@mr_flibbles_45284 жыл бұрын
@@frfras7 eh kinda. He was the "good guy" but was sorta corrupted/manipulative
@nolanrussell63264 жыл бұрын
@@frfras7 there really isn't a good guy in this film. The cop lied and manipulated Leonard into murdering people (bad people but nonetheless it's murder) and was also planning to take the drug dealers money after Leonard killed him. That being said, you could argue that he was doing all of this because he felt sorry for Leonard and wanted to give him a purpose, but he just got carried away. Leonard manipulates himself presumably so that A. He has something to live for/a purpose - finding John G even though he already killed him and B. To allow him to live without the guilt of knowing he's responsible for his wife's death. These are understandable motives but ultimately cause him to frame Teddy as his next suspect for John G and murder him. I can sympathize with Leonard's motivation but he also goes way too far and essentially murders people to ease his conscience. The last main character, Natalie, also manipulates Leonard convincing him to "get rid of" someone who is coming after her for her own benefit by lying to him. Also, she is obviously a shady person to begin with given her involvement with drug dealers. That being said she does actually help Leonard and is arguably the least guilty of the 3 within the movie because she at least isn't responsible for the death of anyone. Ultimately, you can't really consider any of them good guys but they aren't exactly bad guys either, all three are just people making bad decisions due to understandable reasons.

I don't see the point. It's one of the most-discussed films ever made and everybody who has seen it loves it. The only way it would be worthwhile for Chris to review Pulp Fiction would be if he, for some reason, didn't like it. Except the issue is that with his current format, he doesn't seem to give himself enough time to go into reasonable depth about the films he has seen, which means that any review he does of Pulp Fiction risks being shallow and somewhat general.

It made me think of one of my favorite revenge movies, and Guy Pierce movies, The Count of Monte Cristo. Thoughts on that movie Chris?

Saw it for the first time last year. It blew me away! Fantastic film making, especially when you consider how early in Nolan's career this was. It's actually one of the few movies that benefits from being confusing, and thank goodness no one talks about the ending. I have so many movies spoiled to me because of pop culture, like The Sixth Sense. It was refreshing not knowing anything that was going to happen in the movie. I appreciate you not going into spoiler territory, because you really have to go into it completely blind. Luckily, despite how influential this movie has become, they allow you to go into it without knowing what is going to happen!

Brilliant movie, thanks for bringing it up Chris! Another great review. Your comment on how Guy Pearce's performance is one of the most underrated ones of the 2000's makes me think of what I believe might be the most underrated performance of the nineties; Val Kilmer in Tombstone. Have you seen it? 😊

Would love to see you do an Explained video for Memento like you did with Enemy, which was great. Curious to know your take on the ending of the film (beginning???), the various twists, and your thoughts on the realization that if you tell this story chronologically, you lose all the suspense. Anyway, great video as always!

Nick Hurst I know. but like I said, I want to see what he thinks of it now. it's been 7 years and as he stated in the review 7 years ago, there wasn't a lot of good movies. a lot of things contributed to the good review. sorry if it wasn't clear
@pele20897 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Wilson that wouldn't be such a good idea though. I mean, it's possible but still...

hi Chris, I've been a long time viewer and have enjoyed your reviews for along time. this is the first time I am leaving a comment so just want to say thank you for years of continuous great content. anyway I have been tempted so many times to ask you to review this movie and ask you why haven't you reviewed this movie yet since I know you are a big Christopher Nolan fan, as am I. I absolutely LOVE this movie, this truly is what good film making is all about. I am glad you have been slowly reviewing older films along side your constant new movie release reviews. will you also be reviewing The Prestige soon? its also a masterpiece in my mind and one of my favorites. I really love movies that are complicated to follow but rewards the viewer for paying attention and thinking. I hope to see you cover more older films from time to time. continue the great work man. also just wanna say, I also was a toonami watcher back in the day and love Anime so I can really relate to you. honestly ill be surprised if you reply to this comment but since you have reviewed Momento for us, I felt obligated to say something. I hope another movie you will review in the future is one called Mulholland Drive by David Lynch.
