Thanks for this Kat! People ask me about this line, so I'll direct them here :) Also, my grandmother's apple pie recipe and homemade pumpkin pies are my favs. If I have to go commercial, I stick to the delicious double chocolate silks :D

Very helpful. I was a little confused about what each Shinhan line means, and how they perform. I especially like the way you show so many consecutive layers.

Yeah, the layering test was recommended by a subscriber on my original swatch video and I’m SO GLAD because it totally helped me understand why I wasn’t getting what I wanted out of the student side. And yeah, it’s totally weird that they named the student brand the “professional” line, and I wonder if it isn’t willfully deceitful.... which I definitely don’t approve of.

Yeah, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t wasting a whole bunch of paper or just losing random loose sheets for these tests and figured sort of tetris-ing it all together would be best!

Nice job, I bought this to travel with. A 36 professional set will cost over 200 dollars so we can't expect student to work like the pros. I love this review. Nice job

Good thing I just ordered a trial set of the student grade. I was enticed to try Shinhan bec my fave artist (Joly Poa) is using these for her floral paintings! I thought the professional set is the real deal but I realized the PWC/SWC is the artist grade one.

My favorite pie is the one that I can make from scratch. Other pies store bought from the bakery or freezer section just don't measure up. I have seen sever reviews of this brand of watercolor paint; but, have a heard time keeping the difference between lines straight.

Oh definitely, home made pies are the best pies. OR ones from specialty bakeries that only make certain baked goods and therefore perfect those things.

I like chocolate pies, but I think my favourite is Dutch Pie! Unfortunately the good ones are expensive here, the reasonably priced pieces I've had were too sweet and the chocolate tasted greasy. I love my chocolate to be bitter so I don't get sick of it mid-slice! I Also love cheesecake :P Eh, I think I'd have loved ShinHan student line back when I started watercolors. As of professional paints, I'm well served nowadays, so the only thing related to this brand I'd love to try are their hybrid gouache!

Interesting! I'm going to have to get at least a few more PWC colors. I like the ones I have, especially the Indigo, but I think I'd have more fun with them if I had some cooler colors. Jackson's is the place for those, right? Also, I've never heard of chocolate lavender pie before, but that sounds AMAZING!

I'll definitely use your link to Jackson's too. ^^ Also, Candy wanted you to know this. I assume it's something private between you two, so I won't ask about what's going on, but as soon as I started typing this out, she jumped up on my desk and very deliberately walked across the keyboard, so, clearly, this was her intent. This was really great, Kat! I'm not familiar with this brand, so it's great to get your point of view, which is often so aligned with my own, I can take your word on it. And just for what it's worth, you should be creating adult coloring books. Your line work is so rich and wonderful, and there's such a satisfaction watching you draw. I actually went back to 4:08 several times just to watch it again (ha!! now the link is right here, so I can just click on it over and over! Ha!! Next, I'll rule the wor... nevermind). lol! Also, thank you for the new mantra in my life: "Some pies are good; but, some pies are just _more_ good." My kids are going to tell me to stop saying it after 300 times. lol! Great work on this one! Thank you!! :)

Oof, Im late XD. Thanks for the review, Kat! This paints do tempt me, but I am trying to control myself this time as I literally bought another pretty cool travel pallet a while ago XD. I am more content now with the paints I already have, but maybe someday when I have extra cash, I might pick up some tubes of these since they seem pretty neat! I dont think I've exactly tried pie aside from the Philippine's famous "Buko pie". Buko is kinda like a coconut in the Philippines (yes, this asian horribly hot and humid country is my habitat. Feel free to visit!) but that was a long time ago. I did try my sister's homemade apple pie, but lets just say, she may need to have another go at it. Hi Bubba! Here's a huge, virtual hug!!! (sorry for the rambles about my country and pie. Just thought it might be a little interesting? Probably not lol)

Yes, it was totally interesting! I’ve never heard of Buko pie, but I do LOVE coconut so I’m imagining it’s delicious. Maybe you and your sister could develop the perfect apple pie recipe and take over the world that way? Just a recommendation. I strongly feel that pie as a world domination tactic could be successful. Ooooh, what’s in your new travel palette?

Meow Meow Kapow Its actually from Schmincke! I never thought I could ever get anything from that brand, but I did! I was looking for those cool, new bijou boxes that had the flask in them and a built-in water cup. I couldn’t order one from amazon since it couldn’t deliver to my house. Luckily, my local art shop (that I love and am obsessed with) had the schmincke version of it. I was able to save up and get the pallete. Its pretty cool! Definitely recommend it.

Oh, neat!!! Those bijou boxes are so cute, I have a real soft spot for them. And schminke’s actually really nice-although I didn’t like them at first when I used them. Turns out I just had colors I wasn’t a fan of!

Meow Meow Kapow Schmincke is pretty expensive, but I’d say its worth it. My grandmother is actually an artist who has schmincke paints, so I guess that makes me have a soft spot for them? I did go a little against them for how expensive they are, but then I found out that they’re pretty cool!

Thanks for this Kat!! I’ve already got a basket going at Jackson’s so 3 more won’t break the bank...😂. The other items are also ShinHan - their Pass combo Watercolor/Gouache. Have you tried these? If so, I’d love to hear your take on them. I think a lot of the colors may be Fugitive, but I work in journals so that is not a deal-breaker. Again, thanks!!

I definitely plan to only snag the pwc line! I wonder why they named their types like that? It’s like saying Bubba is merely only a cat, not a benevolent alien overlord. Talk about confusing. Also- will he still accept me if I admit I do not like pie?

YOU DONT LIKE PIE?!?? Sigh. Bubba’s staring at me and purring even though I’m not petting him so I guess he’s still on board. Also, the answer for the naming scheme is deceptive marketing. A common tactic with pretty much all companies, since if all the words sound good then nothing they have is bad, right? I mean, look at the marketing on food labels and tell me half of it isn’t just false boastful nonsense.

Bubba is looking particularly adorable today, playing all coy behind the curtain! Love the side by side comparison! You did an awesome job! Mmmmm pie! I tend to prefer fruit pies. But I have to say that my favorite is Key Lime. The smooth creamy texture and the tart lime is such and unbeatable combination. I also love pumpkin pie and I will never turn down a slice if pecan pie unless someone decides to go and ruin it by adding weird stuff.

I’m considering buying the same assortment of pwc colors, with the exception of lemon yellow, which I’m switching out with permanent yellow light. How long would these three tubes last on a estimate? I want to mix many colors with them, and I don’t think I would use them everyday.

Their permanent yellow light is fugitive, so I’d be careful with that.

I don’t know about the SWC (I’ve seen it, but have no experience at all) so cant give any advice on them. Shinhan sure doesn’t make it easy to decode their paints, do they? =>.

I’m not sure about rhubarb yet. All I’ve had is strawberry rhubarb, and it seems like rather than being a harmonious combo of both it always seems like a watered-down mishmash of both. Might have to experiment with just straight up rhubarb on my own at some point.

I have tried mission gold but haven’t used them for maybe 2 years and haven’t done a review of them on this channel so I fear any memories of them would be inaccurate.

Jessica mission gold is more luminous, in my opinion, and has more lightfast colors in the sets. Most of the reds and some of the yellows in the pwc sets are very very fugitive. That aside, they’re really nice paints. I have the 32 set of pwc and the 36 palette set of mission gold.
