You can really see in the clips that Kendalls face was super red after taking offf the makeup. I think she was legitimately having an allergic reaction. The fact that she was being yelled at to look a way she hated while having an allergic reaction to the thing that was making her look “ugly” on national television is so awful to do to a child

Does Abby really think comparing Mackenzie to Maddie harshly is going to inspire her? It was also sad hearing Melissa think that Abby hates Kenzie. I loved Melissa standing up for her children more!

the producers were clearly manipulating the Vertez’s with the looks based solo. based on the moms’ testimony, Jill’s husband has never seen her without makeup in the years they’ve been married; that woman is obsessive with controlling how she looks/ensuring she always looks presentable. All of jill’s kids are stunningly beautiful (while all “having some work done”). imagine how poor kendall felt, being forced to look old and intentionally ugly when she has had such a look-focused upbringing. especially as a woman, all of your worth is placed into how you physically present yourself. kendall’s entire life she has been told she is a “beautiful young girl,” so naturally that is where she would default to putting her worth

It’s so interesting how there was no mentions of Melissa saying ‘’I know so much stuff’’. It was SO chopped so there had to be more said.

I know Kendall isn’t the second girl ,but can you blame her ,if someone told u for years that your number 2 ,you would think your number 2.

to me, brynn was never second to maddie. they obviously tried, but they never really made her the "replacement" for maddie. kalani was truly the leader of the team, she always gave pep talks to the other girls, abby was always pointing out how kalani knew every step and was the most advanced of all the girls. nia was seemed to be second to kalani as well once maddie left.

I do think Kendall had some sort of reaction to that makeup considering how red her face was im the exact same way but could have been handled so differently its so sad to see how JOJO is now

In my opinion, I think she saw nobody as Maddie's second because to her nobody could be like her. Plus, everyone was always compared to her in every rehearsal.

I'm not the only one who noticed that there just seemed to be fewer competitors in later seasons. Some of those dance competitions seemed very sparse

The way Abby kept those girls clawing for the #2 spot was so sad because none of them were EVER going to get it. It belonged to Kalani from the day she set foot in that studio. She was a beautiful, amazing, dancer… but they all were. And they were all very capable of leading and being led. I would completely ignore the “moratorium” on anything but dance. If it doesn’t apply to everyone, it doesn’t apply to me

I’m glad Melissa stood up for Mackenzie, but honestly she had way too many chances to do so over the years. It kinda made me mad that she would wait so long to stand up for her kid.

First thing I did notice with the makeup is that her face was turning red. She may have been melting down over the look but honestly I think it was an allergic reaction too which with her anxiety would SO trigger a meltdown because pain/itching is another sensory irritation when you're already worked up. (Also if her skin is that sensitive then stress would make it worse)

Can we not talk about how over it Melissa was in Season 6? I think S6 Melissa would’ve gotten along with Christi. She actually fought back for Mackenzie and constantly walked out in most of the drama like the fight with Ashlee vs Kendall. Or her walking out when Kira got mad at Abby.

So Abby is fine with Nia twerking in her solo, but the last dance is inappropriate according to her🤔

as someone who has super sensitive skin i 100% think kendall had a reaction to her make up. you can see how red her skin is so it wouldn’t surprise me. i even get super red skin from taking off face masks sometimes so make up can do the same thing to me

Hoping this observation isn't too out of left field: This is like the 3rd video i've seen recently, where in s6ish Abby demonstrates the actions of holding up pyrimid/rehearsals in her office, and then comes out to the group, wipes/sniffs her nose, and acts even moreso erratic & unhinged.....

10:01 I did have a feeling that Kendall had a Latex allergy which can be fatal if it is a trigger for anaphylaxis. But I will state that Kendall should not have peeled it off as it can rip skin off. Anyone who has done theatre or Sfx makeup knows that you need to use a remover like isopropyl mirastate to remove latex safely. Anyone who is allergic to latex should just stick to creating wrinkles using brown eye pencils or cream products.

Kendall may have been crying about the makeup because it was causing an allergic reaction, sure, but at the same time wouldn’t they have known when she did Not Just Another Pretty Face? Then again, that was significantly less latex and also could have been an alternative.

everyone keeps referring back to the redness in kendall's face (after taking off the makeup) as evidence of the allergic reaction, but i have to disagree. taking off makeup (in any capacity) can leave your face pretty red and patchy looking - especially considering the fact that kendall had been crying, and it appears that they began taking the makeup off in a pretty haphazard-manner. i think it's most likely that kendall really was just feeling a little insecure in that moment... and that's perfectly ok? i dont quite understand why we'd need to come up w some other reason to defend her reaction. she was a teenage girl growing up in a highly-exploitative, looks-based industry that thrives off of critiquing the appearances of others. it makes perfect sense to me why she'd be crying there and i dont think she ever looked like a brat for that, personally. if anything, i think her being upset over the look is even more cause-for-concern than an allergic reaction, as it speaks-heavily to how much emphasis those poor kids had put on their appearances growing up

Abby was a racist.. Kendall got 3rd.. Nia beat her at 2nd place with a shit a routine.. but gives Kendall another solo.. Nia was a better dancer than all of them.

I don’t know how you can see Kendall’s behavior as not being bratty here. If it was legitimately an allergic reaction, then of course it was right to remove the makeup. If she simply didn’t like it and didn’t want to portray the character, she shouldn’t be a performer.

No Kendall was being a brat. Kendall had been a dancer for years at ALDC at that point. They’ve had dances with crazy make up, but she was upset because it was a solo and it was “old looking make up.” Every other child in ALDC, maybe except Maddie, wouldn’t have been able to get away with taking it off.

I definitely think Kendall was being bratty and unprofessional when it came to the makeup. If she had booked a stage show or a part in a movie, would it be acceptable for her to cry and take the makeup off? No. No matter how young she was, that would have gotten her fired, and rightfully so. Other dancers have danced with blood dripping in their eyes, painful masks, in an air bubble, giant head pieces, with their arms tied behind their back, and for better or worse, they went on stage and performed their number with what they were given. Kendall received professional makeup to help elevate the story she was supposed to be telling. She was given an advantage, but every time Kendall is challenged, she and her mother throw a tantrum over it.

Kendal needs to buck up…
