Is high vol. good if you are a beginner? I try to push myself as hard as i can but i can still get around 12-14 sets on my hypertrophy days (I follow PHAT, but I do stop when I feel like my sets are dropping significantly in quality), I have been lifting for around 10months Edit: Also your car sounds nice

I’m curious how often I should train to failure. Because in a previous video you said not to train to failure every set, during this video you made 1year ago. The video was called (How often should you train to FAILURE). I have been using that philosophy from that video ever sense going to failure on 50% of my sets.

For me, reducing the weight on subsequent sets (drop-set) allows me to have a better mind muscle connection, because as you get fatigued (after the first set), you have less control of the weight. So, lowering the weight a bit, makes the 2nd or 3rd set feel as productive as the first. As we all know, the most important thing is to go close or to failure on every set. So, we shouldn’t think much of the weight but rather how we optimally connect with the exercise on every set. I don’t use drop-sets in every exercise. Usually on those that tend to allow for lower number of reps on the subsequent sets.

When doing your voiceovers, can you explain specific aspects of your technique for whatever exercise you're doing? Like why on the preacher curls you like to lift the elbows off the pad with every rep. More generally, when you're approaching failure you sometimes try to jerk the weight just enough to complete the rep, though other times you stay away from that. I'd like to hear your opinion on the tradeoffs of that. Really, any insight would be appreciated. I've already learned a tremendous amount from your shorts and think that your vlogs are a great opportunity for you to elaborate more on your approach.

Question: would you consider general strength training* and bodybuilding to be basically the same thing? General strength training: training to have a higher performance (Better tempo/form, higher reps/weight, harder biomechanical position with the same rep x weight) on most of the movement patterns. just training to have increased performance on all vectors.

Also I used to get headache exertions when going full weight on lat pulldown without warming up, even when I was properly hydrated by drinking some coconut water with 1g of added salt 30min before the set. I think because this particular compound movement is incredibly exhausting and taxing to the body.

Question to max You talked about elbow flaring on chest press targeting the coricobrachialis. I was stuck/plateauing with your 45 degree tucked style. I had a great contraction using your method, but I had a much better contraction when I flared my elbows which allowed for deeper rounding of the back which allowed for a deeper stretch of the chest. And I didn't feel any coriocobrachialis tension(i'm not too sure what that muscle that is and I saw on google it was near the upper arm/connecting shoulder and arm/adduction) I think elbow “flare” is actually better than the 45 degree technique as long as the elbows are still well below the shoulders (comparitely when your back is flat on the bench) Personally I still use the 45 degree technique in the beginning portion of my dumbellb chest press (extension portion like straight arms on the chest fly at shortened portion) Then as I reach the end range of motion on the 45-60 degree method I start to “flare my elbows” so that I can get a deeper stretch (The contraction is holyyyy). But also my arms are kind of short so my arms might actually be within the 45-60 degree range. But I definitely like more “flared” elbows at the bottom portion because my shoulder start to internally rotate when I try to go deeper with the strict 45 degree angle db benchpress. I watched this Ryan Humiston video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bd97itR2yZqcdZc.html can you tell me what you think about this? I don’t really trust Ryan Humiston too much but I tried this out and it works pretty well in my opinion. Could you try it out for me on next chest day?

if you were to do the same exercise twice a week (for example, incline db press on Monday and Thursday) should you aim to progress in either weight or reps or whatever in each workout or from week to week. Example: 75's for 10 on Monday, 75's for 11 on Thursday. or Week 1; 75's x 10 both Monday and Thursday -> week 2: 75's x 11/12 Monday and Thursday
