THIS MOTOR WAS BUTCHED!!! | Project Raptor Motor Part 4
Tearing down the bottom end of the Raptor only to realize I don't have the right case splitting tools or crank puller/installer. Parts are on the way!!!

thanks for sharing. Don't do like I did on my 660, I used the impact wrench on the front sprocket. Stripped either the nut or output shaft, now the nut just free spins on the shaft. It's been over a year I'm afraid if I cut the nut off the shaft will be stripped..haha.

Just like every other one... another great video, keep it up. If you’re rebuilding the entire thing try doing what Cameron neimela did with the tranny of his cr250, I think it’s called super finishing or something like that. Makes everything really smooth and flow nicely

Don’t need the crankshaft puller/installer. Freeze new crank & crank bearings. Drop case half in the oven, get it to 220 degrees. Install the bearings (should drop right in). Find a socket that just fits in the inner race of the crank bearing. Heat it up with torch, then hold it inside the inner race for a minute or so, frozen crank should drop right in. When putting the cases together, I also use the heated socket technique so the crank slips through the bearing with out resistance.

Audience, you have a really clean and nice grey raptor quad. Did you get a certificate of origin or title? My partner is trying to buy one from a private seller, and the seller sent him a picture of the certificate of origin. I assume the certificate of origin is just documents of the purchase ONLY. Correct me if i'm wrong....

How do you keep up with all your bolts? How are you organizing them?

DesasterD I usually separate them by sections of the quad/sides of the motor or part etc and put them in ziplocks or boxes and label the boxes. I also take pictures and i have my own videos to go back for referrence if I need. For the most part I am familiar with which bolts go where though.

This is why I hate buying things used. On my trx450r when i rebuilt it the guy said it had an aftermarket cam but it didnt and the cam holder bolts were stripped on the head so i had to buy a new head. Only reason i buy used is because I am not going to pay 11-14k for a new quad and I like the trx's they are powerhouses once built. Look forward to seeing this thing finished and ripping.

Stroker6.0h if you do buy a quad make sure it's a clean low hour quad that's mostly original. Or if you want to rebuild it you can buy a clapped one and restore it or whatever

John the quad I bought was far from clapped. Has long travel a arms and shocks, houser +2 steering stem, itp beadlocks, cp 13:1 piston, wider rear axle, and much more.

Stroker6.0h I try to avoid buying things that been messed with that much with all that aftermarket stuff. Id rather get a clean low hour quad in original shape.

Dude how did you get you flywheel to come off with a jaw puller I can only get two solid arms locked and the third doesn’t fit

My puller probably has a different Jaw than the one you're using.

Michael Sabo do you by any chance remember the brand name or where you got it from I’m trying to get mine off. I have the actual puller that threads onto it but the guy who had the motor before me jacked the threads up.
