That's a sad statement on the loss of vocabulary in our modern world. Most people probably didn't know them either. Nowadays, the only four-syllable word in most people's vocabulary is ''motherfucker''. I'm not meaning to belittle you, I only mean to point out how sedentary our intellects have become. Myself included in the plague, I find, far too often, when trying to make a point of argument, I struggle to find the word, sometimes held in common parlance, I wish to use. This is especially true if I watch too much television. We need to read more. And not from the social media.

V simplified: Behold! At a quick glance, I’m just an old retired entertainer in a mask who indirectly ended up as both a victim and a villain by an unwelcomed change of fate. This mask is not just a pleasant looking cover to hide that which lies beneath, it is the last remaining trace of the voice of the people, which has disappeared and now no longer exists. However, this courageous arrival of a past irritation stands reborn and inspired and has sworn to conquer and crush these bribe-taking, corrupted, poisonous vermin who are at the forefront of promoting evil and greed, by allowing the use violence to remove the free will of the people. [carves V onto propaganda poster] The only solution to this problem is retaliation. A personal revenge that I have vowed to carry through with, which can I add is not for my own fulfilment, because the meaningfulness and truthfulness of my actions will one day become clear to the watchful and honest people. [giggles] Admittedly, this concoction of complicated words has now become a bit excessive and long-winded, so let me simply finish by saying that I am honoured to meet you, and you may call me V.

Man do i love this scene, it so perfectly encapsulates V as a character. The dramatic flair clearly paints him as something of a showman, while the grammar and dictionary of vocabulary clearly shows that he is also an intellectual. At the same time his arrogance is portrayed in his talking down to Eve at the start of his speech, and the random laughter and sudden outburst of violence when he cuts the sign indicate that he is definitely a bit unhinged. He says himself that he's "both victim and villain" and that is entirely correct. A chivalrous gentleman, and a deranged sociopath, a hero seeking justice, and a vigilante driven mad, a concerned citizen, and a dangerous radical. V is all of these things, and this scene gives just a small taste of every complexity of his character.

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villian by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. (he carves a "V" into a sign) The only verdict is vengence; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.(giggles) Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

I have never heard of better comeback from V to the seemingly mundane comments Evey makes. Evey: I can see that. V: Of course you can. I am not questioning your powers of observation. I am merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is. and later on, on the roof Evey: I don't see any instruments. V: Your powers of observation continue to serve you well.

It cracks me up every time like how on one side the woman is terrified and asks who the man is, on the other there is V happy as a child in a candy shop because he had prepared for weeks that monolog and was just waiting for someone to ask him who he was. And the woman at the end is just confused and like: "What the hell happened in the last 50 seconds? "

Tbh V for Vendetta is one of my favorite movies because I just like the character V as a whole like what he stands for, how he speaks, the accent, the mask, the movements he makes when he speaks lol, how instead of just following the government he made a difference, and the list can go on..

Lyrics of Monologue - Thank me later "Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V."
