Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
After snarky youth Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) loses track of his father at the airport, he mistakenly gets on a plane headed for New York City -- while the rest of the McCallisters fly to Florida. Now alone in the Big Apple, Kevin cons his way into a room at the Plaza Hotel and begins his usual antics. But when Kevin discovers that the Sticky Bandits (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) are on the loose, he struggles to stop them from robbing an elderly man's toy store just before Christmas.

A genuine, unironic cinematic masterpiece. This takes the already phenomenally directed first film and elevates it to a whole different level. I love how Kevin’s protecting other people rather than defending himself, showing his character growth.

It's not really a Christmas movie. It just takes place in Christmas and has very slight Christmas undertones, other than that, it's just a movie in December. Edit: I should probably add that you can enjoy this movie and consider it a Christmas movie, i was just adding my perspective.

I legitimately don't know how this happened, but it became a running joke in one of my friend groups that because Macaulay Culkin was at the world trade center in this movie, that he was responsible for 9/11. Not the character Kevin McCallister, but, at the time, 21-year-old actor Macaulay Culkin.

Fun Fact: Once got lost in Disney World for a few hours. I was 6 or 7 at the time, so my idiot child brain didn't think of talking to a worker there. Point is, this could have been "Lost in Florida" rather than "Lost in New York," and I know somehow Kevin could get lost in Florida instead.

I always liked this one growing up, glad to see MWS does too! Also, the way the "gasoline in the toilet" trap was set up is brilliant. You can tell Harry remembers the blowtorch trap, and Kevin, predicting that he would, set it up to play off of him being cautious about going through doors.

For these movies, I always say “The first two are good, the rest of them suck. It’s a shame how that’s what the franchise became, but I’m glad it’s a universal agreement”. This is also another great entry in the couch videos. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals and a Happy New Year. 🎄🎆

I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out, and the audio clipping absolutely is part of the experience. The screaming is the most distinct part of the burglar characters beyond their slapstick injuries. It just sounds so much more painful when their screams are ripping apart the fabric of the universe like that than if they had used something cleaner.

Honestly, I wish I was in Kevin's situation. Who'd think "Yeah. You know what's one of the best places to spend the holidays in America? FLORIDA, where alligators walk upright while walking their humans. Florida is IRL Jurrasic Park, but the mortality rate is far higher. Also RAIN INSTEAD OF SNOW.

Home Alone and Home Alone: Lost in New York are classics and all But... no lie, Home Alone 3 is my all-time favorite, though my family will not let me watch it. You guys should react to it. It is wildly underrated, and it even has a young Scarlet Johanson, and the kid is ACTUALLY home alone. It clears up all of the "but you could have *blank*" and the three stooges/yet would 100% murder this kid level of acting is wonderful. Plus, the plot is hilariously ridiculous.

2:44. Not to be _that_ guy, but you *are* allowed to bring batteries on a plane. I know this because I was travelling from one side of Australia to the other; I had a Ziploc bag of AAs in my backpack for a university electronics project (I didn't end up needing them, so I completely forgot they were there), and nobody at the check-in brought it up. So unless someone at airport security wasn't doing their job properly, I think you're in the clear if you need to take your Duracells with you.
