Mini Schnauzers vs. Toy Schnauzers: The TRUTH About Their Weights
Identifying the weight puppies will be when they are full grown is not a science!
While I love the EMBARK DNA tests for other things, they are not accurate on the weights for small Schnauzers.
If you follow along my "Penny & Her Puppies Playlist" you know I’ve shared the weights for these puppies since the day they were born.
A family was on my wait list wanting a puppy from this litter. They wanted a TOY SIZE puppy ideally 7 - 10 lbs was their goal. When the puppies were born they selected a boy and named him "Gatsby." Yesterday, I reached out to them because I suspect Gatsby may be a small Mini instead of a Toy size puppy. I offered them the opportunity to have a puppy from another litter - Libertee’s next litter, where there is a greater likelihood that the puppy will be toy size. They chose to move to that litter to ensure they get a TOY Sized SCHNAUZER.
I believe it is my responsibility as an ethical breeder to let people know when I think a puppy will be larger than what they desired. It is my intention to be honest with anyone who is getting a puppy from me about all the details even when it may mean we need to make a change in a puppy from with in a litter to do a different litter of puppies.
