lot of painting tutorials forget this, which makes them quite useless. It's given me that bit of confidence to get back on the brushes again. 😊🥇🏆😁

Thanks. I prefer the real-time painting. I also appreciate watching a simple figure like this in order to see basic techniques in action.

Thanks for another great painting display Christy. I do quite like the real time painting method which can always be speeded up if required using the video controls on here.I also have a couple of suggestions:1. Could you do another tutorial on face painting that might include different techniques for different skin types/colours, facial hair (e.g. beard, stubble...) and just ordinary hair etc. You could even do a non-acrylic painting example. I did a warlord games metal 28mm drummer figure today and all the heads come separately from the bodies so make a nice mini painting project on their own to go with the highly ornamental drummer. All the little heads look good.2. Could you also revisit your tutorial on making banners for making 28mm Napoleonic flags/standards/pennants etc. I think this would be really popular.I know you've done these or similar before but I think your techniques, at least for face painting, have evolved since the original videos.Keep up the good work.

The real-time painting is helpful to see how you're doing the layering & blending. I would like to see more of that in future, even if it's not all the time. (Time to German Camo Black Brown: 22:05)

I agree 100%. To see you blending in real time is much more informative than the speeded up ones. I do realize that you are under time restraints in these videos, but a little real time here and there would, to me, be more helpful to those who are newer to the art of painting small figures. Keep up the great work my friend. :-)

I've watched a lot of your videos and oddly this is one of my favorite ones. I think because it covers painting a figure that everyone who does miniature wargaming (Saga) is going to have to paint a 100 times. And its nice to see that even the common "pawn" of the game can look so great.

I liked the realtime painting. It showed me just how good of a result you can get with good techniques in very little time, great for the rank and file.

Hi Christy Another great figure/ great tutorial. You asked for an opinion on the real time / sped up video. I really think you should sort of mix/match. It probably adds complexity to the editing process- what part to speed up/ slow down... I indicate this because I've seen other really good painting tutorials ruined because a complex figure takes hours to paint and they show the entire process in real time- sort of like watching paint dry- no thanks. Just my opinion Thanks for another great tutorial Steve

Fantastic! Have seen how Andy chambers painted skaven in white dwarf 137? (Old article, google it or view it on scribed). Could you give us some thoughts on how to achieve this more earthy and low fantasy look. Thanks for your tutorial it was great. Subbed.

Thanks Christy, that was really helpful (as usual). I love painting late medieval figures. By the way, do you have any tips on brush maintenance. I just bought some sable brushes for the first time and I really want to look after them.

I talk a bit about it in my FAQ video I think? But generally I'm pretty lazy / bad about it myself. I don't take very good care of my own brushes and replace them more often than I should have to! :-D
