It's about time, hey?
I get as much done as I can here before I need to move onto other projects. I didn't get quite as much done as I was hoping to, but these things apparently take time. 🤪
I purchased the Stihl MS 170 to have a second saw - between all the projects at home and at the cabin, its nice to have two. I'm really liking this saw! I will put an 18" bar on my Husqvarna and have the Stihl with the 14".
Yes - they cancelled my surgery! It was a big to-do actually, infection diseases were involved, too many managers, but in the end, they realize they made a big mistake and feel bad that they cancelled me. It's looking like November at this point based on my work schedule and such. It's ok - I will live with this a while longer!
Although I'm overall happy about how the front of the shed turned out, I am a bit disappointed in how it looks crooked. I'm going to have to accept a lot of imperfection moving forward, but I would still like to try and fix it a bit. oh well? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm late to the party, just by accident came across your channel and can't stop watching. Watched every single post in 2 weeks, you amaze me, I'll admit I didn't see what happened with Scout coming, I was shocked and stunned and shed more than a few tears over that one. You make me laugh and smile and also make me very nervous! Your "thrill seek" factor is off the charts. You have schnoots the size of basket balls! Good luck and were all counting on you to stay alive...

Michy you are by far the hardest working woman that I have seen yet and your knowledge of machinery and woodworking is outstanding. You are making a lot of wood structures that anyone would be proud to call their own. Keep up the good work.

It is so great to see someone WORKING, figuring out how a design should be transformed into a building. I know you'll get a ton of comments telling you that you should have done certain things differently, and I see a couple things I've done differently, building two large pole barns at the family ranch in Montana, over forty years ago. What I am really enthused about is how you are constantly trying to find solutions to problems, so your shed will come out plumb, level, and square. So far, I think you're doing great. I do hate to see anyone work under any kind of hydraulic boom, however, be it backhoe, excavator, loader bucket etc. i worked in the woods with a man who lost a leg when a crawler-loader bucket broke a hose and fell on him. So work safe, young lady. I really enjoy watching you get on with this project.

I'm pretty good at building things currently building a shed for the neighbor, built one for another neighbor last summer. I've built basement rooms, steps, decks, do my own electrical, have worked on cars since I was a kid & still love car repair too. I've accumulated lots of tools over the years & they've saved me thousands. ' This old house ' my favorite KZfaq channel. I'm always interested in how people do things & new ideas. Like the door you built from scrap lumber. It's one of a kind & unique, that's what it's all about. My grandfather was a Carpenter and built a real log cabin in West Virginia that my sister still lives in till this day. He could break a bone with a handshake he was so strong. I guess that's where I get it from. Appreciate you taking the time to make the vids.

I always wear a logger's helmet with face guard, gloves, steel-toed boots, and canvas type clothes while "logging." Rarely I use a dust mask. I added chaps when doing big jobs, but don't think safety gear will save you. Only your brain will. Safety chaps can give you a false sense of security leading to an accident. I'm down in North Carolina so I avoid any chainsaw work in the summer because of the heat and humidity-especially with gear on.

Intrigued by your shed and cabin site starting at the 'beginning' was I felt necessary. The methods that you used were innivative, using the digger, burning the bottom of the posts, plumbing levelling etc. Learning lessons is part of any process and you recognised your slight mistake. It was facinating to watch and I look forward to the rest of your 'episodes'.

My stepdad worked in the woods his whole life up in the UP of Michigan. I remember once when I was a kid he came home and had a nasty gash from one corner of his face to the other. He was using a chainsaw and the chain snapped. It swung back and sliced his face literally from one corner, across his brow and nose, and down to his jaw. He had that scar for the rest of his life. He also lost a little bit of muscle movement in his face. Safety first!

If it's still bugging you cut the left post, or don't worry. On some homes when rough framing the footings weren't level so we'd sight the front wall with the ridge, and adjust so they plane(make parallel), much like you're doing... or say screw it and move on, it's a frickin barn! 😁

@michygoss7148
@michygoss7148 3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps I’ll do a review video in the future, but I would really need to have my ducks in a row to make it good. In short - it’s ok. I think that the newer models have additional features, and they’ve worked out a few kinks. It cuts wood. The ‘features’ on my model are kind of a joke, but perhaps they’re better now. My friend just bought the HM130 model (mine is the HM126), and so far I think he’s happy with it. I helped him get started with it, and noticed quite a few upgrades that I’m sure are handy. If you can afford a bit more of a mill, I would consider the Norwood mills. If I was going to upgrade that’s my next choice.

Michy, you're amazing! I really enjoy watching you figure things out, as you accomplish so much. I'm like you in that I want things to look right, and adjust as I go, but as I've gotten older(the big 6 0 this year), sometimes close enough is not a bad thing as long as it's functional and safe. I hope they can get you scheduled in a few months to fix your shoulder...though looking forward to more videos before that happens. To find the building square. You measure from one corner to the opposite corner. Example: Front right corner to back left corner, then front left corner to back right corner = distance should be the same length. if not building is crooked. Oh & you can square your walls the same way. Top right to bottom left & Top left to bottom right. Do both ways & you will have a building .0001% off square...
