It is a bit funny to me that this set doesn't contain Da Vinci Yellow or Da Vinci Red 😂 I'm so glad to hear that you liked them. I think of them as the perfect love child between Daniel Smith and M. Graham. I can confirm that DV are vegan, as aside from the pigments that would make them not so, like ivory black, which I thinkkk they are working on phasing out. I loved the depth you got in this painting! And thanks for the little shout-out! 😁

Ooh, I’ve definitely got no experience with either of those colors, but I’m curious as to whether the yellow would have been a bigger contrast to its opposite temperature yellow. That’s the ONE thing I’d reeeeeeally change about this set. And I know I don’t say it enough, but I love you! Of course I’m gonna shout you out when taking a look at one of your brands, especially when you’ve now made MULTIPLE sets with them!!!! I’m glad I finally dig these out of my shame pile. They’ve been buried for almost 2 years at this point. =x.x=

@@MeowMeowKapow aw I love you too, sweets! Re: the colors, I just thought the colors were funny because of the namesake aspect, though both are in their pan palette set so maybe that's why they're not also here. It's just PR254 (pyrrol red) and PY154 (benza. yellow). PY154 is almost indistinguishable from PY97, so they could have done either of those plus the Hamsa Yellow Deep, and you be good to go with the split yellows 😁 Let me know if you want some! I can send some your way... I think haha. Pretty sure I have a tube lying around.

Thank you for this wonderful insightful video. Yes, the clear lids are not understood by most watercolorists and I fully appreciate your take on this. The end of video doodle was wonderful too. I appreciate the comparison with Sennelier at the end too.

Da Vinci makes lovely paints, I've been really happy with their quality and prices. I think they may be the most affordable of the USA made professional quality brands? I too bought some of their paints, played a bit before putting them in a drawer for future review... and well... it happens to all us art supply hoarders I think lol. They get me in trouble with having some of my favorite colors in huge 37ml tubes... the mega hoard. Thank you for the reminder to fix that :)

6 color mixing sets are really cool, they take so little space and make you learn your color mixing, I’ve been using 6pc Daniel Smith for most of my artwork for months now Great video as usual, thank you ☺️

Dude, I’ve seen so much hate on the clear lid from the Sennelier aqua mini and I’m like NO! Y’ALL DONT UNDERSTAND!!! ITS SO USEFUL!!!

Very interesting. Yeah those yellows aren’t different enough to make me personally happy but this is one the few brands i DONT own so this is very interesting. Also a super weird ad ran before this video. I was like wah!!!

Meow Meow Kapow you know I think sennelier and Daniel Smith have the best yellows. It was for some weird Christian cult. 😳😱 there is a setting where you can turn off some kinds of ads but you don’t get paid as much and you can’t turn off specific ads only some kinds. Like I turned off weight loss ads.

I love my DaVinc watercolours I bought some from eday last month and one colour was off so I contacted the company not thinking anything of it and I got a really nice reply and a new tube of watercolour. Such a good company.

You can! If you don’t already know how to, watch the doodlefinder video I linked in the icard. I’ve done probably a hundred or so of these so I’m used to the idea, now, but they’re really just about having fun and not worrying too much about the results.

Also, I watched your bookbinding class on Skillshare and ordered the set you linked! We are very close to the Jaffe Center for Book Arts (look it up, it’s AMAZING!) and I’ve done some studies there. Memory issues mean that I’d have a really hard time recreated what I “learned” there (can it be considered learning if your brain spits it out instead of swallowing? Maybe it’s more accurate to say “consumed”.). One of the great things about your class is that I can watch repeatedly, and follow along step-by-step. 💕

Da Vinci are my favorite non-honey paints. Like them better than Schmincke.

Aw man, tubes from this brand have been in a cart for almost a year!! Haha. I am too in love with Schmincke to pull the trigger on DV. Every last penny is hoarded for the tubes of Schmincke. 😂😂 but I loved your review and doodle! I might have to get a tube of DV Burnt Sienna or something cause Schmincke has weak earth tones....

Ah, I’m lukewarm on Schmincke but they’ve been working on currying my favor slowly over the last year. Turns out I really just had to find good colors, because my first set was largely earth tones and they just didn’t suit me. =>..

DaVinci is a California company and I have wanted to check them out but I am sorta afraid of tubes and the only pan stuff they have is in expensive palates. These colors do look lovely.

Don’t be afraid of tubes! You’ve seen me make like a zillion palettes at this point and I totally prefer pouring my own paints! Some brands use a different formulation for their pre-poured or extruded pans and I’ve found that I don’t always like them as much. Plus, if you’ve got tube paints and there’s a mix you’re going to use often, you can pre-mix those colors together in a pan and make yourself a convenient supply of it!

@@MeowMeowKapow Yes, but you make it look easy. You just go squish and it come out in this pretty soft serve squirt. I know what is going to happen when I squish...no matter how careful I am there will be paint everywhere!

Kitarra Chaosweaver the good news is that you can still use the everywhere paint, or clean it up easily enough with a wet towel! Only way to get good is to try!
