This is the kind of thing, of which, if it were better-known, and if the actual speeds played here were notated as metronome marks on the music, the fans of the Authentic Sound channel, if they had seen the music but not heard the recording, would all, to a man, declare: ‘Those metronome mark are totally impossible. Why did Mendelssohn write impossible metronome marks? This PROVES the double-beat theory!’
@dacovaz
@dacovaz 2 жыл бұрын
Double beat is also false because way too slow! For Czerny, Beethoven, Moscheles, Ries, Clementi etc etc etc. Please, don't focus with your left-brain and in an anal way on the bloody metronome mark. Play music according to your heart (and musical understanding/mind).

Are the opening pages of this another example of the trick Liszt used to do (e.g. in the 'Norma' reminiscences) i.e. pick out the slow melody using the thumbs while the other fingers play the fast arpeggios?
@rogerknox9147
@rogerknox9147 4 ай бұрын
That was actually Thalberg's "trick," I don't know who was first. Among the magnificent technical innovations of Lizst in the truly astonishing number of compositions and transcriptions he wrote, the RH/LH thumb melody is a tiny detail.

The key of Db/Bb minor is actually quite well liked by many pianist. The combination of white keys and blacks keys comfortably fits the natural shape of the hands. It may seem obvious that C major / A minor should be easy because it's just white keys right? In reality that's not really the case for more technical music. Chopin considered C major to be the hardest key because of it's awkwardness for the fingers and hands. It may be the easiest key to learn, but it's considered by many to be the hardest to master.
@brianeheads
@brianeheads 3 жыл бұрын
@@randomchannel-px6ho I agree! But for some reason I find B-flat and B-flat minor to be difficult. I like how other "flat" keys fit so naturally in the hands.
