INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Use your headphones for a better experience!
2) Inhale through your nose or mouth, filling your lungs fully and exhale through your mouth, letting the air out. Maintain a steady pace and fully utilize the diaphragm. Repeat this 40 times.
3) Then let the air out and hold for as long as you can without force. Hold your breath until you feel the sigh reflex or feel an urge to breath in.
4) Inhale to full capacity. Feel your chest expanding. When you are at full capacity, hold the breath for around 15 seconds.
5) Repeat this process for 6 times!
6) Close your eyes, relax and go with the flow. Enjoy & have fun! :)
*Do not do this practice before or during diving, driving, swimming, taking a bath or any other environment/place where it might be dangerous to faint!

First time completing repetitions up to 7min. after several rounds up to 5min. Keys for me: Find meditative anchors: tingling, feel the heart beat, slow it down. Believe in yourself....

@@aquavirgio may I suggest not just filling your stomach and your chest but fill yourself up to the top of your head inhale FURTHER than what think is possible..the intercostal muscles between your ribs hold a lot of tension and must be stretched.. on exhale ALLOW your body to LET GO of all stress and tensions as to not use energy/oxygen to do so thereby increasing your retention.

@@aquavirgio i have heard wim say 8. i think he is being coy. i have met a few people in the youtube comments section who hold for well over 8 so i imagine Wim would also be able to hold longer than 8. the record is 10:50, as far as i am aware... this is totally possible with practice.

@@anotheryogateacher8499 Do you have proof (other then taking the word of someone on youtube) of anyone holding there breath for 10:50 after the "exhale"? The Guiness World record is just over 11 minutes (non oxygen aided) He set the record of holding his breath after the "inhale" not "exhale"

there are a few things i have found very helpful learning this breathing technique.... the obvious things like, actually do it on a regular basis, listen to the basic instructions from Wim like, let go, relax, take ice bath, mindset, etc after the basics... the next thing i found most helpful was using a video like "medit-o-rama" to practice..and very important: CHOOSE A VIDEO WHERE THE FIRST FEW BREATH HOLDS ARE VERY DOABLE, THE NEXT ONE OR TWO ARE MILDLY STRESSFUL, AND ONLY THE LAST BREATH HOLD IS HELD TO THE MAX!!! maybe it is different for some other people... but for me this was one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. i practiced for years and was stuck at 3;30-4 minutes, once in a while getting over 4 minutes. when i found medit-o-rama and employed the above ALL CAPS insight, that's when i started to quickly jump up to 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 minutes and more. i would love to hear from the other people doing this video and others like it if there was anything that helped them break through? i have a couple more little techniques that i use that i think are very helpful, maybe those are too personal to be helpful to others... i am not sure.... thank you Wim!!! thank you medit-o-rama!! thank you KZfaq! and thank you to the people in the KZfaq comments section!

@@meditorama i use to do all kinds of different pranayama i could find. ever since i was 19 years old. you name it, if it is in a yoga book, i've done it. but i basically stopped all that when i started doing the wim hof breathing exercise. not to dis on all those other pranayama exercises but they just didn't have the dramatic impact that the wim hof did. the only other pranayama i do now is the 6 seconds in 6 seconds out, some people call it heart resonance breathing, i am sure you have heard of it. i do it before (and sometimes also after) the wim hof breathing. i think after some more time focusing on those two pranayamas maybe all the other pranayamas might be more usefull. (maybe the music/sounds in your videos would also help with these pranayamas!) it felt to me that maybe things like alternate nostril breathing were more fine tuning and my nervous system, even after 25 years of pranayama and asana, was way out of wack. not a little bit, but a lot. the wim hof has really helped calm my deep nervous system. i hear a lot of people talking about vagus nerve... i am not well studied on that topic but i can tell that mine used to be all messed up and the wim hof was the first thing that really made a dramatic change. i guess that is a long winded (sorry!) way of saying "not really". BTW i have my mom, my wife, my 7 year old and a number of my friends doing your videos in the morning and they all love your channel. the videos with much shorter timings are very helpful to the young and old!! thanks again! keep up the good work!

When the brain doesn’t get enough oxygen, brain cells begin to die. Cell death happens within 5 minutes of low oxygen. People who recover from cerebral hypoxia may have lifelong problems, such as: Cognitive impairment or memory loss. Personality changes. Poor judgment or inability to focus. Problems with balance, coordination or walking. Spasticity (full body muscle contractions) or muscle spasms. Speech and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). Vision problems.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with you. The brain is fully oxygenated at the end of each breathing session. In fact I'd say the whole body is probably more oxygenated than any other time. I think the effects you list might happen if you didn't do any deep breathing before holding your breath for so long. I have been doing this for almost 3 years now and when I did my first 7 mi use breath hold I had a feeling of calm and clarity in my brain that was profound . I feel more physically fitter at 57 than during my 30's and 40's and feel the healthiest and most focused I have ever felt. I think this is a wonderful self healing practice second to none. I am very grateful to medio- magic for their great videos

Looks like somebody does not know anything about these excises ,history , and never done them in their lives. You have no clue what you are talking about because you have not done any research on the subject before speaking your mind. There are hundreds of thousands of people doing this for decades and enough research by scientist to back up all the health benefits, not just our anecdotes. The whole point to all of this , is to bring more oxygen to your body and hypoxia is part of the exercise but the body is left with more oxygen after it. Some us use an oxygen meter to measure ourselves. Please inform yourself before just been another useless comment in internet.
