Tried this myself today with a cup that hasn't come clean in a long time. It looks brand new! I can't believe I ever struggled with soap and water, thanks so much for this tip!

PSA for those in the States: Baking Soda = Bicarbonate of Soda =)

For glass teaware I just use lemon juice (like, from actual lemons). put a little in, fill to the brim with water, put the lid on, let it sit for 20-30 minutes and rinse out with water/sponge/spout brush. never let me down so far.

For anyone having trouble with their clay teapots. I once had a strange stain in a clay teapot. At first I thought it was patina, but it made my tea taste really bad and it was only on the lower half of the pot, so maybe it was some weird fungus growing because of my lazy cleaning. So what I did was simply put bicarb soda in the pot, topped it off with boiling water (it also starts bubbling with hotter water) and then just left it for about 30 min. After that everything was as good as new, no weird smell in the pot and the tea tasted perfectly again. Wiped it out with a clean cloth and that's it. I hope this helps someone :) Edit: Also I had a stain on a milky glass tea cup which would not go away. Toothpaste did the job!

We call the bicarbonate of soda "baking soda" in USA and I use white distilled vinegar but I bet citric acid is betta. Great video Celine, it was fun seeing you lead it for a change. You both are keeping things fresh!

2 of my favorite cleaning products. :) I keep baking soda in a squeeze bottle on my kitchen sink for scouring pots and pans or anything else with tough stains. I also use citric acid to descale my electric tea kettle. :) Very useful video!

Hey guys! Great video! I usually use hot water with a little vinegar and I let it sit for 10-15 minutes. It works pretty well but you'll need to give it a Avril with a sponge.

A little late to the viewing-party on this, but it popped off in my recommended and it was great; thanks, Celine 🙌🏼 It’s reassuring to know if you don’t rinse things properly or haven’t the time to spend doing it and forget when you go to use them again, that this can’t hurt you in any way; taste irrelevant, it’s the synthesised chemicals that make not rinsing properly scary with most commercial cleaners, so it was good to hear you tell us how these things are natural and therefore, not a substantial risk as with some of their counterparts 👍🏼👌🏼😁 Cheers, beaut 😘 PS. I use baking soda lemon juice, and my own idea…Dried shaved off pieces of the young coconut husk, a good reusable and varied sizes it’s soft/spongy yet abrasive enough. Gets stains off well!

No criticism here except that it can be even easier. Sprinkle some baking soda right into your teaware, give it a dash of vinegar (more convenient than going out and trying to find citric acid, but it you want you can squeeze in some lemon juice) and wipe it out with a dish cloth (and rinse obviously).

...You guys are great...best tea education ...since citric acid is lemon juice I just put a squeeze in my glass gong dao bei and some b soda with a damp dish sponge mop and that did the trick...I usually use a used half squeezed lemon turned inside out with b soda to scrub my stainless sink...my GDB sparkles !

A lot of people have asked where can we find the tea boat that is used in many of these and that question never seems to get answered. Does anyone know the answer? I'm not asking about the Gung Fu tray. The Tea Boat is different. I have searched and can't find one.

Nice video and thanks for the tips! But I do have one comment: I am not too sure that I like the fact that you call other products that could be used for 'chemicals', since both bicarbonate of soda and citric acid are very much also chemicals (just like anything else here in this world). Though I guess that it is just the chemist in me that is complaining about that. Again, nice video and keep up delivering the nice content!

I’ve gotten several family and friends into tea. For those who aren’t, they tend to love coffee. I just spent $18 on 5lb of citric acid and 5lb of baking soda. I’m going to mix them, jar them up, and have Christmas gifts for everyone!

For my water kettle I just add a dash of lemon juice to a bit of water and let it boil. I live where the mineral content of our faucet water is high. So you can see a build up of a white powder on the bottom of the kettle over time. It's also good to then pour in our drains! :)

I'm wondering about the quality of teaware and how that affects how much it stains and then how easy or impossible it is to clean those stains. Would appreciate a word or two about that!

One more thing, I know you've done a video on boiled water in the past, but could you find out more regarding boiling for sterilization, charcoal filtering, and using the Grander board for re-energizing the water? Am I missing out on the true taste of tea, or improving it? Will you try and do a tasting video? Please?

Here in the U.S., we call bicarbonate of soda baking soda. I find that a little baking soda in a little warm water is almost always all I need to clean tea ware when done a a regular basis. I just add water, a spoon or so of baking soda and a wipe with a rag. A quick rinse and I'm done.
