Great review! I have never worn the SG but I have over 400k in the AP5 and love it. Last race was a wet and muddy 65k and they coped really well.

Im very happy with the peak 5, ive survived the Hurtwood 50k and Northdowns ridge 50k in a pair 😊

Awesome video 😊. I love my Peak 5 super comfortable but sidewall foam starts ripping 2 weeks old only

taken the speedgoats over 20 miles a number of times and while I really like the shoe, my one critique is that when your foot swells , it gets a bit to snug in the toe box and I get problems with my toes. The additonal room in the Merrells sounds promising. I use these type of shoes over the winter in the west pennines.

I had the same problem until I tried the wide version. Had to adjust the lacing a bit, but other than that, it works perfectly for everything marathon distance and longer.

Thanks Kieran. I’ve had the Soeedgoat in regular and wide options - one just slightly too narrow, the other slightly too roomy (both both still great). Sounds like the Merrell might be the option to look at for set it and forget it. Always appreciate your side-by-side comparison!

Glad you enjoyed it Chad. Merrell is not a huge amount wider the the regular Goat. But there is a little more space going into that toe box. Not run in a wide Goat so can't say on that one.

@@TheRunTesters I’d also seen that the Merrell is much like the Speedgoat 3 - are you able to comment on that? If I recall correctly, the 3 was a favourite version for many.

Absolutely adore the SG4 and 5. Merrell looks interesting.

Hi, I was wondering why you use the same size when different brands have different sizes in centimeters. For example Hoka UK size 8,5 is 264 mm and Merrell has 8,5 with 270 mm. That's a difference of half a centimetre

I tried the Agility Peak 5, and didn't like it. Overall, its nice. But it has a rocker. So, for hiking I wouldn't like it. Trail running would still be weird. I find its more designed for road use, but with trail lugs. Not my thing

Pretty good, only slipped once or twice in heavy rain and thick mud, maybe not as quiet plush as the Xodus ultra 1 which they replaced, but the grip is an improvement.

Hey Kieran- I'm curious if you had the chance to Test the Agility Peak 4 at any point (i know Tom has) and if so how much of an upgrade you feel the 5 is over the 4? I have a pretty fresh version of 4 that I plan on using for some time here, but I'm wondering how much the changed Chevron pattern in v5 has improved or changed the grip.

I've schreded an eyelet after only 100 km. Very thin material around the eyelets. Otherwise, splendid shoe!

Mine started to show a similar issue - I like my laces cranked up tight. My local cobbler fitted lightweight metal eyelets throughout both shoes for £10. Problem solved!
