Mike Builds a Boot Barn End Table for Our Skoolie

We got the idea for a boot barn from lots of other Skoolie builds, and in our case, it doubles as an end table for our couch, too! Mike built this piece the same way he built all the cabinet boxes for the entire bus, except this one has it's own back instead of the back being up against the wall. We had to build it as it's own separate piece so that it can be removed to allow for the couch or washing machine to be removed & replaced! Mike also added a convenient electrical outlet and USB port to the end beside the sofa. Even though this is one of the smaller projects on the bus, it still took 2 days to build the box & doors, plus sand, stain and install, with electrical hooked up.

About Us:
Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!
Mike & Kerry

Love your videos. Over the heater you could make shelves in metal for shoes. So it make your shoes warm and dry. Make the shelves of metal/aluminium pipe/rod so the air can flow. That would be a nice place for big shoes/boots.

Hi Mike, Hi Kerry I'm not an electrician by all means but am a Handyman out here west of Phoenix and am doing quite some electrical work. For my opinion you should install that receptacle into a box. For one the spaces are quite narrow between the wood and the receptacle, the second is that it is not covered from the back , means you could be electrocuted if you reach in with your hand or a metal part of your backpack leans on it and sets that one on fire.

Hi Mike, Hi Kerry, How you both doing? I hope you both are doing good and keeping safe away from this virus.. Kerry is right Mike you gotta love the blue print on that piece of wood, hope you dont lose it... Once again the" Boot barn" a good name for it by the way, looks really good and certainly sets off the front entrance of the bus build, well take care you two and look after each other and stay virus free... Love to you both, see you again soon...

Mike, you and Kerry need to make two hour videos! I just can't get enough of y'all! But, I do realise the headaches it'd take to do the editing of course! From the subscriber's side that would be totally awesome though! I can just hear Kerry saying in the intro now, "It's the Mike and Kerry show coming to y'all live and direct from McBusface Studios...so, just get your popcorn, pickles, beer, sodas, and, candy bars out and settle in for more britches bustin' building excitement!" LOL! Yes, I 'do' have a lot of retirement time to think up these silly antics! But then again y'all wouldn't wanna have boring eye stretchin' subscribers to watch your videos would you? Hahaha! ....okay, I better stop here👇. (and, I haven't even had a drink of liquor at all!). Stay safe, be happy, love God, and, I'll see y'all in the next video! ~Jim in Houston~

I know in all reality a two hour video from y'all is probably not gonna ever happen, but, I'm just saying I could watch y'all all day long if I could! MY way of letting you know how much your channel means to me. I probably sound like a 67 year old groupie, but hey, y'all have a great channel what can I say! I do some editing myself on my teeny weeny 53 subscriber channel and I know that editing can be a real pain in the rear sometimes. I'm far from being what I'd call super good at it but I'm getting there slowly but surely! I've started making videos on my iPhone in the last week and OMG I can't believe how good the quality is! I have a lapel microphone coming from Amazon on Sunday so the wind noise won't be horrid like my last video was! When I get to go full time (hopefully by November) I'll have much better content. Anyway, thanks for the reply and this is hoping y'all are safe, happy, and, blessed! Btw, the bus is looking "marvellous"!!

We found one that would fit over the wheel well and we weren't even sure that it would fit in the bus through the front door but you may have to take your door off to get it in. Then we just used L brackets to hold it to the floor.

Yeah I do the exact samething Mike many of my builds are written on wood I've got a file cabinet full of them some of them had to be sacrificed for the other builds. Is that a cat door by the main door in the stairwell? And are you planning on letting her roam around at different campsites? Just wondering. So you got a sponsor on the Jeans? You'll have a tough time blowing them out!!!! And I thought the back pack was called a bug out bag but I guess the purpose of the bus is a bug out bus ? The entry looks awesome really well done.
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 4 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's a cat door! We will keep her on a leash outside at first, until we feel extremely sure that she's acclimated and we're in a safe area. We also watch The Indie Projects and are following their lead on having a nomadic cat with a tracker on her collar!

After owning a class A diesel pusher and now a class C motorhome my wife would not even consider sitting anywhere but where she can see out the windshield plus she navigates so totally its necessary for me. Our class A had a recliner seat as a copilot and it was great. But you put your boot barn there. Oh well.

Shouldn’t those outlets be in a box? Shelf in Kerry cabinet ? Or above diesel heater? Make sure what ever door hardware you get doesn’t snag your clothes as you walk buy. I catch my pockets all the time on our cabinet / drawer pulls.
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 4 жыл бұрын
OMG, we say the same thing about handles that snag your clothes, it's a TOTAL PET PEAVE for us!!! We will add a shelf to Kerry's shoe shack but probably not the heater space ~ we cant attach a shelf to the back wall there because it is a hinged door that opens from the front of the bus! As for the electrical we've followed what we've seen others do (folly?), but would like to get an electricians opinion.
@jason328d6
@jason328d6 4 жыл бұрын
Bussy McBusface I’m no electrician but if it was residential all junctions, connections have to be inside a box. Wouldn’t be to terrible to add a box inside your cabinets. We did those in our kitchen island.
