I believe the Someday My Prince session was the last time Miles and Coltrane played together. Can't think of a time that would have been later.

Thanks for (another) great and informative video guys 👍 Of Miles Davis on MoFi I have only Jack Johnson and Kind Of Blue (which arrived 2 weeks after the UHQR 33rpm version...). I'd ordered it many months before but was then backordered - and I had completely forgotten about the order...

Kind Of Blue is actually quite good. I don’t think it is as bass heavy as others have stated. The mastering is balanced to my ears. The double 45 is a very enjoyable listen. This is an upgrade to my Legacy Edition. I’m sure the UHQR is as good as it gets. However, I have a modest setup using a Pro-ject Debut Carbon turntable and vintage speakers. I’m not an audiophile, but enjoy great sound.

I've been listening to a 1970 Live at the Fillmore West show, the only time I ever saw Miles - he opened for the Grateful Dead. It was an amazing show. Japanese Sony released for record store day "Black Beauty" it's one song played over all four sides.

Thanks for the video, your honesty, and the great information! Felipe, it’s Joaquin Rodrigo’s, Jim Hall did a good guitar version of it on CTI. I was lucky to visit Aranjuez when I lived in Spain, nice little town. I found in my old collection a hidden treasure, OG ‘Round About Midnight mono, it does sound amazing, much better than Speakers’, will get mofi. Interesting relationship Bill and Miles, it would be nice to compare to Mingus and Monk’s, love hate relationships.

Dear Mahal, you’re right. I blanked on his name at the time of the shooting lol. Love and hate relationships are so common in music, definitely a theme to explore!

I recently bought the Mofi Nefertiti because my OG was less than perfect and I was really curious to compare them. I was absolutely blown away by the drums on the track ‘Nefertiti’ and decided that I’m going to replace my OG 2nd quintet albums with the Mofis as they get repressed.

Miles on Mofi are a must they mastered them so perfectly I still need to grab Miles in the Sky and Nefertiti on Mofi . I sold my Bitches Brew 360 also when I got the Mofi but I kept my Uk OG it’s a killer second . Jack Johnson and On the Corner Mofis blew me away the Sonics on those albums are amazing and sold those originals also great miles Mofi feature and episode guys . I’m going to pass on the Miles box set I have all of those but for those who don’t have them it’s a great reference point for his electic years .

I've read some comments saying that the Speakers Corner version of "Round About Midnight" is actually better than the Mofi one. I own the Mofi, and have to disagree with Felipe, I found it quite disappointing, but I'll check it out again. BTW, before "Porgy & Bess" Miles & Gil Evans recorded "Miles Ahead" in 1957 for Columbia, which was a huge hit. Regarding the 50s Miles/Columbia catalogue, there are some Legacy Mono (which were once RSD titles) releases, which sound great, most were done by either Kevin Gray or Ryan K. Smith (from digital files), and are great bang for the buck. Best wishes from Chile.

Hey Felipe, thanks for the comment, I think it is a matter of the presentation of the music and the system, slight variations make a sound more or less attractive to different people and it is great. I know the speakers corners is great as well, so lucky you to have both. Yes, I know we didn’t mention mikes ahead and even it’s cover controversy, as a few other titles, simply because we were focused on MoFi, but it is indeed great- F

I have MOFI My Funny Valentine, In a Silent Way, and Kind of Blue, and the only other one I’m interested in is Four & More. About Kind of Blue, from what I can tell it wasn’t universally panned when it came out. Michael Fremer gave it a 10 out of 11, Mike from The In Groove rated it very high in his shootout in 2017, etc. Later it became a thing where everybody seems to agree the MOFI is terrible but it used to be fairly well regarded (though some people were complaining about the bass back then). I think it sounds fine but I haven’t done a deep comparison.

Chris, as suggested I came over to listen to the comments on Kind Of Blue, but to my surprise none of you heard the MOFI version. I have hardly any Jazz records so KOB was just reissued by Mofi at 69.99, vs the 45 RPM $150 UHQR. I like Bass so most of the reviews online say that the Mofi has too much bass, but the panning really only started after the DSD-gate. Plenty of the youtube reviewers have preferred the MOFI one, so I am leaning in that direction. Considering I am not a jazz guy, I don't expect I will know the difference! Cheers

Hey guys Nice episode. At one point someone said they liked their Legacy version of Bitches Brew. What are your thoughts on any of the Legacy versions? I bought Mofi of Bitches Brew, but if I want to build my Miles collection, I don't see myself spending $60 for these releases.

For me, the 2013 mono versions are a good target. I think most if not all of them were cut by KG and they should still be affordable. - Chris

I was able to compare my MOFi 45 RPM copy of E.S.P with then Impex AAA , and to be honest, they're both good, different. If I could choose, I'd get the Impex, since I prefer 33s. Great album musically.

Hi Felipe, it’s true, being good or not can be quite relative, and I think in the case of those great pressings it’s all a matter of presentation, but all a very pleasing experience- F

Why are MoFi‘s so easily available? Here, the new releases and reprints are sitting on the shelves of record dealers like „sour milk“. Whereas the i.e. AS/AP releases are selling like „hot rolls“. I myself will not tolerate records in my collection I have been gravely betrayed with, given the much higher prices we had to pay in Europe. Although some of the after ownership change releases sound pretty good, I am giving all of them away to people who are by now knowing what they are buying, since returning them to MoFi for refund as per the legal deal, is difficult out of Europe. Some of pre-ownership change releases also sound great…
