I wanna start by saying I LOVE your comment. And I just wanted to add that I am someone who would love to be a parent one day if I can (financially). I am AFAB and NB so I tech do not fit the "woman" category, lol--but if I had to say anything about a legacy. IMO I would hope my possible kids show a legacy of kindness based on what they learned in life, and I would hope they lead mostly happy lives, and lives far better and less traumatizing than mine. I would hope my legacy through them would be the kindness and resources to have a good life. I know for many the idea of a legacy is based on bloodline and having it continue, but for me, I see it as a way of passing on your thoughts and wisdom to help younger generations and kids in your care--regardless of if they are biologically yours or not--to have and lead lives that make them happy. That your legacy is the kindness you give to others. I've heard similar sentiments from some women who wanna be parents or are parents, so thought I would share the additional information and possibly give some positive light to the dark realities of being a woman, of being female, and of being a mother or not wanting to be a mother. Just some happy thoughts so things don't feel hopeless. And lastly I just wanna say--I don't think you need to be a parent to have a legacy, and I support child-free people 100%. It's your life.

Lmao this is what happened with both sides on my family. My brother got snipped, and I'm 34 childless and will not have children. My cousins who grew up wanting kids, one decided they don't want them anymore and the other is only considering because his wife wants one. The bloodline dies with us. Kind of sad, but I know I am not a good paternal figure, and I'm not screwing up a human being forcing myself to have one.

I’m you in 9 years. I paid $700 for heating oil and $500 for car insurance yesterday before picking up my dog at the vet because the little idiot scratched his tonsil chewing a stick to the tune of $550. If I had kids, that large unexpected bill would have hurt on the heels of the large expected ones. And there would be more of both bills! Financial stability is so much easier without so many burdens on your finances.

I've talked with many women and while most of the mothers regretted giving up their dreams to have children,not one child free woman regretted her decision.

Relationships are actually better without kids in the way. I never had kids and me and my boyfriend have a great relationship going on 10 years now. My aunt never had kids either and now her and her husband are living off an inheritance from my grandmother and they have a farm with horses in it. You can't have all that with kids in the way because a lot of times your life gets put on hold and you can never really buy anything for yourself other than food and hygeine products. Having low fertility is a blessing from God. I'm not sure why some of them push for kids because the uterous does not work on your husband's command. If it doesn't like you it will reject you.

And there's literally nothing wrong with that, that's great, people are acting like you have to have kids but it's more of a take it or leave it thing and I don't think either is wrong if it's what makes you happy, people need to mind their own business lol

I've also never had a desire to be a mom nor to get married to be completely honest and that came from seeing how literally every single woman around me was being muled & mistreated in their marriages. And its crazy how many ppl have tried to convince me otherwise, like, why are you trying to force me to make major life decisions that I have to live with and you don't?

As a kid I watched my mom struggle as a single parent just to make ends meet. My dad would pick us up from school, on his days off, then plop himself onto the couch, and relax with his feet up, watching football on our tv. (Which wasted electricity) Then my mom would come home, exhausted from an 8 hour shift, and see 1/4 of the food in the fridge gone and a mess of wrappers and junk food in the living room. Why? Because my dad ate all the food. "What? I wanted a snack." was his response. He took barely any part in raising us and only did what he wanted. Once in a while, he would take us to the movies or out to macdonalds, but that was only when he felt like it/when he was free. All his neighbors and friends would say "Awwww, what a great dad!" But in reality he didn't even help with homework or buy us clothes at Walmart. "Well, can't your mom do that?" would be his response. Fast forward 20 years, and I'm grown up. Now one of my siblings doesn't talk to him, at all, and I barely talk to him.

Each 5-10 years older you are having a kid takes that many years away from the child and their grandparents/parents. I really think about it now since my mother is mid-70’s and if she’d had me at 25 she would be 11 years younger. That’s a lot of time with family that’s stolen. Then you are young with more dead family members which is sad. Just something to think about when having kids when older. I’ve got health problems with no kids and no intention to have any, personality. I can’t take care of them.

I'm a 72 years young BW. My grandmother became aware that birth control(BC) was available when she was a housekeeper for WW. After she had my uncle, at 36 years young, she shared the BC information with her physician. He told her she was mistaken. So, my grandmother saved her coins and purchased twin beds. When my grandparents retired for the evening, my grandmother pointed out which bed my grandfather was sleeping in.😊😊 My uncle was her last child. My mother is the remaining living child of six children.

My paternal grandmother RIP openly admitted that if birth control was accessible to her, she probably wouldn’t have had any kids.

To be honest, I don't know how some do it at 40, there is no way I wanted to be chasing toddlers while I'm over 40 years old. Told my grown kids, if they have kids after I am 50 - don't expect overnight babysitting. I'm 45 now and can only handle the young nieces/nephews for a few hours at a time and then I have to give them back before my patience and energy run out.

My father buried both his parents at 12 and he is from the Caribbean, they start having children in their teens. Life isnt guaranteed to anybody, a child can bury their parent at any age.
