similar story (born 1970) in the early 80s i remember with the family being in some department store and i heard this title only faint out of the background easy listening "PA system" of the shopping center, and it caught me, i tried to filter out any other sound - for years did not know who it was but always greatly enjoyed the song and still do. Yet up to date i do not know what the lyrics actually mean (English is not my native language but there are so many other songs i fully understand, only here the lyrics give riddles) but never mind it's a beautiful title.

I was 17 when this came out and remember buying the 45 single in our price, I still think it’s great record, beautifully recorded, lovely folk rock feel with those jagged strums in the bridges giving it a bit of a flavour of the who almost, and then those 2 great guitar solos, and of course Maggies perfect voice, so much warmth. The feeling at the time was it was at least inspired by John lennons murder, and oldfields emotional reaction to it, whether that’s true or not I don’t know. But hey what a time for music, there was always at least one really good single in the top 20 at any one time, the utter trash that passes for music now, shameful

Mike Oldfield is very talented with the number of different instruments he can play, as well as great composing. Agree, beautiful recording and video. There's so much great musicianship here, Maggie's voice is perfect for this romantic ballad, and the visuals are a perfecr match (wow, that silky white dress!). The whole feels completely unforced, as soon as you hear it the song feels completely natural like a folk-song, even though it's actually not an easy one to play. I agree this kind of quality pop/rock music is sadly absent from the charts and radio waves these days.

The dreamy excellence of Mike Oldfield's genius and the female singers he performed with. I remember when this first came out in the charts. Maggie is a brilliant example of those partnerships.
