The greatest voice over artist that ever existed! It's insane to realize that he voiced nearly every character in the most iconic cartoons the world will ever know. The incomparable Looney Tunes. Unapproached by any other creations in history. I was shocked that he was the voice of Woody Woodpecker as well. WHY NOT!! Like the phenomenal Stan Lee of Comic Book fame, Mel Blanc stands alone in his genre. I can't think of any two men that were as far beyond their peers at anything as these twin geniuses. One created characters on the printed page. The other gave animated characters their life through his unimaginable vocal gifts. Watch any Looney Tunes cartoon. Can you imagine any other voice with these characters? Mel Blanc was not only the "Man of a Thousand Voices." He was the man of 1,000 perfectly matched voices to every character!! THE WORLD WILL NEVER SEE HIS LIKE AGAIN.

Love love love Mel! For 70+ years. A fun actor, as well as a great voice actor. Catch some of his routines with Jack Benny, and others. He was also the 'voice' of Jack's car. When he passed away, there was a picture of all the WB characters he had voiced, standing with their heads down, before an empty microphone, and the caption read 'Speechless'. Such a moving tribute. June Foray did the WB female voices. Witch Hazel was a favorite. June was also Rocky Squirrel and Natasha for Jay Ward, among other voices. In an interview, Mel was asked what he thought of people saying that June Foray was the female Mel Blanc. He replied that he thought of himself as the male June Foray. RIP, Mel, and June, and thanx so very much, for the magic, music, and memories.

Years ago,in the early '80s. I was at an amusement park and I was a restless teenager watching a 'Bugs & Friends' show. So I walked all the way up to the sound booth. I looked inside, it was dark inside with red lightning and and saw this 'old man' with a cigarette in his hand. When he spoke, to my delight, I instantly recognized who he was! I would alternately look at the characters and Mr. Blanc sycophantic timings. He made it look so easy. He seemed almost 'bored' by it all. A true genius at work! ..."and thats all folks!"

A few years before Mel passed away I wrote him a fan letter and I included a drawing of a couple of comic characters that I created.and I left the word balloons blank above them. I asked Mel to fill in the word balloons with whatever he thought my two characters were saying to each other. . Not only did he send me an autographed photo , he also sent me back my drawing and he DID fill in the word balloons . So, in a sense, I got Mel Blanc to speak for my characters ...Mel Blanc was a class act all the way. He didn't create any of the famous Warner Bros. cartoon characters , but he gave MANY of them their personalities. We miss you, Mel...Rest in peace !

Mel was originally supposed to voice Yosemite Sam in Roger Rabbit. But by that point, the voice was way too hard for him. So they got, one of the actors who would later take over Mel’s characters for years in the 90s up to the 2010s, Joe Alaskey! Joe did Sam and unsurprisingly from Joe, due to him being an incredible actor, was spot on. He was so spot on, Joe fooled Mel. When Mel saw the film, he thought they kept his original recording and said to himself “Oh my Lord, they did a great job with what I’ve done”

After shooting the car commercial, Blanc checked himself into the hospital, a nurse called his son Noel and suggested sending his dad home with an inhaler or keeping him at the hospital overnight. Mel decided instead to stay overnight, which was his undoing. Staff forgot to lift up bed rails in his room, Mel fell out of bed, his femur broke and a blood clot traveled to his brain. It’s a nasty death, and this is never mentioned on his Wikipedia page.

Well Mel certainly made me smile over the years....and outright laugh! He is truly a *TREASURE,* with a rich and hilarious legacy that he left the world! Thank you Mel...and thank you Dizographies for this biography on Mel, with your little amusing touches. He would have gotten a kick out of them. Cheers from British Columbia, Canada 🥰

I wonder if he has a Hollywood Star with his name on it. That would be fantastic and so well deserved. I grew up in the 80s listening to his voice. 😊

I just discovered your channel by watching the Dizography that was done on the phenomenal Mel Blanc. I ABSOLUTELY loved it!!! As such, I gave it a GREAT, BIG, HUMONGOUS “thumbs up.“ I loved it so much, in fact, that I subscribed to the channel and also chose to get all of the notifications for it. I look forward to seeing many more of the Dizographies that this channel has to offer. Thank you for making this wonderful channel! Please keep up the incredible work!
