You haven't got to touch any screws to take the guard off, you just have to rotate the guard so all the detents line up , there are two arrows one on the inside of the black guard and one on the gray silver detents, you can see if you take the two flanges off, then you just have to line them up, which is when the guard is facing backwards, towards the user at 12oclock, and jiggle it out. I got mine 18 months ago, was invested in Dewalt and was going to get their 125mm 5" grinder which was 169 notes at the time, this milwaukee model was 199 with paddle switch, quick change locking flange, case, charger and 4.0 ah battery. No speed control tho ;( I was umming and arhing, wanted to get into the Milwaukee stuff, but not having a battery or charger was a bit of a cost barrier. But then screwfix had a one day only deal I was lucky enough to clock, and it was 149 quid with battery charger and case, so yoinked it sharpish, that battery buy in has sent me a bit yampy on buying Milwaukee tools tho ;D

I have a very similar Metabo 5" version. Paddle switches are great for left handers, also a really good safety feature. I just love having it at work with me. Such a versatile tool.

I’ve got one of these and Rogers review is spot on. Solid build loads of power and the brake is the best there is. Easy 10/10 for the money.

most of my milwaukee tools i bought in 2006 .... and the batteries are now at the end of their life - and they were used 3 full days a week!

Bought mine about 5 years ago after being really impressed with one of their battery drills.I am not impressed with the grinder the batteries last less than 5 minutes and the guard is so clumsy you lose a lot of cutting depth.....I don't use without guard.Handy for cutting a bolt off outside but you would soon get fed up grinding pointing out with one unless you take a lot of tea breaks.Thanks for the review. Perhaps you could do one on the drills.....fantastic.

1:55 this is a new thing as of 2022. Every other M18 grinder untill this year had the quicklock lockring

That must be an older version, I've had mine 2 years and it has keyless blade change (a nut with which had a flap that flips up allowing you turn it without tools) and you can remove the shield by rotating it until the detents match and then it slips out.

How do these feel in hand and balance compared to a Makita cordless?
@cuebj
@cuebj 9 ай бұрын
Very useful. Thinking of trading in my rarely used Makita 230mm with dust extractor for a small variable speed grinder. My 9 year old little Bosch starts with a big kick and takes forever to stop - fine for some applications but definitely not for others, eg tiles on the wall and one-handed cuts. On Milwaukee batteries, so this looks good

They had one of these at an old job of mine in a vessel fab shop. Obviously couldn't contend with the corded ( it lasted 3 or 4 minutes if you were actually grinding with it) but it was so handy for little cuts and feathering tacks, especially when you had to get inside the tanks. It had plenty of go for what it is, and it lasted longer than other ones we tried. I rate it as a good tool and it had a very, very hard life. Cheers 👍

Dewalt 18volt flathead grinder. Gets better into tighter areas. 54 volt grinder gen 2 dewalt in league of its own.

Mine had the quick release guard and disc and it was the nicest grinder to use I have had. However it died after 18mths moderate use . Same with the multitool . My subsequent experience with Millwalkee customer service was less than great sadly and I'm gradually moving all my battery tools over to another brand. Shame, as they do have some of the best ergonomically refined tools like this grinder, all the time they work.....

My company sells industrial tools and product, mainly to the mining and O&G sectors (but also others). I recommend Milwaukee power tools over any of the other brands for heavy industry and where there is a potential for them bring knocked about. They are incredibly robust and hard wearing alongside being great quality. They might be a bit overkill for domestic and light trade use though.

Yes there very good mate but dewalt 54volt range will out perform any other brands on most league of there own on heavy gauge tools. 54 volt grinder is a beast. Do believe there there’s not between them. Some out perform on certain tools. 1 thing sure makita are a mile behind Milwaukee and dewalt my opinion

Milwaukee cordless looks superior for angle grinder and osc saw. Waiting to see reviews on inter-brand battery adapters. The problem I guess is that a tool manufacturer will be unlikely to make an adapter to allow you to switch brands. As a result, the adapters are from a broad array of Chinese companies (or at least marketed under a large number of names).
