Agreed. It seems this is the way things are going. You can't get an honest review on you tube anymore and content creators are just creating glorified ads and using their viewers to make money. It should be a two way street but what if any benefit does content like this provide to anyone? It's just an ad and I bet most people watching don't realize that!

The Michelin website is extremely confusing. There are so many different enduro/e-bike/downhill tires and nowhere is it explained exactly where the differences are. Each rubber compound has its own entry, instead of each profile having its own entry where you can then click on the different rubber compounds like Schwalbe. There is a Wild Enduro, MagiX, GumX, Wild Enduro Racing Line, Wild Enduro MH, Wild Enduro MS, E-Wild Front, E-Wild rear and so on. Simply extremely confusing. That's the only reason I haven't tried Michelin tires yet. I just don't know which one to try because it's so confusing.

I've always taken those timing tests with a grain of salt. Rider fatigue and taking different lines from run to run can have a measurable impact on speed. Plus time of day, what you had to eat that day, and so on. Especially when the results vary by only a few seconds for each run.

I don't understand why everyone is giving him so much fire. He clearly stated from the beginning that this was first impressions and how he was flown out there by Michelin to review these tires. Everyone is complaining way too much that this was biased even though he clearly showed that it was sponsored. Nothing wrong with a guy reviewing some tires that he might enjoy. Finally, every video is not this clearly sponsored. It is totally cool to have one video set aside for a major sponsor. So far, most of his other videos have been incredibly helpful, entertaining, and super beneficial to the whole MTB community. Sorry everyone's giving you the fire, keep up the good work ❤

Cheers! I get where they’re coming from, but ya, I definitely try my hardest to be as up-front as possible and I’m not sure how they miss those disclaimers. What makes everything tricky is that I legitimately love the tires, but because I’m supported by the tire manufacturer, I feel like I can’t relay that fact without getting heat 😂

Still love the Maxxis DHR2 and Assegai combo, which I run on one of my bikes. But for my Enduro sled I have moved on to Continental Kryptotals in the DH casing and super soft compound . Very, very impressive tires and my go to moving forwards here in the PNW. However, I'd be interested in trying out these new Michelin's. I tried them once before ( but was not confident with the feel or the wet grip and they felt like they rolled slow, so I did not run them very long and tossed them to the side, but willing to give M another chance.
@rrolleman4879
@rrolleman4879 3 ай бұрын
I was set to try the Krypto's for my 170/180 AM bike, but the weight penalty compared to Maxxis EXO+ was too much. It's quite a significant difference, and weight on the wheels is where you don't want it when you're climbing. I ended up replacing the dhr2 in the rear for a Dissector EXO+ for summer riding and it has been amazing.
@superawesomefuntimego
@superawesomefuntimego 3 ай бұрын
@@rrolleman4879 My problem with the Exo and Exo+, specifically on the rear is that the sidewalls are pretty weak in comparison and I have to run a lot more pressure to keep them from folding over hard cornering or dinging the rims on impacts. Even with Maxxis, I run DD so the weight savings is not really there compared to Conti. With the heavier tires, I am generally only a few minutes slower climbing over an hour climb, so the weight does not make a big difference to me as I climb only to ride down and am not racing on climbs. Plus the Assegai Exo+ in Maxgrip is almost 1250g, so nearly the same weight.

I hear what you’re saying. We were descending the trace DH and I always lead because I ride like you described. I got to the bottom and one of my guys took a while to get there. Turns out he had a flat…he uses Cush core. I think it depends on what you’re comfortable with and the combination you can ride predictably. The other thing is that Cush core can help prevent pinch flats but doesn’t help side wall gashes. I’d never try to change anyone’s mind, over half my crew uses them and swears by them, I just haven’t had a need for them

I've ridden the previous Wild Enduro for a couple of seasons and I like them. I'm not going to pretend I can feel every little nuance between them and the Hans Dampf/Magic Mary I run in winter but the Michelins have always kept me upright, not had any punctures and they're wearing well. Sidewalls leak air for a bit when they're first installed. I feel like maybe there's a bit of a gap between the centre knobs and shoulder knobs compared to the MM but that's it. I'd just love dry trails to be honest 😂

I LOVED the racing line tires right off the bat. I was able to climb up stuff I never had before in Sedona thanks purely to the amount of grip they were providing. Seriously good. Yes, they were heavy, and not the fastest rollers. But my main concern became them drying out and cracking. The rubber hardened up and then I was noticing tons of hair line cracks everywhere on the sidewalls in under 4 months. I hope they've addressed that.

The Michelin Hot S in red was an absolute legend in the tyre world too - pretty much every trials rider in the world seems to have rune them at one point and they were the best all rounder tyre option (I used them for XC, DH, Gravel, Trail, Street, Trials and the odd road sportif) of their era - the only problem was some XC frames weren't wide enough to give decent mud clearance around a 2.1" tyre if you ran a wide rim (Like the Mavic D521 at 21 mm internal). Then Maxxis showed up and made grippier, more durable tyres and sold them cheaper and Michelin have been playing catch-up ever since. The big MTB tyre manufacturers have all lost the run of themselves on pricing at this point though, so I tend to run whatever's on sale, with Vittoria winning in terms of price to performance, and Schwalbe being the worst tyres I've ever used, and that includes the Tioga Psycho II I got in the '90s that walked out from under me every time I tried to corner and was nearly bald in 150 miles. I have never in my life found tyres that punctured so easily as the Schwalbe XC tyres that came on the bike I bought last year - swapped to a Maxxis F, Vittoria R and went from about a puncture per spin to not even remembering when my last puncture was.
@jokermtb

funny mention - I didn't get them purely because I couldn't handle the red colored rubber!!!! the green wildgripper 2.1's were the last michelin tires I ever rode. My 2019 bike came with schwalbe nobby nic's, and I didn't mind em one bit, no flats or issues, til they wore out and replaced them with an Aggesai 2.5 up front, and dhr2 - as there is hardly a better combo for grip IMO. It's so reliable, that it's hard to give that up on something new, as I'm a very lazy tire changer....@@peglor

That new MS looks very good,way better knobs than old wild enduros,I would said a mix DH22 with touches of Assegai. I would try it 100%, I have a DD Assegai in my Enduro and a DH22 on my DH,in some extreme rides I took the DH22 in my Enduro,slow rolling,not the most comfortable ride but the grip is fenomenal. Love to see that new pattern upgrade in the DH22 or some kind of evolution in the DH area. This Michelin WE MS,Maxxis Aseegai,Continental Krptotal and the Magyc Mary are very close IMO,all really good all rounders,any of those would work very well in almost any ride. Honestly, they're not groundbreaking or anything, but they're cheaper than Maxxis and longer wear for pretty much the same performance (as an advanced , non-pro rider). They're often on sale in my area and I can get a set of Wild Enduro for the price on 1 Maxxis... So Michelin it is.

That's what I've found as well. My wild enduros go on for the winter wet riding season. In the summer tho, the assegai dhr2 combo go back on.

Same thing and they are pretty resistant too. I can go lower in pressure too. Maxxis are overrated IMO, I know a few pro riders who are sponsored by Maxxis and told me they are not that great compared too the competition...

You have never tried the DH34. Way more grip way more support. Maxxis is lacking honestly… also there softest compound wears so fast and is like riding on gum… not confidence inspiring at all.

Wild enduro MH vs E-Wild Rear?
@TheLoamRanger
@TheLoamRanger 3 ай бұрын
Hmm tough call. With my limited experience, the MH seems to have more straight line brake traction, but the E-Wild Rear grips a little more in the corners. The E-Wild rear is 2.6 and the MH is 2.5, so that may be a factor for you as well.

I just wish they would make a subtle looking sidewall because that vibrant yellow/blue which is rather large as well, it just hit you in the face. That combo just doesn't go well together with most bikes and is something they should reconsider. Personally I would like all tires to simply be all black because it quickly becomes so much mish mash trying to pull attention when you also got rims with big logos and what not. All black rims and all black tires would be so much better.

DH/Enduro tires with bad grip in the dry, special with berms like that, has to be a miracle. 😅. Go to the wet, come on…. 😄. But not Terras de Bouro, there you always have grip, doesn’t matter the tire. You know that already. 😁

The new rear looks like the old Panaracer design. So , hmm, lug design was perfected in the 90s. Best tire I have ever ridden for XC in the 90s was the Klien Death Grip. I would love to see that tread design on a new tire.

Continental on MTB is quite different, for some reason they're a nightmare to install and an absolute trauma to dismount them. My dad struggled to remove them with a steel motorbike tyre lever off of his Lapierre and i saw plenty of people complaining about the same too, otherwise they're nothing remarkable

Well, I for one enjoyed the video and the content. If you say you are being a 100% truthful, I have no reason not to believe you unless you are proven wrong. I believe that we should grab as much tech from motocross as we can and these companies that make tires for moto should be able to let that tech trickle over into MTB for their and our benefit. I may try these tires when I refresh, and if don't like them, I won't hold you personally responsible. LOL!

I needed proper racing tyres for my first Ironman back in 2022. Bought Michelin Power Cup’s TLR in 28 mm. Best tyres I ever rode. Fast, grippy, zero punctures even on light gravel. Sealed with a floor-pump, absolutely hassle free installation. Beauty. When I ride my Schwalbes dead I am getting Michelin gravelers…
