In the Navy, it was often, "hurry up and wait." Most of the guys that he served with would pull out a pack of cigarettes whenever they were sitting around. He picked up the habit. Grandma told the story about enjoying some time with him when he was on leave from the ship. He was a young and healthy man. He was used to having no limits. The two of them saw a hill; and they decided to climb up to the top of it to have their picnic lunch. Grandpa was surprised and disgusted at himself that he was out of breath when he got to the top of what should have been an easy climb. Out of habit, once stopped, he pulled out a cigarette. She says that he tossed it down without smoking it. He never smoked another cigarette in his life, even when he went back to the fleet for the rest of the war. It's far healthier and safer to never give into the temptation in the first place. Some people are unable to stop, once they start.

I was really depressed for a while and I smoked for 6 days straight then I realized how it makes breathing more difficult. imagine how damaging it can be for a singer and dancer who needs to be healthy to have a long lasting career. it is not a crime for sure but it is harmful for him and his younger fans. personally, whenever I see someone smoking I can't help wanting to smoke again although I am not addicted to it.

Very true, Yes I love JK and I’m afraid of what his health esp voice/vocal cords will be in the future. Singing is his passion, his treasure and his wealth so he better needs to take care of his health. True Fans will really be concerned for you JK. Smoking (or vaping) in general is bad no matter how old or young a person is. Lung cancer, oral/throat cancer, respiratory complications, tooth cavities, vascular complications are caused by smoking. We don’t want that to happen to you our beloved idol JK.

Personally, I don't like when people smoke too. It's bad for our health. I don't agree with his choices but Jungkook is an adult which means he will take responsibility for his own actions. Sometimes, the environment also can influence that action such as stress, bad circle of people, curiosity, etc.

It was what my mom died from as well. Back in the day cigarettes came with coupons which would help you buy things. My mom bought a lot of things we needed ...a washer and dryer being one of the items her coupons bought that she was most proud of. She had to have started smoking early because even as a toddler I can remember the full cigarette trays scattered around the house. When I was old enough to understand that smoking was not this good thing that she had made it out to be, I asked her to quit. She told me then that smoking was the only way to relieve a lot of stress she was dealing with in her life. As I became a teenager my mom finally met a good guy. Our home was free from the heavy tension that had been thick in our home for years. Even though her stress was less she continued to smoke. Then when my brother had issues with his wife, my mom took in his kids to help him get back on his feet. They stayed with us for about 5 or 6 years but her smoking increased. Then she told me one time that she found menthol cigarettes seemed lighter and she could breathe better after one so she switched to exclusively menthol cigarettes. The only man I will ever consider in my life as "dad" even tried to convince her to stop smoking by saying he'd buy her a brand new, off the lot, pick up truck. Something my mom had really wanted. My mom could not stop. Things got worse as she was in and out of the hospital dealing with her breathing. She had walking pneumonia so often the doctor had her a prescription already written for the "next time it happened". After staying days in the hospital she would light up another cigarette the moment she got in the car to go home from the hospital. Deep down I knew it in my heart that she was dying and there was nothing I could do for her. At one point she came home with an oxygen tank. When I got married she came to the ceremony but she looked so haggard. When I had my first child she was there. I had a no smoking rule for the house and most everyone would abide by it, but my mom was always upset by it. She thought it was a way of telling her I was kicking her out of my house, out of our lives so I had to have a huge discussion with her about it. My husband's mom has asthma really bad and cigarette smoke triggers one of her attacks. We'd always invite our families to the kids' birthday parties and at my eldest's second birthday party my mom broke down and told me that it would be the last time she ever climbed the stairs to my house. I remember dad helping her to their truck and they left with her crying. It was the last time I would see her come to my house. A month after my daughter's third birthday we got the phone call to come to see my mom at the hospital. All the family would be there. It felt like it was an end. What completely tore me down was when the doctor took me and my other siblings into a room alone with him. My mom never had cancer...but the doctor did say that the CO2 levels in her blood were so high that the oxygen they had her hooked up to was not able to be absorbed. They sent her home with hospice and on the trip home they had to revive her twice. I went back home after visiting with her that final night. At 3:45 am March 17th, 2006 (the following morning), I was awoken by a phone call from my dad saying she had passed away. Why I share this is not because I want sympathy for my terribly addicted mom, but I want to use it as a cautionary tale. Many of us know smoking is bad for you...but many still do it. Many get hooked to it and find it hard to stop. Many offer excuses why they should smoke too. Many will tell you they are going to quit too...and may never do so. The one fact remains....those who choose to do this are people who made that choice and did so without regard for the consequences. I have also had to share this story with my kids as they were growing up so I could let them see what smoking meant to me and how it had the power to take people from your life. Yet despite how much I love them and want to protect them, I cannot and will not live my life making their decisions for them. I will help guide them with the knowledge I've acquired over the years but ultimately they must live the life they choose for themselves. I told them about mom because I wanted them to know that they could experience the same things or something similar. I wanted them to be informed on what has happened in the past so they hopefully won't make those same mistakes. That is how I chose to parent. We are all human who are prone to making mistakes. It is through our mistakes that we experience and gain knowledge in our life. It is through learning by our past mistakes how to become better version of ourselves. I think it's important to share our own stories with others so they can take what you have experienced and add that to the knowledge they've already gained over their lifetime, so their choices become more informed. Every choice has a consequence. Whether they are good or bad, it's just another lesson in life. The members of BTS and every other idol are human beings...prone to making mistakes....Give them advice where you can, but don't command what they do with their life. All life is precious and should be given the opportunity to make their own choices and grow from their consequences. When you TELL them what to do you are trying to take away their ability to think for themselves. Truly that should be considered a real crime. Love and Light! :)

Yes but some of us also still support the members we just don’t support actions like this. For me I’ve grown up with the standard of no smoking and so watching someone I look up to do something I’ve been told is bad, hurts. It’s not like I’m trying to control their actions, this is just something I’ve been reminded my entire life. And I talk so highly about the members to my family so if they see them doing something like this, they will question the things I support. Now obviously he’s not going to go off of my life but seeing the members do things like this just hurts.

Ayolah mereka Hanya Manusia biasa yang berbakat, bukan Tuhan & mereka bisa membuat kesalahan, sama seperti kita..jadi ambil saja sisi positive-nya (kerja keras-nya,perilaku baiknya, hasil karyanya) & buang Dan Jangan ditiru sisi negatifnya yang tidak cocok dengan prinsip kehidupan anda (selalu harus anda Filter & tidak harus selalu anda dukung apapun yang idol anda lakukan,mereka punya kehidupannya sendiri),tapi saya mengerti jika anda yang sangat mengidolakannya kecewa jika kelakuan idola kalian tidak seperti idola / panutan yang kalian harapkan..karena itu saya lebih memilih untuk mengagumi / mencintai mereka secara biasa / normal saja / tidak berlebihan supaya tidak merasa sakit juga secara berlebihan ( padahal kita Hanya penonton,bukan pemilik IDOL,tapi bisa mengerti jika Sangat Mencintai itu akan merasa Sangat Memiliki & ingin IDOL-nya Tidak Salah Mengambil Jalan Keputusan untuk kehidupan mereka sendiri (walau masing2 "Army" sebenarnya juga memiliki prinsip kehidupan tentang Salah & Benar-nya juga sendiri2 yang bisa berbeda dengan Army lain nya)..yang kita bisa lakukan sebenarnya hanyalah mendoakan /meminta pertolongan Tuhan Supaya mereka dalam proses hidupnya selalu mendapat perlindungan & pengasawan / teguran Tuhan untuk mengembalikan mereka kembali ke Jalan yang benar (menurut Tuhan) jika mereka secara tidak sadar sudah membuat kesalahan pengambilan keputusan (yang bisa merusak hidupnya) & kurasa itulah arti Cinta yang sebenar Benar-nya... The person who uploaded photo admitted it was edit & deleted the account. There are also editors who have analized the photo also say it was edited. Still he continues to be dragged for those photos. Strange they never took a video like they did for JK definitely sus. It was pretty disgusting what was said about him & how he was attacked. No one seemed to understand back then how convenient for you to be understanding now that it's JK & all kind of excuses used which were not aceptable for Taehyung back then. Hypocritical much.🫤 Also how do you know it's a vape it looks like a permanent marker to me . A friend of mine lives in Spain & she said that there are permanent markers that look like that. Saying you won’t become an addict to smoking (or drinking which they also do a lot) is ridiculous. These things are addictive as anyone who has tried to stop will tell you. Just because they are idols doesn’t make them immune to addictions. How many famous and talented people have had their lives and careers ruined by addictions?.

I’m going to say one more thing because Dave always raises some interesting points and this should be part of the conversation I think. BTS is successful because of the incredible investment of time and money that ARMY has given to them. Yes they are talented and have worked hard, but let’s be honest, it is ARMY that devotes an unbelievable amount of time and financial resources to them that has made them who they are and as successful (including financially successful) as they are. They know this also. It is not a bad thing and I’m glad for them. However, an investor in a company expects that those they invest their time and resources into will respect that investment and not do anything to deliberately harm or damage the investment. If I had devoted a significant amount of my time and financial resources into them and then I saw members choosing to do things that they know will damage their abilities and therefore harm what I have invested into, it is logical that I would be unhappy. An investor in a company would withdraw their resources and some fans do the same when they see damage being done. It is a logical and appropriate response. Celebrities want things both ways. Invest your hard-earned money and valuable time in me, but don’t get upset when I choose to do things that will harm your investment. That for me is where the problem lies. Yes it is about caring that they are making poor life choices, but the response is also one that sees it as a slap in the face for the sacrifices made for their success. When the investment of time and resources involves people who do need to live lives that have autonomy or a whole other set of problems arise, finding the balance is tricky. The upshot is BTS should be free to make their own life choices and in return they should not be upset that fans are reacting to their choices and choosing to pull their investment of time and money. They should not get upset if their choices result in less success. They are free to make those choices and should accept the consequences without complaint.

This is America, artists can do anything there, and then it’s fashionable to talk about addiction in different shows. I don't want Jungkook to become like many others.

I am an army too since 2014and U say love and protect if u love someone u stop them from doing dangerous things, things that can scar them for life, things that can ruin their future. Honestly i am not really happy to see jungkook smoking
