The Hard Rock International said that The Mirage Hotel & Casino is scheduled to cease operations on July 17, 2024.

i was at the mirage before they announced hard rock cafe buying it. had some deep conversations with the bar staff right at the entrance and i will forever miss the mirage and the attractions from Siegfried and roy.

You are so right. Was just there and visited Resorts World, felt like an airport terminal. Also went to check out Fontainebleau and it was like a high end, empty mall. No personality or soul.

I was in Las Vegas New Years 1990, Mirage had just opened the Mirage was the place to be. I remember at midnight everyone came out of the casinos onto the strip, cars could not move as people took over, with cocktails in hand. Great memories of Las Vegas back then.

They could have bought the Circus Circus and put the guitar there. A win win....get rid if the Circu Circus and build a band new casino in its place. Why destroy the Mirage...it makes no sense.

my favs about Circus Circus is the Adventuredome AND the carnival/midway attractions and the kiosks that sell stuff that I cant find one the strip or Fremont St.

it’s actually quite a strong brand overseas particularly in Asia and honestly no one much cares about branding anymore amongst domestic travelers. People stay where they like the atmosphere. I understand the HR hotel will have an amazing concert venue

I can guarantee you that the Mirage with the Volcano shows nightly, were a +++++ to Vegas's tourism, absolutely no one would skip the evening show! I visit when I can afford another vacation and I make sure that volcano show is one of my MUST SEE before heading home.

So, close an iconic Las Vegas hotel and build a copy of one from Florida. Wealthy Las Vegas casino owners DO NOT get that casinos have now spread through out the nation and world, so they need to make Las Vegas unique so that people still visit.

I am sad being born n raised here n watching the dunes getting imploded it literally took away the nostalgia from our city. My parents moved here from the east Coast in the fifties when there only about fifty thousand ppl here cut to today there are 2.2 million is mind-blowing i miss the good old days.

This is sad and such a bad idea. Every new hotel build in Vegas has had construction delays and issues in funding. There is a huge possibility that a year or two into the construction-that they will run out of money and the project will be on hold. Secondly-the “new” Vegas hotels that the dude being interviewed here keeps talking about are all doing terrible. Resortsworld is a sterile money losing business. Fontainebleau is also a loser. Neither of these “new” hotels have made Vegas better. They should just put money into the Mirage and renovate it little by little. The bones/structure and grounds of the Mirage are fine-they could just use a refresh. A complete tear down is completely unnecessary.

You call it constant employment in the construction industry......imagine if all hotels refused to demolish and just thrive, your dad or mom whos a construction worker, wont be able to provide for their family.

How about the employees that will inevitably lose their jobs when the new billion dollar hotels that take their place dont make enough to cover the costs of the construction. Go look at the profit numbers for Resorts world and Fontaineblue. Fountainebleu took 15 years to develop. You think that this project will go perfectly as planned? I highly doubt it.

I wish they would have taken Circus Circus and left the Mirage alone. It is my favorite on the strip. I don't care for the Hard Rock Brand. Anytime I have used their facilities has been mediocre at best. Peace out Mirage, I have great memories there.

A big stupid guitar just blocking views from other hotels. Trashy to say the least. I loved the Mirage, the volcano and their grounds - what a shame. Everything is so dispensable these days. I was at the Aladin when they announced they were closing back in the day...only 30 years old as well and kaput, its gone. We loved staying there. Gee, houses last longer than 30 years, why can't a Vegas hotel? Bigger isn't always better! 😢
