(in Australia, we spell it Tyre) *The following if from the Michelin website for this Tire / Tyre* - "The MICHELIN® Uptis (Unique Puncture-Proof *Tire* System) is an airless mobility solution for passenger vehicles, which reduces the risk of flat tires and other air loss failures that result from punctures or road hazards." *2) why do we need to wait until 2024 before they are available?* - I do not have an answer for this question from any official FAQ page from Michelin, but I would assume because they are a high consumable used on every car under so many kinds of conditions, high acceleration, hard braking, high speed cornering, cold weather, hot weather, snow, mud, ice, rocks etc. and because people are putting their lives on the line with these tyres, that like a new drug, extensive testing, redesign and further testing will need to be done, to get the perfect design, that can handle all conditions, and still perform like a normal tyre and last just as long. *3) How much will they cost?* - These tyres are still in-development and will be not be available to the public until 2024, so ask me again then. How is the cornering?* - The tyres are still in development and won't be available for 4 years, so there is no way to answer any of those question until then. *7) Why even mention the Police Spike Strips in the video it should not matter* - You are right it does not matter, it was just a joke reference, when i saw these tyres I thought "oh what about Police spike strips, how will they stop fleeing cars" so i added that into the video, but it had no baring on the tyres development. This tire design has always struggled with high speeds. This is why you see them on slower moving vehicles, such as tractors, mowers, forklifts, "military vehicles," etc. but not on cars. 80 MPH is a daunting task for these.

So no director has ever thought of using them in a police chase sequence.. How cool would that be, so simple bt still futuristic..

Michelin introduced something called "TWHEEL" some 12 years ago i still remember this UPTIS is successor of TWHEEL.

I see a high speed pothole destroying a rim totally.. the way the tire comppresses in just the small pothole seems like a devistating impact on a rim for anything bigger going 40plus mph

Spikes are old tech. They throw special mats to wrap around the wheels and axles when you drive over it. Stops the car quickly and no dangerous spinning and debris. Military have been using this technique for years in the Middle East.

As a mechanic irregular wear on tyres is generally caused by a fault in the tracking of the steering toeing in or out causing the tyres to feather on the edges however vehicle maintenance also has a lot to do with wear on tyres a big one being tyre pressure, under inflated tyres will tend to wear on the outside of the tyre where as over inflated tyres will wear on the centre of the tread. As a regard to law enforcement stopping vehicles in a pursuit situation there are two other options to replace spike strips. The first being a a mechanism that that lifts the front of the car up via a set of metal rods on pistons however has very limited use. The second being a spike net which is essentially a large Kevlar blanket net covered in spikes that wraps around the front tyres and tangles the front axle immobilising the vehicle bringing it to a stop.

Last thing we'd want to worry about is the police spikes 😂🚨

Where I live some parts of the road is actually gone. Some points a 2 lane road becomes 1 lane because of potholes or erosion. Some areas where it's one labe there is a 2000ft change in elevation

what about the decibel and gas consumption in compare to the standard tires? does the space in between not cause much more air resistance and noise...especially on highways? And what if you have snow/ice inbetween?
