Video title was "Mid sized trucks to avoid". He pretty much listed all the mid sized trucks available, so I am still trying to figure out which trucks to not avoid and then he didn't rank them, but he said he did. I now know what KZfaq channel to avoid.

Agreed. I think there would be a solid market for a more basic truck with rubber floors and Naugahyde seats. Carpeted floors just hold mud a dog fur. And who the hell walks around inside their truck in bare feet? I want good power, four wheel drive or AWD. I do not need a sun roof or numerous electronic gizmos. But car manufacturers learned. While back that they couldn’t sell us more vehicles, but they could sell us more vehicle.

I bought a 2022 pro-4X and love it. I test drove the Rangers, colorado/canyon, and Tacoma. I ended up with the Nissan. I like the fact that Nissan is selling a truck not a giant computer on wheels. The interior is way better than the rest the infotainment system works great. I've used it at our family farm and it did great off road. (I had to go through a creek with a pretty steep incline and had no issues with ground clearance). I think alot of these KZfaqrs are payed off by these other car companies. The frontier has everything I wanted and need at a good price point.

The Nissan Frontier is the better overall truck in my opinion. I got the Pro4X in Dec. 2021 and it has been fantastic. Plenty of power and luxury. The SV with the premium package replaced the SL. I drove all the vehicles except the Maverick and the Santa Cruz and none of them drive as well as the Frontier. My Frontier is the perfect midsize for me.

In my opinion I would rank the New frontier pro 4X is number one. I just bought one about 2 months ago and absolutely love it. I did a ton of research on all of the midsize pickups before making any decisions. I will say though that I might have had some bias as my vehicle it replaced is a 2007 Nissan Xterra which I loved dearly and actually decided to keep it as a winter vehicle. When looking for vehicles I really would have loved to see a brand new 2022 Nissan Xterra redesign but the frontier is a beauty the engine feels great the infotainment system is really nice I don't find it cluttered at all. Seats are super comfortable driving position is really good and adjustable. The only cons that I can see some people not liking is the hydraulic steering instead of electric and the amount of leg room in the rear. Other than that though I really can't see why anybody wouldn't like this truck.

I bought the Nissan pro4x. The engine is what a V6 in a midsize should feel and sound like. It looks amazing inside and out. I got the green one without the leather seats. I just prefer the orange trim which is not available with leather. The infotainment system is millions of lightyears better than any other in the segment… period. The quality of the screen and image is superior and the screen size is larger than most. I terms of mpg… I’ve been hitting the highway and it’s done 27mpg and 20-22 mpg in the city. The wheel is just amazing, it feels just the right amount of heavy to really get that trucky feeling. Nissan is always an underdog in this segment but somehow is one of the most durable. I still see around older models from early 2000’s. Plus is AMERICAN 🇺🇸.

I had a 16 GMC Canyon. At 22,000km the bushings on the suspension went, never seen a dirt road it was a city truck and driven slowly. At 28,000km the infotainment head unit crapped out, was replaced under warranty. At 36,000km the rear taillight kept shorting out and the bulb was melting into the socket. Gm couldn’t fix this problem and it persisted until I got rid of the truck. Around 36,000km the 4x4 system wouldn’t engage or disengage in cold weather. Gm couldn’t fix this either meaning I had to leave it in 4x4 just to ensure I had it when I needed it… finally at 44,000km the engine started to burn oil and was blowing oil out of the exhaust. The engine needed to be replaced, and the head unit failed a second time. With all the problems on the vehicle, I went to Amvic filed a complaint and gm bought the truck back under lemon law. What a hunk of junk. My buddies on his third frontier all three have gotten him to 250k km plus and he just trades them for newer ones with no issues

The biggest misconception with trucks, is that everyone uses them for the same thing. If we did, we wouldn't have mini-trucks and the F 400 and 500 series trucks, and everything inbetween. The hate that the Ridgeline gets is stupid. I drove a Ridgeline when I worked for Honda Canada, and thought it was great. The AWD system and VTM-4 made it so I NEVER got stuck, in mud, snow or anything else. The Ridgeline also out-performed a lot of Jeeps at a Jamboree, due to the way the drive system worked...I always had a tire on the ground and with quality BFG's it was fantastic. The argument that it had a funny shape and couldn't carry a camper was ridiculous; neither can the Avalanche and neither can most 1/2 tonne trucks. The new Ranger is great, and the Tacoma just keeps on going, though in both cases, the lack of diesel engines here in North America, gives us significantly less payload capabilities than the same trucks in the UK for instance; with the diesel you get an upgraded suspension and brakes. Obviously with the lack of full-sized trucks in the UK and Europe, having the mid-sized with improved ability is a necessity we just won't find here. If the Maverick or Ridgline works for a retired couple or family who need to do a recycling run weekly, go to the Home Depot or garden nursery, or fly-fishing on a Sunday afternoon...that is great. If someone is out there saying that the only truck is a one-tonne, lifted, chipped, and belching smoke on seven foot tires, then I would recommend therapy to overcome the smaller than average penis, and recognize that stock Land Rovers have explored the world, every inch of it without a lift kit, chip, and a mortgage worth of add-ons.

My criteria, in order, are safety features then freeway comfort, and finally utility. Price figures only after I decided on trim. Example for safety is getting alerts when backing up at Costco. Example for comfort is back support when on the freeway. I welcome your comments.

I just received a new 2022 Tacoma on 3/3. I have owned 4 Toyota small trucks since 1984 including the new 22 model. In total I have had to replace two mechanical parts, a water pump, and an A/C compressor. No tows, and only two non-starts due to batteries. People can say what they want, but they are tough, durable, and reliable. Yes, they are less powered than most of its competition, and they don't have all the frills. You know, very things that break the most. Instead, Toyota focuses on refining the detail that makes them reliable. Tacoma's do some things great, and others only extremely well. But rest assured, that if you maintain it, it will provide you with a life long ride, on road, and off. FYI, my 2022 is getting 21.5 - 23.5 combined mpg

I bought a 2022 Nissan Frontier, albeit only the S model. I had a 2015 Chevy Colorado before that. It's not really fair to compare the two, but I will say the Colorado felt more solidly built and durable. However, the Frontier's engine power is impressive; it also handles bumps much better than my Colorado did. The brakes are top notch, and the interior is considerably quieter as well. I guess time will tell if my Frontier was a good replacement for my Colorado, but I did get a good seven years out of it without any major mechanical issues.

Frontier has always been an underdog. I love them, but I hate Nissan for other super crappy vehicles. I have a 2014 Colorado but the engine had to be rebuilt right at 125k miles. Coulnd't handle a working life due to a terrible design on the engine itself. I wanna buy a new truck, but I find myself looking between the Colorado, Tacoma and Frontier. I want the top dog. Pro4x V6, ZR" or TRD pro. Up to now, the colorado offers a Front Locker, Tacoma has great reputation and great aftermarket support and Frontier seems like it is a better working and highway truck, but lacks both advantages from the other 2 trucks. Any thoughts on that?

For people who actually go hardcore off-roading/adventuring, body on frame is obviously the choice, but the Ridgeline will surprise with its capabilites and will suffice in light off-roading situations. And if you're seriously worried about tow ratings, then you're shopping in the wrong segment. A full size truck is what you want.

Ranger owner here. When I started to look for a midsized back in 2020, I looked with an open mind. Test drove the Colorado, the Tacoma, and the Ranger. Did not consider the Frontier nor the Ridgeline. The Frontier was out as I did not like the styling and the Honda was out as it would not have suited my needs. First and foremost was towing ability then comfort and other features. Off road ability was also not considered as I am not a mudder. Ability to handle a Canadian winter, however, was important. So with those criteria in mind, I started my journey. First the Taco. Ergonomics on this truck are just so so. I am just under 6 feet and found the interior cramped. Power delivery from the 3.5L V6 was ok but not outstanding. 5 speed transmission and a 600 lb towing capacity was also considered but I knew towing our trailer with this rig, due to the 5 speed, meant the motor and tyranny would be worked to their limit especially towing in the mountains. I had a 2016 4 Runner with the 4L and the 5 speed and found it really was not a suitable power train combination for towing. So, Taco off the list. I really considered the Colorado however my company rented me one for a trip that lasted about 5 hours between cities.Good power and a decent ride but, and this is a big but, comfort in this truck was not even average. I found myself stopping every couple of hours to give my butt a rest from the park bench seats. Also, cheap plasticky interior. So Chev/ GMC midsized was off the list. Lastly the Ranger. Yes some don't like the styling but I feel the same way about the Taco. Plusses for Ranger, very comfortable seats you can spend all day in, roomy interior and the 7000 lb + towing capacity. Powertrain wise, I was skeptable about the smallish 4 cylinder but it has enough juice for this truck. Also the torque the engine puts out, more than it's competitors, makes a world of difference when towing. Also though maybe a little dated in some respects, the design has been around for many years so all the bugs should be worked out. One niggles with the Ranger is the small fuel tank which is something Ford should consider in the next Gen of this truck. All in all I am very happy with it.

No such vehicle is perfect they all have some issues and all break down at some point. If you listen to everyone who thinks they are experts and maybe not owned any of the trucks mentioned you will never buy a vehicle. Just buy what you like and enjoy it! I own a 2021 Ridgeline touring edition and I love it. 90 percent of people who buy a truck use it for work or weekend yard work or going to home depot. The rest of 10 percent use their trucks for towing all the time and go off reading.

2023 Nissan frontier SV $40,000 MSRP. Lease at 339 a month. 10 k a year. 24 months lease. Trading out of a 2020 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk with 25,000 miles getting 25,000 trade-in value. Only doc fee and first month's payment due at signing. They are adding heated seats, remote start and tint. How'd I do ? Could have bought the trailhawk for $22,000. But was thinking about warranty and also never had a truck before. Crew cab to boot. And I'm surprised it really does get up and go pretty good when passing. A lot of these for cylinders these days just aren't powered especially without the turbo

I like the exterior looks of the Black Pro 4X in the video. But that interior, the back seat in particular looks awfully tight. After 3 Tacomas I bought a Honda Ridgeline Black Edition two weeks ago and I love it. Can't beat the interior room, the amount of storage and the ride is unmatched. I don't do a lot of towing, but 5,000 lbs should cover anything I would ever want to do. Not here to bash any other trucks. But the Ridgeline should take care of me for a long, long time!

I have now had my Ranger Lariat Tremor for 9mo and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a friggin truck, has enough tech for me, 21mpg in mixed use, and looks great. I love it more than my ‘18 Tacoma TRD Off Road. Just my opinion on my experience with both trucks. Never had a need for larger trucks.

I'd take the santa cruz. The styling is in another class IMO.

I rented a new Tacoma last year and didn't like it, not a good highway truck ... so I am wondering why do they sell so many ? I think the Ridgeline is a much better truck than the Tacoma for highway cruising, comfort and features.

I work at a Honda dealership. Expect much expensive maintenance. V6 Honda is belt driven vrs Toyota has chain. Overall longevity Toyota will be less maintenance.

Well I have the frontier and I can tell you the people who rated it don't drive trucks. It was the only pickup I saw on the list, the rest were toys or station wagons without the hatch. Oh I forgot the double entry from GMC/Chevy.

The frontier is only behind the Tacoma when it comes to what really matters.

How do you call the Ridgeline or the Santa Cruz a truck - with no frame? They are cars with a box on the back.

one question wish you could have answered which mid size can be flat towed? as listed in the owners manual so as to be covered by insurance.
