Carol Dweck's decades of research tells us that we can change the way we think to fulfil our potential. It's not just our talent and abilities that bring us success - but whether we utilize a fixed or growth mindset.
This growth mindset animation conveys the key points from Carol's book, "Mindset: How You can Fulfil Your Potential". We cover the main differences between the fixed and growth mindset, and then cover the mindset in all areas of life including sports, business, relationships, parenting, and teaching.
I hope you enjoy this mindset book summary!

This is definitely one of the biggest recurring themes I've noticed reading a bunch of self-development books: mindset. Over and over again, all kinds of authors mention that your thoughts turn into you actions, that you are only limited by your brain, and everything is possible if it can be believed first. Thanks for the awesome book review :)

That doesn't really mean shit to those of us who've had our brains damaged by abuse as children. Especially in terms of frontal lobe damage which pretty much makes all executive functions off kilter. It actually makes it worse.

It's important to point out that nobody has a completely fixed or completely growth mindset. We all have some areas of our lives where we have a fixed mindset and other areas with a growth mindset. So if you current feel you are a 'growth mindset' person, try to find the aspects of your life where you actually have a fixed mindset. It's the areas of our lives where we don't know we have a fixed mindset that cause us the most issues.

This is 100% true. We all have areas we are better in than others. But all areas are places we can improve upon in our lives.

This is something that should be taught in schools. "Mindsets" are the key to success. Based on a persons mindset you can tell if they are going to succeed or not. Awesome book! This book is on my list of books to read. Awesome video brother!!! :)

I appreciate the overall message and I certainly agree that the word needs to get out to as many ppl as possible. I really enjoyed the book and I enjoyed your video as well. Being completely honest something to think abt is that it could be perceived as stereotypical in the relationship segment and the parenting segment to picture females having the fixed mindset and males having the growth mindset. Dweck mentions in her book that the mere mention of sex and race can encourage a fix mindset and I'm sure that's not a message you'd want ppl to take away here. Thanks for posting and allowing feedback!

I loved this and it is a great synopsis but when it got to the end and it suggested the little girl be told she didn’t deserve to win and has to work very hard to deserve it I had cause to pause. I’m going to get the book but I was wondering if you could enlighten me a bit as to whether that’s a direct example or your take on it? I absolutely agree with the premise so far but I feel like there’s room to help the little girl explore if winning is even her end goal in the first place and supporting her continued motivation by showing her the joy of dancing for dancing’s sake too? Just wondering about your thoughts on this because I admit to being a bit fixed mindset and I wonder if that viewpoint is me giving myself a way out somehow and if directing my son to the joy of ‘the now’ instead of the end goal of winning is misguided under this theory? Not trolling 😂; thought it was a great video, thank you so much 😊 🙏🏻, genuinely curious as to your view?

Hi, I'm saying this as a common viewer of videos like these: Videos seem more professional if the imagery has a continuous style throughout the video. Mixing different styles on the animations and cartoons makes a video messy and unpleasant to watch in my opinion! Your video is quite clean, and I enjoyed watching it, but I felt like some out-spoken advice would never hurt! It's something I hope you'll consider when making your videos. #AllForTheAesthetics edit: I just saw in your newer videos that you have nailed this perfectly :)

has anyone thought about how fixed mindset are good? Ex. Saying no to drugs(fixed mindset : wont take the challenge, ignore, give up) what about how we are thought of what is good and bad, having manners, and a constructive brain? If we had a growth mindset wouldn't we follow good and bad?ex. accepting wage gaps we wouldn't be able to tell what is good or bad. Fixed and Growth mindsets exist for a reason. one cant be the better one. am I confusing everything?? no harm intended

It's like I developed this feeling/thought that I can't learn well, or atleast I look at others who are better at this and that. Like when they're talking in a group about something I don't understand I tend to feel dumb. Also when starting something, I tend to think "What's the use of it anyway, eventually" Like when I start a drawing.. I have had times that I deleted my whole online gallery of art. Multiple times. But on the other hand, I can be a fast learner, IF I find something really really interesting (at the time). Then I work until I get it done. The feeling dumb thing makes me get quiet around people, and even led me to drop out of school (bullying occured too).
@gperson1967
@gperson1967 6 жыл бұрын
Feeling dumb is actually a great thing! What? Yes, I'm serious! Because nobody who thinks they know everything EVER learned ANYTHING. Have you considered being honest about how you feel to the people who make you feel dumb? I know, scary thought! But sometimes expressing our vulnerability opens us up to new ways of thinking and feeling. You may even discover that the people who make you feel dumb feel dumb themselves! At the very least, they may be able to help you understand the topic better. But in order to do that, they need to know you aren't on the same page. Please, allow your dumbness to drive you to explore how to be un-dumb! Ask questions, and be open to learn. Dumb does not have to be a fixed condition! Remember, we are all born completely stupid!

In the example of Elizabeth's gymnastics contest, why did you chose to present her mother next to the wrong answers, but later switch and have the father presenting the correct answer? By the narration being "Her growth mindest oriented father", in my eyes this creates an implicit contrast, suggesting that the mother wouldn't have chosen the reasonable answer.
