It would be a perfect weekend car. Sports car like acceleration, great sound, can go anywhere and a truly head turner.

In 2004, when Mercedes was talking about discontinuing the G-Wagon, I purchased a 2005 Grand Edition, which was supposed to be the last set up G-Wagons built. I'm so glad they continued this vehicle, it's truly an amazing SUV.

Great review Tim. I can see the attraction of the new G Class, but it comes at such a huge price very few can afford. I will look forward to see what diesel engine Mercedes will use later on for the fresh design of this 2.5 ton beast. Maybe it will improve the mpg considerably?

Definitely among my dream cars. I only wish they’d improve the rear seat for comfort, like what ranger rover has done. Pure luxury

Well, at first, I really thought so too, I even wished for a 4 seater luxury configuration for those who'd prefer to be chauffeured in this classic beast... But when I asked a Mercedes sales rep, he told me point blank, saying NO!, such rear seating comfort and luxury configuration is why the GLS was created, not the G Wagon.

Wait what? 270k? I seen a comment below 270k Australian.... I got deposit on one, I'm looking at 190k Canadian for the G63. Canadian and Australian dollar is nearly par! Is it really that much more to import in Australia? Why is it so much more? Or is it cause what they have on the video is an Edition One G63?

Q8 is gonna be a SUV "Coupe" - like BMW X6 or MB GLE Coupe. This thing is like a military truck on steroids. Q8 is gonna be cheaper for sure, and probably handles better on the road. But G class will definitely grab more attention.

Ahmed Leta 700 C-Class are sold a month in Australia, 140 g wagens in Australia a year. Merc only sells 22,000 g wagens a year in total around the world. Cheers.

Most people who drive the G Wagon are Chinese exchange students, its pretty usual at this point in SoCal. Not saying its a bad thing, just interesting.

Bad. . G-class should be the car that should stay retro. Why is it more curved than usaul? It lost its shape😕 comm on Merc, You can do better. It had a v12 with a 6.3l engine stop saying the engine is better.

The worst part by far - silver dashboard. That's all you see in your driver's mirror, and blinding from the sun. Such a dumb interior decision.
