I feel compelled to leave this comment. Josh, I understand the stress you feel to constantly perform at a certain level and constantly shoot high score. You feel that those high score will in some way validate you in the community and keep you relevant. Just know, you are relevant without the high scores. You are not a professional archer. People did not come to love and respect you and your content because you are a great archer. The community has embraced you so quickly because the knowledge and experience you have brought. That is your value. Tim is right! The internet has changed. It is not as superficial as it once was. People have gotten tired of the egotistical, superficial, product pushing creators. People recognize real and that is what is wanted and, in my eyes, what is needed in the community. This is probably one of the reasons you and especially Tim has made such a huge names for yourselves. People want real. Stay real, let the superficial stuff go. You’ve already solidified yourself in the community and filled a spot that no one else in the community has. Keep doing what you are doing and forget about the scores.

Josh, I am listening to this pod and feel compelled to comment on your concern about your credibility as an archer. Your credibility is through the roof man! Anyone who can manage a business like yours AND find the time to do all the other stuff you do (e.g., KZfaq videos, digging trenches for your mom's place) AND shoot archery as well as you do with so little time for practice, is an amazing archer who is absolutely through the roof in credibility!!! I followed your scores each day at the Redding shoot. No you didn't win, Redding, but your score was VERY respectable. Anyone, who thinks your performance at this event negatively impacts your credibility, is either an idiot or doesn't have a clue as to what it takes to shoot archery at your level. For a frame of reference, I am retired, I am more like Tim than you in my archery ability and I rarely miss a video you and/or Tim put out. My guess is I am more like your average viewer so trust me when I say your credibility is outstanding and you don't have a thing to worry about no matter who your partner is! Tim, keep plugging away man! Your archery skills have improved so much since the beginning! Larry Wise agrees with us, you have no control of the shot, after the arrow leaves the bow.

Man this one exposed a side of MFJJ I haven't seen yet. For a guy that preaches so much " I don't care about the score, I just execute the best shot you can", he sure layed into Tim hard on this one. No one cares that you can or can't shoot a perfect TAC. No one is going to stop following because you lost 1 of 4 events at a TAC where score doesn't matter. I follow you 4 guys for the great information you put out and the comradery that comes with it. MFJJ is a badass dude on technical stuff on setting up bows and making arrows fly true, Tim bust his ass on creating quality content but still is a normal guy just living life. It's obvious all of these guys can shoot and could lay a smackdown on Joe blow occasional shooter at any given time because they stay sharp. Some days it just doesn't go perfect.

I respect MFJJ for what he has taught me in his videos. A good coach needs to know the technique and what it takes, that’s where you shine, your a good coach. You don’t need to be the best at the sport to know what it takes to be the best. You can only get good and stay good if you practice regularly. From what I see and hear from you on the tube is your life does not let you practice shooting as much as maybe you once did and that’s OK. I started watching long before you started posting scores. Your instructions have made me better at tuning my own bow, shooting techniques and arrow builds. I’ve spent a lot of time watching other channels as I learned and I always come back to yours when I want a refresher. I appreciate what you are doing for the sport. The pressure you’re feeling is self induced. Let it go and have fun loosing once in a while. Your human. Oh ya, weren’t you on the winning team more than not. Just my thoughts.

This was tense, but very good... this was real! And I believe this will make you both a stronger pair of friends! I've been on both sides of this with people I love and respect, both friends and family and professional peers. Josh has his rep as "the archery boffin" and is still trying to grow his influence so as to affect more lives... And he is super competitive, as well, even if it's just scoring for fun. But I reckon underneath that is the fact he carries a lot of pride and hope for Tim in so far as the actual getting better at archery. Tim is essentially a student and product of Josh's archery philosophy and mfjj has many times called Tim and others "his children". Tim obviously did not shoot bad on purpose, but he was definitely more concerned with making good content on his own growing channel that day. Which he admitted, even if he was present for every shot. But I think he also has so much belief in josh being so much the better bowman that he believed he COULD let most of his mind be on making the video because Josh would (in his mind) take up any slack. Which is why he didn't SEEM to care as much as Josh obviously wanted him to... And that is damn frustrating when you're in a team and want to win, especially with a close friend/family member! So in closing this is just two close people who care about each other, but have different personalities and who were focused on slightly differnet goals clashing. Classic "father-son" conflict! Hope you guys hugged it out after! Lol Also the beers definitely made you all slightly too honest probably 😂 All 4 of you guys made great content and we love you all God bless!

MFJJ is being wayyyyyy over sensitive and you can tell by the way he addresses Tim hes not a good team player. Tim did a great job and did the best he could. TAC is all about fun just like you've stated before in many videos so relax MFJJ. You preach one thing and act another way. next time each person should score on their own no teams.

This pod is one that was NEEDED. There are several points to hit on. 1. Josh and Tim, y’all needed this to grow as friends. The oh shit factor just hit both of y’all. I’ve been through it many times in my life. Y’all love each other as friends and respect the hell out of each other each other and everything aligned, up until 2nd half day 2. That was proven with Josh’s apology. Josh took the time to choose appropriate words that would be taken the correct way for Tim. Now y’all know how to communicate in more situations. Learn and grow from it. 2. Jaysen from bow discipline…😂😂 For real though James…this was a new side of you on social media and your presences was needed. You come off as a “wild” dude, but you are in tune to everything around you and can absorb everything and give solid input to the situation. The “wild” guy is straight entertainment!! Appreciate you bro! 3. Brandon, it was a pleasure to talk to you in the past dealing with Mere Mortal, and I hated to see it not work. Your ability to digest everything from everyone else and provide specific input truly shows your character. I would love to have a glass of bourbon, smoke a cigar and just talk life with you. 5. Tim, I know where you come from with golf and how archery relates. I wouldn’t say you aren’t competitive by any means either, it seems more like you don’t want to deal with the confrontation like you once did. Keep grinding!! 6. Josh, if someone gives a damn about how you shoot when you are doing everything else for the archery community from running a business that is mentioned in the same breath as Lancaster, developing and making products that the industry has needed for years, all while having one of the most prominent KZfaq channels in archery…they can keyboard warrior what they want. You’re MFJJ for a reason! It would truly be one hell of a time to hang out with y’all. I enjoy watching and listening to what all of you offer! I am constantly adding to the toolbox. Appreciate the hell out of y’all!!

So what I’ve learned about each people is that James loves to shoot and he’s a great shooter. Brandon is a great shooter and loves to shoot. Mfjj is passionate about archery but can be so passionate that it can come off as aggressive and thus making others feel pressured when it comes to shooting (partner). And tim loves archery but isn’t the most proficient and he’s happy with the outcome he gets but on a competitive level it can become an area of tension if shooting with someone who is extremely competitive.

@drd7525

That's a really dumb takeaway message. What specific circumstance is that? It sounds like he shot pretty damn well despite lack of practice, lack of time to dial in equipment, and a host of other variables...shot angle, side hills, lighting conditions, tunnels, hidden targets, obstructions, target sizes, wind gusts, etc. He has also consistently shot well for years (according to content from multiple content providers), even if not at his peak level. The man bemoans the interference with the one variable that he can control, his process, and your surface level analysis is that he needs specific conditions? We're better off without your input. FWIW, the specific condition it would take for me to beat MFJJ is if he builds my setup, I build his, and he shoots blindfolded, or maybe someone pays me to shoot archery full time for a few years. Based on your comment, I'd wager the same could be said for you.

One word - Vulnerability. It’s just a game unless your chasing that paycheque, than it’s work. It’s good that you care MFjj, you should care that people are watching. You’re a teacher and a mentor to a lot of people, and more so to the people that don’t get to stand next to ya. We watch you for your knowledge, your truth to the sport, tips and tricks for in the shop and shooting form. Just because you’re not a professional on-the-line archer should not persuade someone’s judgment on you. You’re a damn good archer. It would be almost impossible to run a shop of you accord and to be training and traveling to shoot a top score. Than you’d be a professional archer and a guy with a bow shop. Dudley ran his path as professional archer and of course will hold that statue even when he’s gone, but from my perspective, he shot first and than realized he’s a good teacher/ shop educator but he’s not doing both. He does shoot a damn lot but he’s not running a daily/ on-site business. So, I think you should care, you should care to ones that are listening to you for the right reasons and you should care about how you shoot but remain on the professionalism that you present and keep building that trail. To be a teacher, a shooter, a technician, a coach, a truthful funny humble guy that I wish I had the chance to meet and hand my bow to. I enjoy all y’all videos every week and I believe I have grown from just watching and listening to what you teach. Get that pump house 🏹❤

Josh is known for being a archery genius not a pro shooter at all. I don't watch Josh thinking oh he's a super good shot. I watch because he's super passionate about archery and loves to tinker and explain things. A ton of laughs throughout all the videos but was disappointed and lost some respect for MFJJ when he started to dump on Tim just because Tim doesn't quite possess the high skill level of the others. Be curious to see what MFJJ would have to say if he partnered with Tim on a similar GOLF competition and Tim had to carry him through parts of the rounds. Skill levels vary from person to person. A friend would shoulder the extra weight and offer support rather than try to belittle his friend. In my opinion Tim has always been the bigger person and obviously works hard at perfecting the things he does. I've watched Tim greatly improve his shooting since he started his journey and he's quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Stay true to yourself, Tim. There are a lot of us out here who can relate to your journey in archery. Respect to you. That being said, James can shoot his bow !!!

Brandon and MFJJ will just tell it like it is, they don't hold back and that's refreshing. I really thought the ranch fairy wouldn't show. The ranch fairy has influenced some of my friends to shoot a heavy arrow and they didn't understand the real consequences that it had on their bow tune and arrow impact in hunting situations. I don't blame the ranch fairy, you better take responsibility and understand that there is a cause and affect when you make changes like that and that is exactly what MFJJ is concerned about.

You can tell that Tim is a golfer because golf is the ultimate mind f. The way he approaches performance is straight out of sports psychology from that experience. Josh is putting way too much pressure on himself about scoring... people already know he shoots well, and these days he can't work on that aspect of the craft like he once did. It takes nothing away from the content. And for what it's worth, it could be the reason why the Ranch Fairy bailed because he knew he would struggle on a tac course

Respect your elders boy! Meet his need because he sure as hell goes over and beyond meeting yours! Wake up Tim!.

Josh, you know as well as me you dont shoot enough to be a top shot anymore, and we know that and dont expect you to be. Youre credibility is not tied to that. Shoot and have fun with your friends all this will do is have people not wanting to be your partner because they dont want to let you down. Relax my guy. Youre doing great

Kudos to Mfjj for apologies to Tim but it sounds like Mfjj is more competitive and it's his reputation on the line since he has been doing it so long. While Tim is more worried about the video but still tries his best. 2 different generation old school and today's. They don't mix well lol

I see him being upset at changing rules. MFJJ seems to be funny when coming to rules. Tim seemed to be the more sensitive one in the bunch. MFJJ was just irritated.

Great videos and hard work is always appreciated. Tim needs to learn a bit more about different types of mental thought processes, competitive behavior, and different types of stress management strategies people use. He is quick to state how he use to be competitive and now in his later 20s he’s just competitive with himself. Thats 100% okay but that doesn’t mean he can’t accept others will still hold that same level of competitiveness and strong alpha behavior he once had. This comment isn’t to put him down but merely stating everyone has something to learn. It’s okay to be complacent with your opinions but be more careful to be quick to clap back to others. Huge respect for Josh taking a step back and seeking to understand before being understood. He apologized without hesitation and that’s hard for most. Keep killing the amazing work both Tim and Josh! Hope to see this conversation grow your guy’s relationship and not put a damper from continuing one of the best channels / educational / fun archery videos on KZfaq!

Patrick Mahomes's QB coach can't outplay him. I'm sure his credibilty comes from his knowledge and experience and from Pat's performance. Nobody cares if he can dissect a defense from the line of scrimmage and throw into tight coverage while off-balance. Maybe that perspective will help. MFJJ, your credibilty comes from your knowledge, experience, character, etc. and from the effects your work has on guys like me.

The cringe factor on this is very high. Nobody cares if you lose at TAC. It’s for fun. Losing doesn’t diminish your credibility one bit. It’s like playing in a scramble and one of your partners has an off day. Who gives a shit… Did you enjoy the time out with your friends and have fun? Clearly not…😬

I absolutely don't corelate Josh's archery knowledge with how he performs in a friendly competition (Especially with this Lift that we are hearing more and more right and left inconsistencies with) he has nothing to prove and I hope he knows that

@@xcr-fg7nd that's fine but he's clearly using it as an excuse as to why he didn't make a good shot. He could have used one let down. I think Tim made a good call to limit the let downs, it slows everybody down including the groups behind who might want to get a second course in for the day. This isn't the big leagues, it's just TAC. It's like telling a little league baseball player it's ok to step out of the batters box for 2 minutes after every pitch. It's a bit excessive considering the stage, or lackthereof. We get it, he used to be an elite shooter but now he's a busy business owner. You can't be great at everything, it's ok to just say "I didn't make a good shot, Kudos to the other guys (who play by the same rules)."

Maybe a beef will increase the ratings. Rematch an indoor shoot with finger puncher and show him how it’s done lol. Have someone else score. Hope you guys are good now I don’t have anything else to watch.
