The Violent Sleep of Reason was inspired by a Goya painting called "The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters." For the cover, the band once again enlisted Keerych Luminokaya who created the artwork for Koloss and The Ophidian Trek as well as the new images for each of the 7 albums and 3 EP's featured in the 25 Years of Musical Deviance box set. The album was produced by the band and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby, Denmark.

I'm only 70% in as of typing this comment and so far the albums fire. I love how they incorporated much more melody in this album than previous albums. Don't get me wrong I love me traditional heavy as balls monotone groove style Meshuggah but actually hearing some melodys in their music is refreshing

yeah it is more melodic definitely and I agree. that must be because Lovgren had more to do with writing than he has before

This album makes me cry. I cried even more when Discovered that this album was recorded all instruments together as a live concert inside the studio.

@@7thparabola It's not entirely true. They recorded it like Metallica do. Whole band in a room to get the drums down then PLENTY of overdubs.

Imo this album is their best most consistent plus a couple of standout tracks but I must say I love all eras of the band 🤘
