What the heck ever happened to ham radio, seriously it's like ham radio is nothing but a bunch of appliance operators nowadays, why would anybody buy a piece of junk like this when you can build something several orders of magnitude better in about 20 minutes. I guess that's the difference between real ham radio operators who took their test before they dumbed them down. And for the life of me I can't figure out why ham radio standardized on sermos connectors, or what you now call Anderson power poles. Of all the connectors this is got to be the worst one, they have an extremely high failure rate. Apparently people don't realize that the 15 to 45 amp Anderson power poles were never actually manufactured by Anderson, they were originally manufactured by a German company called sermos. back in the early '80s I was the original importer to the United States of the German sermos connector or what you call Anderson power poles. These were primarily being used by electric RC enthusiasts for electric cars and electric gliders. That is until I string of high-profile failures in the connector destroyed aircraft causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. The failures were traced back to the Anderson power poles which had cracked due to vibration and shorted out and in one instance causing an aircraft to burst into flames almost catching a house on fire. After that I stopped importing the sermos connector, sermos sold the tooling for the Anderson power poles to China who began manufacturing all the Anderson power poles. Anyhow these are absolutely garbage connectors, you'd be better off using 3 mm bullet connectors or even XT30s or xt60s

So you were the original importer of the worst connector? Why?

Look for the tiny 'Includes Paid Promotion' label in the bottom left of videos, generally near the start of the video. As far as I know, that's all that youtubers are technically required to put in their video to disclose a vested financial interest or product they received for free etc.

I was wondering if the power poles shipped with the units are an assortment of amp ratings? That way you can match the amperage on the connectors. You wouldn't want to use a 15 amp power pole connector in a 25 amp fused connector. Also, can the fuses be moved to any location, or are those fixed and you have to run them where they are currently installed? So what I'm asking is, can I move the 25 amp fuse to where the 5 amp fuse is and be ok. Thanks for the videos.

NIce coverage Ape! I too have an MFJ power distribution strip under my desk for all of my radio equipment that is powered by my power supply. There is no easy way to get to the power supply to turn it on when I want to activate the radios. So, I installed one of these - www.smarthome.com/products/insteon-2634-222-on-off-outdoor-module-dual-band and use Google Assistant or Alexa to "Turn on radios". Keep up the good work Sir!

In a ham shack, how many 13.8v devices can you safely run from 1 (TekPower 30 amp switching) power supply? So far I have a simple set up, 1 HF rig, 1 vhf mobile, and 1 10/11 meter mobile.
@TheSmokinApe

Look at how much power it device consumes on RX / Rest and add them up until you get to 30. If you TX one of them you will need "space" for that power as well.

I remember seeing a video somewhere of the MFJ power distro units and 2 of the 3 had bad solder joints on the inside. That would be interesting to tear them open and take a look. Guess I'm going to have to stick with channels that buy products with their own money and give honest detailed reviews. Not saying you're not honest but you're just giving a 30,000 foot unboxing of a product and if you want to buy it look in the description for a link. A used car salesman approach... all the shiny and none of the bad. I actually thought you were better than this Ape. I apologize for the rant but don't worry it's my last.
