Jimin & TaeTae are best friends within the group, they're the same age, they went to school together when they were trainees and spent literally 247 together. They even have the song they wrote together about their friendship. So of course Jimin would do everything he could to support not just a member but his best friend. I'm learning Korean and also some mandarin and Japanese and let me tell you some of the cultural practices/ words etc I came across in my early days of learning Asian traditional culture had my head spin. I'm lucky that where I grew up in Australia is massively multicultural with a huge Asian population so I was completely unprepared. Asian culture has a bath house society still to this day and communal bathing is a normality that in the west is looked at as kind of perverted or kinky. So there is a very big difference in culture and you must be open minded and learn about the country of your Idol or that you visit!

I am a 63 year old Army. Been with BTS for 7 years and never in those 7 years questioned or wondered or cared to know each members sexual preferences. They can bang each other and it would not matter to me. What matters to me a true fan is their music and shows like The Ssop and Run BTS.

I listened to all Taehyungs's new songs numerous times because I love his voice, but never got the impression he sang about a male lover. He sang about love that once was, and how nostalgic he felt about the past relation. So, I leave it to him and his heart, not sure he even wrote the lyrics. As for the Smoke dance challenge, both Taehyung and Jungkook did great in their own different styles. Jk showed his manly, a bit agressive , sharp, precise moves, while Tae did a spot on, softer, fluent performance, both very beautiful. Tae almost looks like he hasn't a bone in his body, they really enjoy every one of these challenges and amaze us over and over again . 💜💜

Open up your minds and see thè whole beautiful human being they are and all the wonderful beautiful things they are creating. The one track mind is making you miss out on so many things. Jimin and Tae love each other very much. They are soulmates. They have seen each other through some really tough times such as Tae’s beloved grandmother passing. Everyone tries to put them at odds with each other because shippers think Jimin comes between Tae and Kookie and vice versa. They have their own little world of bestie that even Joonie said can’t be fully understood outside of the two of them. This friendship should be protected at all costs. I hope they become 65 year old men that still meet together on the weekends for coffee (something else for Tae to drink since he doesn’t like coffee) just like the cute Korean grandpas I saw in K-Town. 💜💜💜

I've never heard of "Testical friend", but the way you explain it, it makes so much sense. There's an enduring overtone to it, to me. I understand it COMPLETELY. People think negatively about everything! I think sometimes jealousy and not being admired like the members of BTS are, it makes a lot of people literally hate that a rumor is not true of the guys. This is really crazy. How many years & how many concerts showed Tae & JK acting affectionate toward each other? When pictures were posted in Times Square, one was that widely published picture of Tae in a white blouse with a feminine hat & eyeglasses with a chain. In one of his photoshoots where his hair is slicked down, he had 2 sparkling barrettes of different colors. I didn't hear all the questioning then about Tae's sexuality. There is nothing in his current songs or videos to suggest it. He is not shown with a man. His lyrics in slow dancing mentions a girl and he isn't wearing anything feminine unless you think his Bowie tribute was feminine. I don't know where/why you think someone is questioning it now? I think you are making stuff up that's controversial to get people to watch your videos.

There is nothing in the Layover videos or lyrics that would suggest he is singing about a man. The songs on the album are those that Tae chose that reflect what he wanted to express so that includes Slow Dancing that uses the gender term "girl". Also in the Blue MV, the person whose apartment he kept going to who in the end gives Yeontan (aka Rocky) back to him is a woman. When Tae or any of the BTS guys are seen even near a woman (let alone have a het dating rumor), she and they get tons of hate so it's beyond obvious that some just don't want any of the guys with women. For them they will only support the guys being gay and preferably with a fellow member aka their ship. Seems that while some claim to want to do away with the toxic masculinity/homophobic mindset and see BTS as challenging that and gender norms, in practice they not only embrace it but want to inflict it on Tae and other BTS members for their own personal agendas. Pick a side, you can't have it both ways.

Iove the explanation about the inscription on the album, people indeed need to calm down and look at contexts instead what they have likely fantasize about (shipping), and to understand cultural differences. Also, Jimin definitely just really love supporting his members and preferring the focus on them in their moments instead of on him, it is a really lovely and admirable quality of his. I love how all the boys/men(weird saying men instead of boys...lol) just enjoy supporting one another and genuinely celebrate one another's success, it is why it is extra annoying when some solo fans try assuming otherwise

Hi Dave, it doesn't matter if he's gay or queer, we should accept him as he is, I think if he wants to come out, it's his decision when to do it. We should rather support his music. Jimin and Taehyung have been friends since school and will always be friends, even when the two are old, it will stay that way. I wish people would move from Taehyung's sexuality...not our business! If any member has a female lead in their MVs, the hate/negativity the female lead would get is unbelievable and completely unacceptable. JK had a female lead in his MV and her SM was attacked with messages of hate/negativity. Tae saw that and probably thought, ok no female lead in the MV...you notice the female that lets Tan go in Blue MV was so far away and blurry, you couldn't figure out who she was.

Hi Dave, I absolutely love all your content . I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, kiss , and hard rock, Marilyn Manson and people always trying to decipher who and what they were as a person and trying to explain this to my family and I would say it is art and that is their personality on stage that is not who they are behind the scenes and then they would try to figure out what the music meant. And nowadays the artists get to explain why and what they’re song is about instead of everyone trying to make up what they want it to be about. And with BTS I wish everyone would not worry what their sexuality is, just worry that they are healthy, happy and safe especially at this time that they all have to serve in the military. There is so many other things to worry about in our own lives , why do people feel the need to burden the members. I wanted to add when BTS came on the scene I was babysitting and the kids I was watching got me interested and then my daughter has gotten interested in ateez and all the k drama shows. I even went to a ateez concert in Scottsdale, BTS when they came sold out to quick. But I love 💗 them . Listen to them while I ride my horse.

This constant focus on these guys sexuality is so weird. These guys lived, traveled, worked, and spent more time together than many of us spent with our own relations. They were family to each other. My question is if your sister or brothers were photographed, joking, teasing, hugging, comforting, or attending events with you, does that make you gay? Why do you make these judgments? It is not a fans business. You are not their lover, parent, or anything else. We as fans should be focused on the gift of their art.

I have watched all Of V MV’s and not once thought he was singing about a man or coming out my interpretation was maybe ending to a relationship this could be romantic or work related as in BTS taking time away from each other and the loneliness that this may have on them from constantly being with people to being alone and learning to adapt , as for sexuality there would be no way sadly at this current or future moment for any members to come out because of the lack of acceptance to LBQT in Korea especially when it comes to the military which eventually all members of BTS will have to do maybe after that has happened who knows but a person’s sexuality is there business , I did notice that Koreans even men are very tactile and enjoy skinship a lot with people they are close to I’m a very tactile person with people I’m close to that’s just how some people and cultures are so it may seem unfamiliar to other cultures 😊❤

Dear Dave: JK's Smoke Challenge he recorded in his hotel room in NY. 😊 Dave puts a lot of work into his analyses, and it's very enlightening for many who don't know Asian culture and its expressions. Yes and it's also sometimes about the LGBTQ community, there's a lot of speculation - it's all more normal for Europeans and Americans than it is in Asia and I think it's great that he talks about it so openly with us and explains it. If the topic annoys you so much, then don't listen, no one is forcing you 😉 You have to know - being part of the community and having to be in the military in SK is very difficult. It is "officially" tolerated, but it is still persecuted and punished with up to 2 years in prison. Soldiers who belong to the community deny their relations and delete their drives so as not to leave any trace that could indicate this. Horrible for me 😢

Just recently, the government passed a law that permits same sex couples in the military to take their leaves together and will not punish them for what they do when they are on leave in their own homes or towns.

I don’t care whether they’re gay or not. I don’t worry about that at all. I’m glad you explained what that comment meant even though I never saw it. I never look that close at anything that they post. And I think it’s important for people to understand that their culture is way different than especially the American culture. Which is why sometimes I think like even in Jungkook song and video he didn’t get the whole innuendos behind Latto’s part. They just don’t see things that way. I never saw all the LGBTQ things in V’s video. I always thought it just looked like he was hanging out with his friends and doing fun stuff. Maybe that’s because I’m not in that community I don’t know, but everybody always jumps to that conclusion and I just think that’s wrong. Until he tells us, or they tell us or one of them tells us that they are I say let them be who they are.

I was wondering how some people saw hints of LGBT on Taehyung's music videos because in my opinion, I saw none of it. Only Yeontan that also plays major part of it. And the way I interpreted the testicles term that Taehyung wrote is the same as you, Dave. Two people who have been together since a young age and have seen each other vulnerable side. Basically like a soulmate. And what happens with Jungkook TikTok is sort of funny. I also didn't know what's really going on that time 😂 but since he's in charge of his TikTok, he seems to be cautious of everything. By the way, his TikTok edits slayyyy 😎

So, back in college I would have to say most of my guy friends had seen eachother naked. They even did a polar bear club - that ment running naked into the river in the middle of winter. I never thought of them seeing eachother naked as anything other than normal. I could totally see them coming up with a term like testicle friends to be funny and create a bond between them. Just seems normal to me, but maybe it's a generation thing, I don't know, lol 💜

It doesn’t matter what lifestyle the members choose. I just hope they are happy . If you saw the series “Daisy Jones & the Six”.
