Thanks for the video! I had the same problem. I was able to actually take apart the small switch, bend the contacts, reassemble the switch, and then put everything back together and it worked!

Alec is awesome! I fix nearly everything that I possibly can in my home and use youtube almost exclusively. Most posts are a constant ramble and yammering and words filling dead air space. I picked up a Miele S2120 on the side of the road, took it home, cleaned it out, but I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. I heard from another video to "step on it" but where, -- didn't want to break it. Finally I figured out to step on the "divided circle" and my "new" Miele vacuum turned on - a light step will do it. Works great for cleaning the car - I am retired and have two granddaughters and you know how that goes. Thanks for posting.

Great video, solved my issue and saved me a couple hundred. BTW, the way you remove the ring without causing cosmetic damage, you should simply just twist and pull ring after removing the screw. it twists and locks into place. thanks again.

Thank you! I was able to get a new switch for $15 and fix it myself and save my Miele Aerial. The only thing I would say that I didn’t hear is that my vacuum used a hex screw driver in a size 20. Not sure if that’s a standard size…
