Not even close. What we are seeing today is an overreaction to a virus that kills on a level akin to the Flu or Cancer. The considerable damage that's been done to our economy was worse than any cure. Our Elites in the Government and society are using it to chip away more of our civil rights because they're authoritarians who want absolute control. Trust me when I say this, Something as bad as what was on this show? Things would be way, WAY worse than a mere recession we are in now. Horrible as that is to say.

When COVID became global and before anyone knew anything about effectively treating it the fatality rate was horrible and way more than Spanish Flu. And that was 3% fatal. If the US had 50% infection that would have been 4.5 million times a factor. We lost 0.4 million in WW2.

For the first 51 seconds, I was really surprised nothing exploded... It was just unnatural.. I mean.. we're talking about Michael Bay here. Luckily there was an explosion 52 seconds in... and 57 seconds in... and 1 minute 2 seconds in... and 1 minute 5 seconds in.... and 1 minute 9 seconds in

Really enjoyed this show. Wanted another season that never came. We are going through a mild but pesky pandemic now. A scenario like in this show is more believable for future and more severe pandemics. This show was ahead of its time. Hats off to Michael Bay for making it.

But the godawful acting, camerawork, plot armor of the main protagonists, ridiculously over the top villain, writing and the production quality. I don't know if we watched the same show 😂 The beginning was promising (1x02-03) but you could already see they didn't care about production quality that much. But I had to stop after 1x08 that episode killed the show in my eyes. Also 1x04 is a thing that exists 🤮

Paweł D. The actual plot show is lame. Mostly about soap opera backstabbing and LOST-ish mystery plot turns on board the ship. The trailer has all the action scenes and reference to broader events that we will see in the show. Most action will be them versus the 'monster of the week', usually a another helicopter, ship and pirates. The broader plot and global events will not be referenced again, eg. we will never see post-apocalyptic Russia or the United States. All scenes are on the ship or deserted islands. Will be axed after 1 season due to poor ratings.

This series was so good. What made it bad was the time in between seasons. Waiting 2 years in between seasons was too much and people forgot about it. The last season kinda of lost its way. But, overall it was a great series.

In case anyone didn't know, The Last Ship was a book about a ship's trying to survive the aftermath of nuclear war. They try to find a non-contaminated home and search for survivors. Basically the complete opposite of this.

America has been a world power for less than a hundred years, and under her watch mankind jumped 100 steps into the future with technology, medicine, and all of science. America is and has always been the leading country in providing humanitarian aid, and doing her best to keep world peace, which is a lot harder than the movies make it look. Yes, she makes a lot of mistakes, but overall she's done more good than any country in the history of the world. So, while you enjoy your relative comfort and safety which are undoubtedly owed in some way directly or indirectly to America, I suggest you stfu. You're so used to America looking out for the rest of the world, that you've forgotten what it was like before her reign. You're a spoiled fucking shit.

there are tons of possibilities why one would send a small unit to antarctica. experiments in cold weather, equipment tests of prototypes, intelligence (radio silence), support for a antarctic outpost or just being there, showing presence. or just o create a lame excuse why the are not aware of the things that happened aroud them.

em843 I was on a DDG as well as a DD. 4 months of food and supplies could easily be stored. Ships do stores on loads much more frequently out of convenience not sheer necessity. Though I have no idea how much fuel a standard outfitted ship could hold, I'm certain more could be brought on in containers if need be.

I just started this show and already finished two seasons in two nights. The first two episodes of season 2 are great. Lots of action and suspense throughout the show. Cheesy at times but good. Great characters. The Chief Engineer is my favorite character.

To all the folks bashing on America "saving the day" yet again: 1) It is a British scientist actually doing the saving. *If* you were actually paying attention. To all those from non-natively-English-speaking cultures who cannot distinguish the accents, you are now informed of the subtlety; it would serve you well to learn the difference, as it is rather significant. 2) Americans have a very strong and very technically advanced military (some equipment, such as sub reactors, require a college degree, or equivalent training, to operate. Thus, it would, at this point in history, be advisable to have them on one's side, especially as the US runs all sorts of ops in various environs. This might be why the above-mentioned British scientist was not on a British ship. 3) It's an American TV show. Deal with it. Dr. Who is awesome, but he tends to spend a lot of time and space hanging about "Merry 'Ol" England, and Cardiff especially, of late, despite the ability to go anywhere and anywhen. Is THAT realistic, either? If you cannot allow for the show's intended demographic as concessions, you are likely going to not like much of life, as human beings are ofttimes very self-absorbed, petty, "my way or the highway" creatures, no matter what culture they come from.

At some point some people has forgotten that movies/tv shows/series were used as propaganda to spread the idea that capitalism was the best option as opposed to comunism, dictatorship...by showing the "america's way of life"; now the tendency has changed due to: money incomings and because rest of the world watches them. You have some valid points but you are trying to fight that idea using the word America (containing Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and more) instead of USA. And you add to your arguments messing with productions from another country (not nice either) . I like US shows (a lot actually), and like you point out i prefer to have USA on my side, but you have to admit many shows have been based on the idea that USA saves the day, probably too many.

Gexmini I'm not "messing with" productions from another country and being "not nice". I'm pointing out a production reality. Learn reality, instead of simply casting aspersions, Gex, it will help you a lot in life. The point was that Dr. Who can go anywhere and anywhen, yet hangs about, and picks companions from modern England, pretty much all of the time nowadays. Why? Because the target demographic (the modern UK audience) wants to be able to see themselves as potentially being a companion, so the writers target that era and location. You don't exactly see The Dr. whisking citizens off from India, Russia, Japan, Brazil, or the planets Argolis, Peladon, Ribos, etc. No, they are, of late, always from the 21st Century UK, *because that's the primary audience that watches the show*. And, as for calling the US "America". . . It has been a habit of US citizens, for hundreds of years, to do so. The United States of America has had that name for centuries, and its citizens oft shorten it to "America" simply because it is easier to say. Most other countries, even on the American continents, don't actually have the word "America" in their name, so US citizens don't tend to see a conflict.

I've become reluctant to start watching these kind of series because they usually wind up being cancelled before they reach a conclusion leaving lots of unanswered questions. Networks should guarantee that they will finish a series like this once they start it.

I started watching this as a joke and I was hooked by the end of season 1 and season 2 they really stepped up their game and now I'm hooked

I was surprised the explosions came after 50 seconds of the trailer. Thought I'd see some explosions already at 15 seconds into the trailer.
