Hey there, you can get KZfaq to add those marks onto the loading bar automatically if you put the times at the beginning of each line in the description, like so: 00:00 - Intro 02:05 - ND16P Filter Flight 07:54 - Auto Settings Flight 11:31 - ND8 Filter flight 15:05 - ND16 Filter Flight 18:25 - Side by Side Comparison Here's an example video with the thing working: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e914fKtkz6_bpYE.html

I think that ND filters, if adjusted to the same exposure values as AUTO will just get the same image and nothing will be noticeable, unless there is a lot of movement, at which point, the lower shutter speed (adjusted manually to double frame) that could be set thanks to the ND filter will give the desired natural motion blur and will make the video appear more natural to the eye. But in sunny situations, a polarizer filter will make a difference by reducing glare and bringing back the colors. So, if you don't care about having the motion blur, don't use filters, but if you live in a place with tons of sun and reflections, use at least a polarized filter, so you can get a less overexposed sky (more blue) and greener trees. To understand this better, use your polarized glasses outdoors and rotate them over tree leaves reflecting sun and you'll see that at some point the reflection will go away and you will get the full green color instead of washed out green. Same thing will happen with your drone using polarizer filters.

Well, polarizer filter is fine for photo, but not for video. If you fly in conditions where the light is constatly changing e.g. under the trees, going with manual exposure, you can get consistent motion blur. But not proper exposure, because the amount of light, where ISO 100 is way too much. In this situation the ND 16 (32) comes handy. Since MIni has constant 2.8 apperture, ND filters are must have.

It's not just about the image. It's also about the motion blur. Sure color might look the same, but when you get a more cinematic effect with motion blur by using ND filter.

The filter is definitely needed for someone shooting video seriously and knows how to work with manual settings. For beginner or someone just flying for recreational purposes, i personally think the Auto mode on Mini is pretty good enough. I would love to get the ND filter, however, it's quiet pricey rn since not many companies are in this business for the mini yet :( Great video btw 👍

The auto setting on the Mini works amazing. But I really noticed the best change with the ND 16. The polarization blocks out the blue in a more natural way without getting too warm. Even so you can still make adjustments. I'm pretty sure I have to buy these now after seeing the things I'm unhappy about with the videos I've been shooting. Thanks for the tips.

@@rogermcnorton6119 I think it depends what kind of quality you want. ND filters allow you to use same shutter speed (twice of framerate you are shooting), so you can have (or not) "motion blur" effect whole time. In automatic mode MM will change that so in some part of video you may have that and on other parts wont. In still pictures I dont see use of ND filters unless you want those cool motion blur effects.

It's the ISO and shutter that you're mainly going to want to play around with while using those filters. Not sure if you know that you can change those, so give it a shot and see the outcome. You'll get some interesting effects, especially on something like a waterfall when adjusting the shutter speed.

The only thing the ND filters do is allow you to set the shutter speed lower so you can get motion blur which you will only see on objects that are closer to the camera. Otherwise they do nothing for the color, saturation, etc. The polorizer will reduce glare off glass and water and usually darkens the sky some so it looks more blue and less washed out.
