I think the scaffolding thing is because it has to keep track of how far away a scaffolding is from a support to know if you can place more next to it or whether it is too far away from a support, so placing a support closer updates that number

Turning in a minecart has less frames of animation than traveling straight on one track. Those frames add up resulting in faster travel. It's a speed runner exploit that Mojang couldn't fix if they wanted.

@@XIN3OHd only if they wanted to ruin using mine carts as they are intended to. I'm sure they could remove them entirely or replace them, but as it is there are less frames because it has less distance to go at the same speed. It's a math thing. Like how driving on the inside of a NASCAR track gives you less track to drive on and the outside gives you more because it's a circle.

Because it sounds like if they just made one 90 degree turn at the center point of the block it would be the same distance as just going straight across. To be fair though that does conflict with the rail texture, I see what you mean now, thanks for explaining.

Since you accidentally skipped the text at the beginning, you missed the note that easy/normal/hard is based on _how obscure the feature is,_ not necessarily the technical difficulty of executing it. That's why the potion headshot is rated "easy" even though the timing is extremely tight, while the trapdoor ladder is rated "normal" even though it requires absolutely no skill.

I thought of a different solution to the scaffolding puzzle and I wonder if it would've worked. My idea was to make an arrangement of scaffolding around the observers that looks like this from the top down: O O S SSS SSS then stand on the left one, look down at the edge of it, and double click really fast to try to place both scaffoldings in the 2 tick window (2 ticks = 1 redstone tick = 0.1 seconds)

Thank God someone told him he could just climb trapdoors at 40:26. I would have been so annoyed if he thought he finished the puzzle thinking he needed to do that weird thing he did.

Loving this map! It has helped refresh my memory of the little obscure game mechanics that I often forget about. Also I had no idea about the potion headshot thing, as well as the trapdoor acting as a ladder.

The zigzag tracks are a reference to trains derailing. Normally when they derail they do speed up or seem to. So, it works the same way in Minecraft....except for the part where it'll end up back on another track...that normally doesn't happen.

According to another comment, that's not the reason why. It's because turning has less frames of animation, so it's actually faster than going straight.
